Sumlin on the way out???

Not to worry.....the ags have a new 5* QB savior coming in to propel them to greatness. Dont worry about the fact that he is the same size as Murray or that he never played against top flight competition...he is by God a 5*...now he might not be when the new rankings come out as no one has a clue how he got to be a 5*....and dont worry that Swoopes was a 5* when he first committed to us.....he will be better than Manziel because he is committed to aggy and after all....manziel was never a 5* so he has to be better right?...Only worry is that he is so highly regarded he might just go pro right out of HS.....and....and....well Hell!....hulabaloo kanek kanek

That sounds more like something a delusional horn fan would say about their all world QB's.

This really says so much. Bigger doofus?

Out of control ego.

Perfect small d*ck aggy.

I'd ask if Sharp needed the "mind numbing effects of alcohol" at this point but the obnoxious egotist probably blames everyone else but himself.
Sounds like jizzmop Chip is listening to his all knowing sources again.

actually Mike....I was pointing out that Swoopes was a 5* when he first committed to us and we all know how that turned out....and it wasnt good....I was inferring that perhaps the same guy gave your next QB his rating that gave Swoopes his.....

Where my delusion comes in is the part where I thought an aggy might actually understand that....my bad.

blood clot mazzone better get what he can from this staff. Of course, he visited College station and now he has to think about it :) CS has that same effect on just about everyone.

Well I hope they don't have to send a begging delegation to his home. That would be embarrassing.

College Station does have a really damn good burger joint. Coppe Bridge is the name of it.

Heard about it from a friend....

you do what you have to do to get the guy you want. Maybe they should send a delegation to Doug Meacham's house....oh wait...you guys had him penned in as your OC and was going to announce Friday.. how did that work out for you ???? You should get the next OC to sign before he ends up at that shithole CS and cant get out of it.

Is Mazz in or out? WTF us up with that premier SEC program in the great state of Texas? I thought those bastards told people where to sign and when to shit...

Maybe John Sharp is a liar just like Bowtie was when you guys left. He certainly looks and sounds like a petulant, selfish, self important slimeball.

Noel Mazzone, Texas A&M have finalized 3-year deal. Taylor Mazzone goes, too.

Not that our OC hiring process was awesome, but between the Meachum rumors and then to Mazzone and now Mazzone with son in tote that's pretty embarrassing. But if he's your guy, you get him by any means necessary. Same can be said about the Gilbert situation.

if our OC had been a OC in high school within the 7 years a*m would be having a field day with it...

his nick name is " no end zone mazzone"

In January 2009, Mazzone was under consideration by Randy Shannon for the vacant position as offensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes,[6] and in February of that year was under consideration by Dave Wannstedt as offensive coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh.[7] He was also being considered for the job coaching quarterbacks under Mangini with the Cleveland Browns.[8][9] But, instead of going to coach for any college he decided to assume the duties of offensive coordinator for Panther Creek High School in Cary, North Carolina under Wayne Bragg

Your new OC was the OC at Temple, TX high school 4 years ago.

see..u guys should have jumped all over that ;) Our OC has less experience than what a&m just hired...but the track record for mazzone is not that good. Gilbert may even fail at Ut, time will tell.

LOL. There have been a lot of guys making the jump from HS to CFB the last several years. Briles and Malzahn were both coaching HS about 10-12 years ago.
what is crazy to think though is the pay scale for this guy..and others that have made the jump. 4 years ago he was making $50 grand in high school ?? (not sure what pay is in texas) to a three-year contract worth $850,000 per year 4 years later. If he makes it work...good lord, he will be in the millions.

Yeah that's crazy. The smart ones have gone from HS to be position coaches at the CFB level to get experience and many have gone on to get coordinator positions and head coaching jobs.

Todd Dodge made a huge mistake moving directly from Southlake to UNT as the HC. UNT was in shambles and he wasn't ready to be a college head coach. If he had gone the asst route I think he would have had a shot to be a head coach by now.

Most of the time that's their only option. The Todd Dodge situation was kind of unprecedented as a high school head coach is rarely given the keys to a college program.

Some of these HS have 13 assistant coaches and the HC can rack back over 100K per year. I dont know where that 50K figure came from, but I think it is way light.

Article in the Dallas News about the Allen HS coach leaving for Barbers Hill. Getting a bump in pay from $105K at Allen - Barbers Hill advertised the job at $115-$130K. Coach and AD.

The assistants pay is typically what a high school teacher would make. They are given a stipend due to the extra hours they put in but its nowhere near enough. Many times they are dealing with a lot of pressure but the compensation is not really fair for what they do.

It is one thing to be a bright, young mind who leaps from HS to NCAA or even to NFL.

It is another to be an old, retread who keeps failing and getting fired at NCAA and fell down to HS.

Now I think Mazzone is an ok hire. It is also one you'd have to be a bit bummed about. Not sure it is a good fit.

You can use the search tool here to see that I stated that Gilbert would've been a home run hire for ATM. And this was way, way before he was even rumored to UT. Comparing the two, I like Gilbert more. I don't think he is a home run hire for UT. But a very good one.

Bottom line point is that your comparison to Briles or Malzahn or even Gilbert and their leap from HS is very different. Mazzone was demoted down to HS. Not some steal of a bright, young HS HC. He couldn't find an NCAA job so he took a HS OC job. Not even HC. Your comparison of him to these names is quite a bit dissimilar.

I actually wasn't comparing Mazzone to guys like Briles and Malzahn who have had some success as head coaches. My point was that I wasn't going to insult a school for hiring a guy who had been in the high school ranks recently. I think Gilbert is a good hire coming from the Baylor system. He's young and was coaching HS ball 4 years ago but so what? There is now a pattern of numerous coaches coming from the HS ranks (for whatever reason they were there) and having success quickly at the college level.

I would rather have had Meacham but in looking at Mazzone's performance with UCLA from 20012-2015, his offenses have put up some solid results.

Both ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad and FOXSports.com’s Bruce Feldman are reporting that UCLA OC Noel Mazzone has been hired for the same position by Texas A&M.

Not many assistant coaching changes take us off guard, but this one did. On the surface, it's rather puzzling: While Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies have run a freelancing, adaptable spread system over the past few years under the direction of OC Jake Spavital, Mazzone's Bruins offenses have been rigid, predictable, conservative and mostly run out of NFL-like formations. If this isn't a sign that there's serious heat on Sumlin, nothing is.

I get it, someone was bashing Mazzone for being in HS a few yrs ago. You bring up Gilbert, the UT recent hire was, because you want to shut the HS talk down and defend your new guy. And then you say other guys have done it and been successful and you name Briles and Malzahn, to further shut the talk down.

I totally understand that you weren't saying Mazzone is the next coming of Briles. But by definition you were defending his HS status by comparing him to other guys who came from HS recently and had success. I know you weren't guaranteeing his success by saying that, but you WERE comparing them.

It's a bizarre fit indeed. Maybe Stumblin's going to pull a Mack and try to copy Bama on O. He's already been thoroughly mediocre, though, so it's not like there will be any similar fall from grace for him, whatever he does.
