Former Bowling Green receivers coach Andrew Sowder has joined the Texas football staff, according to multiple sources.
From what I have been told, Sowder was recently added to the staff. I have not received official word what position Sowder currently holds at Texas. However, I heard he will help coach Texas' receivers and work on the offensive side of the ball.
Sowder previously worked with Texas offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert on Bowling Green’s staff. Sowder was Bowling Green's director of player personnel from January 2014 until February 2015 before being elevated to receivers coach, according to his LinkedIn account. Gilbert was the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2014 season at Bowling Green.
From what I was told, Gilbert was in favor of Sowder being added to the staff because he understands the intricacies of this offense. I have not received any indication that Texas receivers coach Charlie Williams' position will be affected by Sowder's addition.
