look up sam gilbert. also, ucla players have said they never watched film of other teams. that wouldn't work today. marques johnson once said "when i played well, we won; when i played bad, we still won." they had the best players money could buy. morally, don't care. BUT it tilted the playing field a great deal.

I could not disagree more. He is one of those coaches that would be the best of any era. He taught fundamentals like no one before or since. He would spend the entire first day of practice showing the players how to put on their socks! All the best of the best HS players would line up to play for him to ensure their ticket to the NBA.

Now how he would have handled the one and done situation is anyones guess....

My guess is he would have eschewed the one and dones and recruited players to stay 4 years - ala Jay Wright.
