Texas Recruiting

Amen to this! If these schools/boosters are going to pay millions to these kids, it should be spelled out in a contract that in order to collect you must play the entire season, including the bowl game and/or playoff games. No more of making it all about you and quitting on your team and "opting out to prepare for the draft".
I say no lost dollars on no playin knuckleheads. 😂

Exact opposite brother.
Yeah people gotta get over the bowl game thing. Do the coaches have to coach the bowl games? Then why do the players have to play in them?

you want the post season to matter then expand the playoffs…. You didn’t see any of the top NBA draft prospects skip the NCAA tournament, top baseball prospects don’t skip the baseball tournament

My fear/prediction is that guys like Red are now going to become way more active...I.E. interfering in the college game than ever....

"Coach....you want my millions to get that recruit, you are going to have to sign my favorite nephew and give him minutes....."calls to the bench to run plays.....allowing big clients access to practice and players.... All sorts of bad crap.

When Jerra bought the Cowboys he started bringing guys to JJ for tryouts.....

This has been happening for years behind the scenes. Only difference now is it's legal. Ask anybody who has been a big time division 1 recruit.

A lot of peoples “fears” about NIL have already been happening for years you just didn’t know it. There are plenty of guys that get scholarships or walk-on spots because they are related to someone or know someone. That’s not new.

Alabama just picked up a commit from 4 star 2023 QB Eli Holstein. So how of the 3 schools in the hunt for Arch Manning Texas is the only one without a 2023 QB on its radar. Alabama now has a 2023 commit, and UGA has another 2023 offer out there.

so if your in to reading tea leaves Texas certainly believes it has a good shot, and sark I think feels good about the QB position going forward In the event Arch doesn’t come here.

I think we just need to have a respectable season with meaningful progress in our football program and he’s ours. If we flame out like last season, he’ll keep his options open.

I think that’s largely true, although I think he’s likely going to make a decision before things get too deep in the season. He’s going to want guys to jump on board with him, so it’s not something that can go up to signing day.

I think it’s also a sign that Sark feels good about the QB room with or without Arch. He knows he has Quinn for 2023 and Malik after that. So he really doesn’t need a QB recruit till the 2024 class. Obviously he’d love to have Arch, but getting Quinn kind of eliminated the absolute need.

Ol Gary will prove valuable but let's face it. This is Gary's last stop. He wants to ride this gig out into the sunset. He'll no doubt give you everything he's got. He's that type of coach. 👍

If Gary’s intentions were to retire then I don’t think he would have taken this gig. I think he wants one more shot and this job was a way to keep him engaged.

Read the article. Patterson says that he's happy helping at Texas, but he's probably not ready to close the door on being a head coach again.

Texas grabs commitment from Mater Dei tight end Spencer Shannon.

"The 6-foot-6, 237- pound prospect from Mater Dei (Calif.) is a player that has been on a steady rise. You can’t teach the size that he brings to the table. He is a broad-built, muscular athlete who is still scratching the surface of his game. With a frame to top out at 250 pounds easily, the future is bright for Shannon. The two-sport athlete plays baseball as well and exhibits very good functional movement and agility for someone his size. As he continues to refine his route-running and the nuances of the position where he can maximize his size and length, more layers of his game will take shape.

Do you know what the star rating is for each of these players?

As of this morning, the IT mods all have Texas leading for QB Arch Manning and Nahlin has him at 70% to Texas.
