So someone educate me on NIL. Surely the boosters fronting these NIL deals are making a cut of the profits these players will make from NIL right?I would be shocked if it were this amount.
Beat OUOk Texas fans, as we eluded to on here, the team that gets Arch Manning will have very high expectations because of the name and because he didn’t just sign for free. So what are your honest expectations?
I expect a recruiting boost. Arch won’t be expected to take over until 2024 at the earliest, so I’m not worried about that right now.Ok Texas fans, as we eluded to on here, the team that gets Arch Manning will have very high expectations because of the name and because he didn’t just sign for free. I would have to think a NC just because of the name. Rightfully or wrongfully. This kid will be under tremendous pressure just from his namesake from the fanbase and media imo.Beat OU
With NIL money involved I’m not sure a recruit like Manning will be told he’s riding pine for 2 years? I understand a redshirt year but anything beyond that I would think he would go somewhere where he could play early?I expect a recruiting boost. Totally agree.Manning would be under pressure regardless of where he went.
But they can’t receive NIL money until enrolled right? I was under the impression that they had to be enrolled before negotiating NIL but could be wrong? We all know Aggy didn’t folllw those rules and that’s why the NCAA is going to probably have a look see at Jimbo and AggyAny rumors of large NIL deals being reported are most likely false. No NIL deal can be given until the player signs their LOI. When/if these schools get caught passing out this kind of thing, they are going to get hit hard by the NCAA. Are you listening, aggy?
Where do you get two years? He still has to play his senior high school season this year. Redshirt in 2023, then possibly in the mix in 2024.With NIL money involved I’m not sure a recruit like Manning will be told he’s riding pine for 2 years? I understand a redshirt year but anything beyond that I would think he would go somewhere where he could play early?
You’re correct I seemed to have overlooked his senior year LOLWhere do you get two years? He still has to play his senior high school season this year. Redshirt in 2023, then possibly in the mix in 2024.
If Ewers lives up to the hype, he should be gone after 2023. Arch most likely will redshirt next year, then be in the mix in 2024. I could see Ewers staying one more year, then Arch would have a RS year, and a year to play behind Ewers. I think that would actually be the best for his development, and I don’t think he would have a problem with it.so where on the clock is Ewers? Meaning does this last year count as one year of NCAA eligibility? then 2022 is year two. 2023 Arch Red shirts and is quinn's last year. Is this correct?
Ewers can be draft eligible after next season since last year was a redshirt year.so where on the clock is Ewers? Meaning does this last year count as one year of NCAA eligibility? then 2022 is year two. 2023 Arch Red shirts and is quinn's last year. Is this correct?
it was 500,000. not sure if it was adidas or notI would be shocked if it were this amount.
Once we get past Kansas the sky is the limit.I would have to think a NC just because of the name. Rightfully or wrongfully. This kid will be under tremendous pressure just from his namesake from the fanbase and media imo.
I’m not surprised if you look at the history of the familyLooking for money isn't the top priority for any football player named Manning. They want to be successful, period. Success brings big money.
Although I'm glad he chose UT, I am kinda dumbfounded on why. Especially considering how poorly our program has performed for the last decade, on the field and in the draft. Maybe Ewers, Manning & Bijon will turn it all around. Time will tell.
Sark has a long track record of producing first round QBs. On top of that he has a really good relationship with the Manning family.Looking for money isn't the top priority for any football player named Manning. They want to be successful, period. Success brings big money.

Actually no. There’s no direct payback to the boosters. The idea is the booster’s business will benefit from the players advertising for them. For example, Red McCombs hopes to sell more Lamborghini’s by having Bijan advertise for his dealership. So someone educate me on NIL. Surely the boosters fronting these NIL deals are making a cut of the profits these players will make from NIL right?
It’s definitely a risk for the boosters or whoever wants to hand out endorsement deals. Someone like Arch will be well connected with national brands like Gatorade, Dick’s Sports, etc.I can say this and it goes for every team out there, imo there is no way in heck coaching staffs are not in step with boosters when it come to NIL deals. Now this is under the assumption that Boosters are getting a piece of the pie from NIL deals too. But there is no way a booster pays a player, say $3 mil NIL deal without knowing dang good and well what that player should expect as far as playing time etc. NIL is all about exposure and if the $3 mil. Player is riding pine, everyone loses. Imo the tail will be wagging the dog, boosters et al will be having huge say so’s on some teams where money talks.
Wait.....I thought that was what ou was/is going to do, you know, since Riley isn't there any longer and they hired Venables.I would have to think a NC just because of the name. Rightfully or wrongfully. This kid will be under tremendous pressure just from his namesake from the fanbase and media imo.
This is correct.NIL = endorsement deals. If Raising Canes wants to give Manning money to pimp chicken tenders on his social media then he can do that today. There is nothing the NCAA can do about that. It might make him ineligible to compete in his senior year of HS but it won't jeopardize his NCAA eligibility. The kid could even hire an agent and that agent could reach out to UT boosters to see if they would be interested in having Manning involved in marketing campaigns.
So tell me this @clob94, you played, if you got a big NIL deal in college, say $5 mil, you think you’d have the same incentive to bust your ass? I know it’s really on a case by case basis and someone like Manning probably would but some of those prima donnas out there are going to lose motivation imo. I could be wrong but I doubt it.This is correct.
First----- I missed this one. When I am wrong, I own it. I figured the money wouldn't be a huge factor for Manning. Trust me---- it came into play.
Second-- it may take several months for the details to come out, but rest assured--- his NIL deal is H U G E.
Venables wants a better NIL deal for himself and said he won’t win one game until his demands are metWait.....I thought that was what ou was/is going to do, you know, since Riley isn't there any longer and they hired Venables.
Reading a little more and a Baxter commitment feels imminent.
No doubt that he is going to make massive NIL dollars, but that’s not why he came to Texas. His last name is Manning, his uncles represent and have represented massive brands. The NIL money was going to be huge regardless of where he went to school. This is correct.
