I wonder if that many offensive weapons actually helps the OL? Can’t imagine teams are going to blitz much and if they do plenty of guys for Quinn to get the ball out quickly too.
That’s my concern. If our OL can’t do their job it won’t matter who we have at all the skill positions. I’d rather have studs at the OL and average players at the skill positions.

I hope I’m wrong. Hopefully it’s as you propose where the skill players help the OL perform better.

We do have studs on the OL. They are just freshman. It will be interesting to see how many of those guys can contribute and how soon.

we aren’t in the SEC yet. Our conference isn’t filled with great defenses. If a couple of those young guys can contribute by the start of conference play that would be huge.

Finley
Jamaal
Ced
Scaife (sp?)
Selvin
Ogbannaya

Other dudes that played NFL off the top of my head.
Those are all RBs and TEs though. Even then I would put our RB room this coming season up against any of those RB rooms from that time period. We haven't been this talented at receiver that I can ever remember. That is if we land Addison.

Well, I guess I don't know the route this convo was going then, lol. I initially started it by pointing out all the skill guys on offense we could have this year and how insane the talent level was.

Whatever the case, combining all skill positions I don't think we've ever been this deep. I think Ricky and Earl are/were better than any RB on the roster. Roy was better than any WR on the roster. But we've never had the depth.

The only thing close is Ricky/Shon/Priest backfield, but that didn't fit the time period listed above. However, brings another question...

Would you take Ricky/Shon/Priest or Bijan/RoJo/Keilan/Brooks?

Ricky/Shon/Priest and its not even close. That's not a shot at the current crew. Ricky = Heisman. Priest = All Pro. Shon = outstanding career, and he wasn't the main option.

What a waste that 1996 team was...or the talent I should say. 8-5 with that roster was criminal

JB
Ricky/Shon/Priest
Mike Adams/McGarity/Fitzgerald
Dan Neil/Jay Humphrey/Ben Adams

Akins/Hampton
2ndary of Westbrook/Allen/Carter/Thomas

Lost last second to Notre Dame (was at that game)
Lost in OT to freaking terrible OU
Lost by 4 to Colorado

That was a 10 win team at the very least. Nice work Mackoprick

I think we are on the same page. I'm speaking to the depth of the skill positions really. I disagree about Roy being better than Xavier though.

And before I would take Bijan/Rojo/Keilan/Brooks over the other tandem you listed i'm going to need to see what happens this season. I think Bijan is a better overall running back than Ricky, but I think Ricky had the better offensive lines. I know Bijan has the better yards per carry number. I don't really look at the overall yards because Ricky was getting a shit ton of carries those last 2 years.

Roy was stupid his freshman year and continued his success. Worthy isn't there. 4100 scrimmage yards and 39 TDs. X has a ways to go.

Bijan vs. Ricky isn't close right now. Bijan is probably better receiving, but that's it right now. Yes, Ricky did have a better OL. I think Bijan can cement his place amongst Earl, Ricky, Ced with a stellar year this year.

RoJo/Keilan/Brooks can surpass the production of Shon/Priest. Remember Shon had a 1000 yard rushing season. And Priest had a killer pro career.

As good as Roy was as a freshman Xaiver was that much better. I would say with worse QB play as well. It's kind of hard to compare 2 guys from different eras though because the game has changed so much. I would take Worthy over Roy though.

Roy ran two reverses for TDs and like a 40 yard carry average. He had 800+ yards receiving and averaged 20 yards a touch. Played much tougher defenses and had to share the football with BJ and Montrell. Plus Hodges too 37 catches out of the backfield. And the closer, Roy had freaking Greg Davis calling plays.

But if I have to take X's 2021 year, I'm not going to be upset, lol.

Chris Peterson on Fansided said Addison is going to USC. He also said that the On-3 prediction machine shows 96% chance it's USC and 4% Texas.

$3.5????? If he has a bad game - will the fans boo? One difference between the pro and college game is, overwhelmingly, the college fan will support their time no matter how bad. Not so in the pros.

Sounds like that also includes a house and a vehicle. He's getting paid like a first round NFL draft pick for just 1 season.

I hope with the money it’s being made clear that this is a full ride commitment. No more opting out of bowl games, assholes.

I said it way back when McCaffrey sat out....you want the NFL hopefuls and 1st rounders to play in the bowl games, freaking pay them. Appearance fee. NCAA was archaic in their stance. They could've gotten ahead of this NIL stuff but just hoped it would go away. Then the courts got involved and now there is full autonomy. Humans are really good acting without regulation 😂 😂 😂

Amen to this! If these schools/boosters are going to pay millions to these kids, it should be spelled out in a contract that in order to collect you must play the entire season, including the bowl game and/or playoff games. No more of making it all about you and quitting on your team and "opting out to prepare for the draft".

Something to keep in mind. I think some of these NIL numbers that make it to the public are probably way inflated. We will probably never know the real numbers but I’d bet in many cases they are far less than what’s being resorted.

I do think NIL will cause some kids to stay on school. Texas has had a couple of those guys. If your a guy like lil Jordon Humphrey who was a UDFA. Now instead of being a UDFA you can make high six figures in college, get your degree and improve your draft stock. Why not?1

I kinda thought Dicker might come back and someone would give him a sweet NIL deal
