Hmmm...First you have to control your state and get best players you can there..we have done that. Then, you go outside of the state to fill needs that aren’t strong in state at certain positions. A&M has 7 players out of state in Louisiana, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. Texas has 9 players out of state. Not sure you are dominating that. Just by first glance there are many more with Texas offers on our list than A&M offers on Texas list. Both programs are recruiting well...as they both should. Too fertile of grounds not to.
You do realize that every school gets a lift with a first year coach? Even Fran out recruited Mack in his first year.
Take a closer look at your recruiting class, it's heaviest at DB and where did Texas absolutely clean up last year? You know the answer. Your DB class is so strong because most were scared of trying to compete with Texas class last year, they were smart, I haven't seen a DB in Texas as good as Foster Cook Jamison or Sterns.
Your oline recruiting is one 5 star and a bunch of 3-star guys. We will see what happens with Shepherd, but for now he is still with Texas. The only position that is doing better than Texas is on the dline. And again, Texas cleaned up there last year as well.
Your QB recruiting is horrible.
Running back is marginal.
Good receivers but Texas has better.
Texas has better linebackers as well.
Your concern should be the 10 3-star players you took, and what is going to happen in this state if your coach starts to turn them away for better prospects. . I'm sure Texas high school coaches are going to love Jimbo if he does that. Texas is likely taking 8 more and if they do they also likely pass both you guys and Oklahoma.
You coach is smart to have loaded up like he did this summer, he knew he was going to be 7-5 or 8-4 and he needed to capitalize on the hype surrounding his hire. He doesn't get that next year. He's going to have to earn his recruits.
