Texas Recruiting

Eh they don’t really gain anything by dragging it out for no reason
Well yes they do. Remember John Elway's draft, Eli's? Very similar brother. They're controlling that ship whether you want to believe it or not. As laughable as it might be the Manning's are considered the "first family of football?" They will collectively, Archie, Peyton and Eli dictate where that boy goes and it now with the NIL in place, will be to the highest bidder. Now, back to baseball, beat aggy

Incredible insight. Wish I knew the Mannings that well. Must be pretty cool

Well, maybe the reason is to wait for the best and final NIL offers...
Eh they’ve likely already come in. Nothing left on the table at this point. Arch is going to rake in the NIL money regardless where he goes. To the extent that matters to him Texas is the leader of the pack on the NIL front

Sunday update from Nahlin

Hunter Osborne had a great visit and UT is now in the battle with Clemson. He’ll see fake UT soon so they might be in it as well. Auburn is out most likely. Florida is still seen as a threat (I do want to point out that Roach and Standish have both said that Osborne doesn’t know where this Florida talk with him is coming from, but Nahlin says they’re in)

We did good with Sydir Mitchell but we’re most likely in a battle with A&M and Georgia so this going to play out for a while.
No update on Malik Muhammad yet. Sark seeing his parents soon.
Jeff Choate killed it with his time with the parents and apparently gave the equivalent of a free clinic.

Defensive staff is making some schematic changes and quite a few think Overshown will lead the team in sacks from the edge.
Gary Patterson clarified his role and basically is the no bullshit-I tell it like it is-truth speaker on the state of the program. Also is working on marrying the secondary and the defensive front to be more cohesive.

Arch and Cooper both had a great time apparently and everybody just really likes the family.

I’ll take my 9.95 now

So Overshown is playing the edge now?

I would actually prefer him playing edge. If he beefed up a little more he could be a Sergio Kindle type. That’s high praise coming from me, as Sergio is my favorite all time Texas edge rusher.
If that's the case I hope he put on around 20 pounds and is around 250. He definitely has the frame to put on that weight and with his quickness it might be a natural fit. I wonder if this is one of those moves that is influence by GP?

I firmly believe this is a GP call. And a good one. Overshown was lost in the middle of the field. This will narrow his focus.

i drove along 290 yesterday coming from my mom's house, headed back south. noticed no homeless encampments. this sounds stupid, i know. but i remember my dad saying they did this for the 88 republican convention in houston. is it possible this was done because arch was in town? feel free to laugh and flame away. it was just a thought. more likely that it's been 103 and those folks found more tree-lined places to be. but it was a thought.

I'm not 100% sure but I thought I remember them passing a law that was going to start fining homeless people for camping.

Ok, with the progressive Austin politics how will that work?

Let me take a shot.
  1. Homeless disregard the law and camp in unauthorized location
  2. Police show up, cite the individuals and take them in
  3. Homeless have no money, so cannot pay fine
  4. DA releases homeless with no fine
  5. Homeless return to encampment in unauthorized location.
  6. REPEAT

I don't know. I'm down there about once a month because my brother in law is in Cedar Park and they have done a really good job of cleaning up the homeless people from my observations. I think they have moved further out. I don't see any homeless people underneath the bridges like I did around this time last year. Whatever they did is working regardless of what you just said above.

Ruben Owens=Zach Evan’s.
c'mon now. i've encountered him a couple times and he's always been a decent kid. if he took somebody's money, can you blame him? i always joke that i am fiercely loyal to the highest bidder-- if somebody ups the ante, he may be, too.

zach evans is a headcase. big difference

as for where louisville got the money, they've been paying for basketball players for years. every school has rich alumni. it was 500,000. i'm sure they have several guys that could put that together, including a pizza guy

Signing day is a long way away, and you're assuming that he got paid a large NIL sum by Louisville. BTW, it's actually a rules violation to accept any NIL benefits before signing a LOI.

Owens commitment is verbal only. Lots can change between now and signing day. I don't think that he ends up at Louisville in the end.

I think each State has different laws on when players can get NIL deals. Some States allow high school players to start getting paid, Texas is not one of them. If you see him transfer to a Kentucky High School or something like that then you know exactly what is going on.

Yeah and I’m pretty sure that’s how Jimbo flat out lied to the world about his signing class being paid. Jimbo said only 1 of his signing class had an NIL deal, insinuating that he was the only one bought and paid for which is a total lie. What he didn’t tell everyone is the others have an NIL deal in principle but they just can’t talk about it because you have to be enrolled first before you get an NIL deal. Jimbo is an absolute liar.

Believe it or not Louisville has quite a bit of big companies backing their NIL deals. I have heard that Adidas offered Owens 3 million to go there. Just a rumor at this point though but makes sense to me.

I would be shocked if it were this amount.
