Texas Recruiting

I wouldn't be disappointed if we end up with Louisiana Transfer Linebacker Lorenzo McCaskill. I think he fits PK's system well.

smaller size in 6'2 220lbs. He was 3rd team All-Sunbelt Conference LB in 2020 and 2nd team All-Sunbelt Conference LB in 2021

"I like Texas," McCaskill said. "That is one of America's teams, and I feel like I could fit in that system."

Btw, this weekend there is about 75 recruits on campus for Junior day, classes of 2023, 24, 25 and believe it or not a 2026.

Recruiting insiders on Twitter and Reddit are feeling confident that Georgia transfer safety Latavious Brini will be committing to the good guys. Possibly within the next couple of days. Fingers crossed. This would be a huge pickup for the defense. Getting the starting safety from the defending national champs would be amazing.

We've also offered the Westlake DE Vasek today who is expected to commit for the '23 class. That puts us in great position with WR Jaden Greathouse as he is close to both Vasek and Ethan Burke.

Gotta like the way Sark is using the portal. Targeting a few of guys who could make a big impact but will for sure contribute right away at positions of need. I think that is the future of the portal. Recruiting is still your foundation, but the portal can help you fill in some gaps. Which most teams are going to have. I don’t care how well you recruit most every team is going to have an area or two they need to sure up.

Sounds like Safety Brini, who started for Georgia this year, could very well commit to the good guys today. Would be a very good pick up.
We are definitely plugging some holes of need.

I’m not sure what to think of this one. Why would the starting safety of the National Championship team transfer? Are there some underlying issues here? I know the kid was arrested a couple years ago for assault, but unlike somebody from OU, at least he hit a dude, and didn’t get beat up in a bathroom.

The reason he was the starter was because he was replacing the regular starter who was injured. He held the job down very well all season but now he’s back in competition since the guy he replaced is now healthy. I guess he feels like he’s better off somewhere else where he’s the clear number 1 safety.

Now there’s some Arkansas insiders saying that Brini is in Arkansas today after spending the weekend in Austin. Not good if that’s true.

If I’m Sark I go to CDC and tell him man we gotta get in to the SEC ASAP. Not being in it is killing us with these transfer portal kids from the SEC. If we’re in the SEC one of if not both Sanders and Brini are wearing Burt orange. These SEC kids just don’t want to leave the SEC if it’s an option

We need another year or 2 of recruiting before we are ready for the SEC.

I'm not a coach. I've never been more than a youth team coach. So my expert opinion is as follows.....
I think we need to hop to SEC after this coming football season. We grabbed a lot of help in the trenches and this gives them a year to develop and get stronger. I know it can take longer than that, but we could let this next round of recruits know we are going and that will help with these kids that want to come here but don't want to leave the SEC. I think as soon as we are SEC we will get a lot of kids that are in the portal.

But what do I know..........

GoR is the big issue with going to the SEC early. I believe the number is $75 million each for Texas and OU. The other thing is CBS has two more years of the SEC contract so there is no reason for ESPN to money whip making the move happen early and no reason for CBS to do it for a property they are losing.

Maybe but waiting is probably hurting us in recruiting a little bit, and for sure is hurting us as we go after these transfer kids.
Agreed. Although I don’t think Brini is a big loss, (I tried to get excited about him when it looked like we were getting him and couldn’t) the sooner we’re in the SEC the better. We don’t need years to build a roster anymore. The transfer portal makes that line of thinking outdated.

Not only that but the SEC will be much different by the time we get there. Saban has more games behind him than he does in front of him. Lane kiffin probably not gonna be at Ole miss forever.

Anyone else hearing that Perkins decommitted from a$m? I'm hearing some news that the Texas staff has made some progress........all word on the street from my people down there.
If anyone has real info please spill!!!

He did decomit. Unless some other school has gotten in the mix it would appear to be down to Texas or Florida

The Alabama LB looked like a lock to Texas and then suddenly went back to Bama. Maybe this was the reason

I thought Perkins was a safety?

5-Star Plus+ LB Harold Perkins decommits from Texas A&M

Perkins visits LSU next weekend. Texas staff needs to be in his ear.

He's a hybrid type safety. He can play down in the box on passing downs. He needs to put a little weight on to be playing in the box full time.
Ok, so more of an Overshown type, which makes it highly unlikely Jaylen Moody’s decision had anything to do with this. Moody would’ve been looking at the Brockermeyer side.
