Rising transfering....

Probably turn into a Murray at KState..somebody better be right! Seems like Hermans putting all his stock in Sam. all he's got ready to go is Shane, all the New STUDS aren't ready to be thrown in yet! Right Swoopes?

It’s not Herman’s decision. The kid decided to leave, end of story. You really think Herman is choosing for him to transfer?

Well, what did he expect? He knew Sam was only going to be a sophomore when he committed, and he knew full well about Thompson, as he was already committed. He also had to know about Roschon. So what on earth did he actually expect? I honestly thought his commitment to UT meant that he was a patient kid who didn't mind lots of competition. Now it just seems like a typical kid not thinking straight. Oh well. Good luck to him.

We have Shane and thompson with one year practicing. Much better than years past. Kids have no patience today.

Gotta love the logic. He actually thinks these "kids" aren't ready, but blames Herman for not promising one the starting job to keep him from leaving. Pure genius. Lol

At least he won’t be taking practice reps away from the others anymore.

Well, we haven't seen but 2 QBs this yr , if they ready as you say then one of them might beat out Shane or Sam and be better since they are so ready...LOL Why did he recruit them if he wasn't gonna let him play? Waste of a Scholly..

Actually Flour, many scholarships are given with the knowledge that since only 11 can start at a time, the rest are for depth and in case of injury. Coaches try to recruit over the class before them, but they know that can’t always happen. But you still need the best body you can get in case the starter goes down/transfers/slumps.

I think it is a good decision for him. He will make somebody a good starter. It is pretty safe to say Sam will be injured at some point due to our style of offense and his determination. That being said, Boo and Thompson will be getting playing time.

Lets hope not! Sams the man! Hate to have what happen to Ash all over again, I still think of Ash, he was good despite getting hurt and going out like he did, it was a shame

I hope not, but, I meant more like nicked up/bruised (like the shoulder) here and there maybe missing a game or a half here and there.

Rising redshirted. At least compete in the spring and try to win the job. Hes got 4 years of eligibility left. Not sure why he'd consider throwing in the towel now.
Too many things have to happen for him to get solid playing time and over a long period of time. To me, it is reasonable. He can go somewhere less crowded at the QB position and start/play for 2-3 years.

IMO you’ve got to stick it out and earn your spot. Applewhite was like 4th string at one point. Injuries happen. Like a lot.

That Roschon Johnson kid is the real deal. He might redshirt but he has more tools than Ehlinger once he gets in the system. No slight to Ehlinger but that kid has it all.

Roschon is the QB of the future at Texas. This kid has all of the tools. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him pass up Ehlinger at some point and earn the starting job.

Here's the problem scholz-- being a QB is just different. they are the coddled kids. The kids that play oline and dline and linebacker etc, we all know we aren't big enough or strong enough at a young age to be the starter on the varsity when you're a freshman. But if you've got a stronger passing arm than a kid just a few years older than you--- you can get the job. This leads to a mentality of entitlement. Us headbangers, we spend years in the weight room and eat 10,000 calories a day and pound our bodies into being bigger, stronger and faster. We know this takes time and effort and we learn to be patient. Qbs, especially Qbs that are gifted enough to play D1 at a blueblood (most of them at least) believe their fecal matter lacks a certain odoriferous emanation.
If you combine these things and rub them together you come to realize why these kids are the way they are. Never underestimate the fragile ego of the quarterback.

Roschon needs to redshirt and get some of his injury issues corrected. Knee, ankles, etc.... He played most of this year injured.

He'll be a RS FR when Sam is a Senior. Not likely to happen.

His dad and Herman have some kind of connection. He doesn’t have to transfer yet. He isn’t gone yet. I find his timing strange though.

This is the new reality for CFB today. The 5 star QB's all expect a realistic chance to play after 1-2 years. With Sam fully entrenched for the next 2 years, there's no chance for them here unless there's a major injury to Sam. Keep in mind that when Rising and Thompson committed our QB situation was an open competition. Not anymore. Probably best for them to move on so we can open up a couple more scholarships to fill other areas of need.

You can enter the portal but stay at your current school if you choose so. Entering the portal will become common for backup QBs.

Both Rising and Thompson came to Texas thinking/hoping they would be next in line after Bouchele, or sooner, and Sam changed all that this season. Now they both know it’s likely they are sitting for two more years if they stay.

Lets just put the whole damn team in the portal! This is mad stuff..old days , most of them woulda now seen the locker room if DKR hadn't seen them play, he never took what he could not play

So everyone deserves equal playing time? I always thought the best players play.

They should compete in the Spring and then decide. Sam is an injury away and Shane isn't the ideal backup. If Rising makes any progress at all then hed #2 easily. Or so I'd think.
