Sumlin on the way out???

It's a bizarre fit indeed. Maybe Stumblin's going to pull a Mack and try to copy Bama on O. He's already been thoroughly mediocre, though, so it's not like there will be any similar fall from grace for him, whatever he does.

Hey, when you only have one QB on the roster and no talented ones......maybe Sumlin is being brilliant here to give up on his O and make it a less QB centric offense.

Just because it didn't work for Mack....doesn't mean it won't for Sumlin. I mean Mack failed because he tried to push a square peg in a round hole. Taking an O with an OL and a bunch of recruits built for the spread O and wide split blocking and forcing them immediately in to a power I lineup.

Its not like Sumlin and ATM isn't full of a roster built for the spread or anything?

Both ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad and FOXSports.com’s Bruce Feldman are reporting that UCLA OC Noel Mazzone has been hired for the same position by Texas A&M.

Not many assistant coaching changes take us off guard, but this one did. On the surface, it's rather puzzling: While Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies have run a freelancing, adaptable spread system over the past few years under the direction of OC Jake Spavital, Mazzone's Bruins offenses have been rigid, predictable, conservative and mostly run out of NFL-like formations. If this isn't a sign that there's serious heat on Sumlin, nothing is.
That's really the problem, they have not been running a freelancing, adaptable spread system. Nobody can tell what they were trying to accomplish the past 2 years but it obviously didn't work in SEC play.

When Sumlin first came to A&M they were running legit air raid (similar to what Tech is doing now). They got away from that in a big way and it cost them. The playcalling from Spavital was horrendous and some of the worst I have ever seen at the CFB level. Player development was also lacking.

Mazzone may not be a home run hire but he is light years better than Spavital (who by the way hasn't been mentioned in any openings, even for a position coach yet).

Know excuses.

Its cool. Spav might pull a Mazzone and go be an OC in HS. ;)

Thanks for the $10 service. How does the hot spunk feel steaming down your throat? Oh, it feels just like the burn in your angus after getting peppered by Chuck Strong's recruits in Louisville. Oh yeah, and also your "brothers" who are so happy you are in the conference as they needed another bunghole to drill with regularity. Then again, you may wanna check with all the recruits, coaches, and admins who are leaving sheeptown for a reality check. Talk about the rats bailing out of the rowboat, heh-heh-heh. Gonna be embarrassing next year when 45,000 empty seats are decorated as "12th man" seats. Hootie-hoot, wannabee. When you grow up or wake up from the pummeling you've received here feel free to head on over to the main board for a national dose of bewildering and embarrassing tales from people that have had the shock to run into a Gump like you peeps are. But wait a minute....that would only be reserved for nationally known and relevant Universities...which is precisely why you are here...ha-ha....nevermind...poooooooooooooor agggggggggie. Que the Looney Tunes cartoon gif of the figure turning into a sucker. What a maroon.

Got to ride the Louisville dick since horns sucked too bad to make a bowl game?

if we had your OOC we would have the same record as you. We beat our rival this year......when is the last time you beat your so called rival LSU....or is it bama ???

I think you are right about the OOC,probably gives you one more win to get to 6-6. But that's only if you go 4-4 against the SEC schedule the Ags had and I don't think you do.

what is crazy to think though is the pay scale for this guy..and others that have made the jump. 4 years ago he was making $50 grand in high school ?? (not sure what pay is in texas) to a three-year contract worth $850,000 per year 4 years later. If he makes it work...good lord, he will be in the millions.

You do realize some high school coaches are making as much as 200K. And that doesn't even include the side deals they put together with local businesses for advertisements and endorsements. Some high school coaches are making an absolute killing compared to other teachers in their school.

Actually we lost to two OOC teams both were better than anything you played in OOC so I'd say we would have 2 more wins.

Our other losses were to TCU, WVU, ISU, OSU, and TT

We beat a playoff team and a top 15 team. You did neither.

Texas would have gone undefeated against your OOC and for arguments sake we beat LSU and Old Miss, two teams we shoudn't have beaten but did, just like our current schedule. That means there are 4 other schools we would have had to have played. Lets say we lose to USCe a team we had no business losing to. Probably lose to MSU, Bama, Allbarn, and beat Arkansas.

That still puts us at about 8 wins.

I'd say that is about right for Texas this year.

But we don't compare ourselves to aggsy, you guys call it a successful year if you can say you are better than Texas. I don't think you were in either this season or last. Texas sucked both years, and if we suck again, we will change our coach. Texas will never settle for being mediocre just because we are in the toughest conference in America.
