2020 recruiting

Im just glad these guys are committing early enough to get that "TEXAS bump" in the rankings gradually instead of waiting to commit later and get that "bump" all at once....it would make some fan bases think there's some kind of conspiracy going on. LMAO!!!

Unfortunately you are wrong. They are already mad about the bumps Garth has experienced. They will be even more upset when Rivals catches up to 247 and ESPN on his ranking.

You would think these sites would have pretty iron clad rankings after a player's Sophomore season. Strange to me that they put so much emphasis on Junior and even Senior years.

Adrian Peterson best hs RB to come out in the last 30 years. Evans is on that same level.

I've seen Evans play many times. Tap the brakes on comparing him to AD though. He's not at his level at this time. Let's see how he improves for his senior year.

AP. Against Texas he didn't do squat all day the last time we played him.

Watched a couple of AD games when he was in high school......that kid was a man amongst boys out there....big,strong,fast.
Being from West Texas i watched a ton of Ced Benson he was pretty impressive at Midland Lee. Two of the best running backs ive ever seen in high school

Yes, but this has nothing to do with what either AD or Evans has done at the HS level and their potential going into their college careers. I'm in no way trying to discount how good Evans is or how good he potentially will be. He's a stud. I just don't think he's as good as AD was coming out of HS. That could change though.

I love evans, but after watching Kendall Milton's video, and reading his interview, he is my new #1 at RB. Kid reminds me of Ezekiel Elliott but with a good solid head on his shoulders.

But does he wear his undershirt like a crop top?

Had to go back a ways to find this thread haha.

3* RB, but will most likely see his stock rise after the recruiting services learn he is more of an ATH. We are recruiting him as a TE/ATH. But he could also play LB, H back type role (think OU TE's), RB, and WR.

He isnt a real 3 star.....he has offers from lots of schools including Florida, LSU. piggy, and several others.Sadly for aggy, his star rating is pretty much a lock to go up....

His rating may go up some but it seems he fits a pretty particular H-back skill set after adding some weight. As a RB, he probably won't ever be too highly rated. He's a bit of a project for Herman and Co. that will likely be a very important part of the offense as a blocker and occasional pass catcher (think a more athletic Beck).

2020 Offense Recruiting: A brief summary of where we stand at each position of the 2020 class.

QB - Texas has a great signal caller in the class in Hudson Card. They make take a second in Ja'Quinden Jackson who is an athlete that would start at QB.

Hudson Card - 4 star, #71 in nation - Texas Commit
Stud QB who fits at Texas well. Thriving in the Lake Travis offense which makes a transition to Texas easy. He's got a great arm and is a very athletic runner (prior WR).

Ja'Quinden Jackson
- 4 star, #45 in nation - Texas lean
Listed as an athlete but does want to play QB at the next level. Texas seems open to giving him an opportunity to give QB a shot and if that doesn't work out, there are plenty of options of where he could thrive.

RB
- Texas will battle for a 5 star RB in this class. Evans being the most likely but they are working hard on several others in a class that is stacked with RBs. They could end up with 2-3 RBs in the class with an every down stud, a scat back type and a H-back in current commit Hullaby.

Zachary Evans - 5 star, #2 in nation - Texas lean?
1 of 6 5 star RBs we have offered. He has all the tools to be a great college RB and 1st round NFL draft pick. Plenty of back and forth between him and Texas but this is going to be a fight to the end.

Kendal Milton
- 5 star, #15 in nation - OU lean
Some momentum early but seems to have swung to OU currently

Jase McClellan
- 5 star, #21 in nation - OU Commit
Jase committed to OU very early but it's clear his recruitment is still open. If Milton commits to OU, that could open the door for a flip.

Bijan Robinson
- 5 star, #26 in nation - Open
Stud RB out of Arizona, a state where Texas is building some strong ties. He has visited Austin multiple times including an official visit during the Spring game. Despite the distance, Texas is right in this one.

EJ Smith
- 4 star, #94 in nation - Open
Son of Emmitt Smith, very athletic APB. Texas recently offered so has some work to do in this recruitment.

Ty Jordan - 4 star, #362 in nation - Open
Scat back type with plenty of speed and good work in the receiving game

Jaden Hullaby - 3 star, #826 in nation - Texas Commit
Recruited for the H-back role. Add some bulk and think of him as a more athletic Andrew Beck. If he could have the success as a blocker that Beck had, he would be a great, though unexciting, addition to the offense.

WR - Not a high priority in this class given the young talent on campus but it's always good to add a couple of athletes at the position. Texas is in on some major recruits that fit the big body role of a LJH, CJ as well as some smaller more shift WRs.

Demond Demas - 5 star, #22 in nation - TAMU Commit
Big time WR who has made a seemingly solid commitment to TAMU. Things were looking positive for Texas so it was a bit of a surprise. We will keep pursuing but he seems entrenched.

Johnny Wilson - 5 star, #25 in nation - open
Losing out on Demas, Texas looked west and is pursuing California's best WR. With the turmoil present at the big Cali schools, the opportunity is there. Wilson is very interested in the horns and he plans to get on campus. Get him here and lets see what happens.

Mookie Cooper - 4 star, #63 in nation - Texas De-commit
Mookie was a huge addition to the recruiting class early on but then backed off his decision. Illinois seems to be the biggest threat at this time. Mookie is still interested in the horns so this one isn't over. He is extremely athletic with quick quickness, acceleration and agility.

Troy Omeire - 4 star, #87 in nation - Texas lean?
This seems to be a Texas vs TAMU battle. Momentum has gone back and forth but seems to be favoring the Horns currently. After Demas, he is the prized WR in the state.

Javian Hester - 4 star, #131 in nation
Burner out of Okla, will be tough to pull him from across the Red River.

Quentin Johnston
- 4 star, #298 in nation

Kelvontay Dixon - 3 star, #751 in nation - Texas lean
Brother of Keontay Ingram. He is an athlete who plays RB/WR roles. I think numbers at the RB role will get tight so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

TE
- I wouldn't be shocked to see Texas bypass the TE position this year unless one of their top targets wants to jump on board.

Darnell Washington - 5 star, #18 in nation
Elite talent with crazy size, 6'7.5 at 248 pounds. He is interested in Texas and has said he plans to visit. Get him on campus and see where this goes.

Jalin Conyers - 4 star, #286 in nation
Picked up a Texas offer at the Spring game. He plays DE, WR and TE roles in high school but it seems Texas wants him for the TE role. He is already 6-4, 220, so with some added bulk he could easily play on the end of the line.

Offensive Line
- Texas has 3 solid commits at this point (Garth, Parr, Majors) and my guess is they keep pursuing Lindberg and George and not much else unless they miss on both of those tackles. I think they'd take them both if they want in.

OT
Chad Lindberg
- 4 star, #75 in nation - Texas lean
One of the remaining pieces of the OL puzzle for 2020. He is a top OT talent in this class (#8 at position). He seems to be a very strong Texas lean and I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up in burnt orange. Stanford is the biggest competition.

Jaylen Garth
- 4 star, #163 in nation - Texas Commit
Former teammate of current freshman QB Roschon Johnson. Athletic tackle who has a shot to play LT in college.

Damieon George
- 4 star, #342 in nation - Texas lean?
Great size (6'6 350) who plays the position well in high school. Teammate of Zachary Evans and potentially a big player in how that recruitment ends as well.

OG
Logan Parr
- 4 star, #181 in nation - Texas Commit
Very solid interior prospect. Doesn't quite have the length for a tackle spot (6'3.5) but is well built and athletic.

Center
Jake Majors
- 4 star, #254 in nation - Texas Commit
Like Parr, lacks the height for a tackle spot but well built and athletic. Would be making a move to center so would have to adjust to that potentially if that is what the staff decides is best overall.

2020 Defensive Recruiting: A brief summary of where we stand at each position for the 2020 class

DT - With the 3 man front Texas often plays, we really just need one true DT each class. Getting a stud at the position each year is ideal but will be a challenge given how few and far between these types of players are

Vernon Broughton - 4 star, #72 in nation - Texas lean
At 6'5, and a lean 285 Broughton already has legit size to hold down the spot. Get him with Yancy and man, he could be a 315 pound statue. There is a lot in our favor in this recruitment currently but others are trying their best to pull Vernon away. He is one of the most important recruits in the class for Texas.

Jaquelin Roy - 4 star, #99 in nation - LSU lean
Jacobian Guillory - 4 star, #146 in nation - LSU lean
Both from SE Louisiana, it'll be hard to pull them out of the boot but we have created some in-roads in case Broughton chooses elsewhere.

DE

Jason Harris -
4 star, #126 in nation
Currently 6'7" and only 220 pounds, this guy has a lot of room to grow. He also plays basketball and has great athleticism. Get some weight on him and he could cause tackles a lot of trouble. He is out of Arizona, but Texas continues to have a lot of success out West.

Alfred Collins - 4 star, #212 in nation - Texas lean
Collins, a Texas legacy, is currently quite high on the horns. His mom played basketball for Texas and they live just outside of Austin in Bastrop. TAMU is going after him hard, but Texas is still the likely landing spot.

Princely Umanmielen - 4 star, #253 in nation, Texas lean
Similar to Collins, Princely grew up just outside of Austin in Manor. Texas is considered the favorite right now but other regional schools (OU, TAMU) will be recruiting him hard.

LB - A true insider backer became even more important in this class with DeGabriel Floyd's career being uncertain at this point. Texas needs LBs that can hold up in the run game while also having enough speed to cover all the athletes Big12 offenses will throw at them.

Justin Flowe - 5 star, #3 in nation
One of the most elite recruits in the nation from California. Texas has thrown their hat in the ring and Flowe intends to make his way to Austin for a visit. Get him on campus and see what happens

Sav'ell Smalls - 5 star, #7 in nation
Similar story to Flowe, an elite OOS athlete with legit interest in Texas. He plans to visit and once he does we can really consider Texas as having a legit chance.

Damien Sellers - 4 star, #113 in nation
Another Arizona player that Texas is pursuing. There is legit mutual interest here.

Prince Dorbah - 4 star, #230 in nation - Texas lean
Texas sits in a good position with the Highland Park athlete. He would be a great fit in the scheme and Texas would gladly welcome his commitment.

Josh White - 4 star, #269 in nation - LSU lean
After visiting LSU, a barrage of crystal balls came through for LSU. That said, White visited the spring game (a bit of a surprise) and plans to return to Austin with his mother. LSU has the lead here but it seems Texas caught White's attention and isn't out of it.

Brennon Scott - 4 star, #291 in nation
Scott seems very open currently. He has a host of top offers at this moment. Texas seems to be in a good spot but it's too early in this recruitment to really name a favorite.

CB - Texas boasts another good DB class but not quite as strong as we have seen in recent years. Texas fortunately, doesn't have as great of a need for DBs this year given recent successes. That said, I think they will look to add several stars at both safety and CB.

Keele Ringo - 5 star, #12 in nation - Texas lean
Ringo is a top national player and the type of CB Texas would love to have. He is from Arizona but has Texas ties in coach Bryant Westbrook. There is competition out west and from other blue chip programs but as of now, Texas seems to be top dog.

Dwight McGlothern - 4 star, #122 in nation
Some of the shine has faded from Dwight's recruitment lately but he still remains a top 10 CB and a great addition wherever he ends up. Some attitude evaluation is needed and will likely determine how aggressive the staff is in pursuing him.

Jalen Kimber - 4 star, #239 in nation - Georgia Lean
Still a ways to go in this one but Georgia seems like the likely spot at this juncture

Jahari Rogers - 4 star, #268 in nation - OU lean?
An CB/Ath prospect and OU legacy, many have thought he was OUs to be had. Texas has done a great job getting in the conversation and nothing is a done deal at this point.

Ryan Watts - 4 star, #343 in nation
Watts recruitment picked up quite a bit this spring. All the regional powers are after him. Texas, OU and TAMU all seem to be in contention

Joshua Eaton - 3 star, #508 in nation
Like Watts, Eaton's recruitment has taken off recently. His ranking probably does not reflect his talent quite yet as all the big schools have come through with offers over the last few months. Texas is in a good position but still a long ways to go.

Safety -
Chris Thompson Jr -
4 star, #61 in nation - Texas lean
Thompson is one of the best safeties in the nation and Texas is in a great spot with the Duncanville player. He would be another top notch safety to add to our defensive backfield that boasts so many top recruits.

Bryson Washington - 4 star, #161 in nation - Texas lean
Like Thompson, a very solid safety prospect. Texas looks to continue its success in the Houston area with Washington who may be looking to commit relatively soon.

Xavian Alford - 4 star, #188 in nation - LSU lean
Alford and LSU picked up a lot of momentum recently. He did visit Texas for the Spring Game and seemed to really enjoy the visit. Texas has work to do but will work hard to turn the tide against the tigers.

Darius Snow - 4 star, #234 in nation
Similar to McGlothern, it feels like some of the excitement about Snow has faded (or melted). Still a top player and a solid addition but some further eval may be needed for Texas to know how to proceed here.

CB Jalen Kimber (UGA) and Safety Darius Snow (Mich St) are now effectively off the board. Both solid players that I think would have been good additions. Fortunately we still have studs at their positions that we are in good spots with. Get Ringo and CB and Thompson at S and I'll be happy.

No need to worry. Herman has proven that it's a marathon and not a sprint with two back-to-back top 3 classes. We will be fine.

I have a good feeling about Ringo, also have a good feeling about one of the two of Justin Flowe or Savell Smalls. Both are top 10 players nationally (I believe)
Also, I think we end up with both Chris Thompson and Jaquindon Jackson. Jackson, I have no idea where he ends up playing as he can go whatever the hell he wants to on a football field. He could go line up at linebacker and be the best linebacker in the state.

My vote is for linebacker then.

I think the interest is definitely mutual with Smalls and Flowe. Would love to get them on campus.

Ryan Watts committed to OU today. Our remaining CB options at this point are Kelee Ringo, Dwight McGlothern, Jahari Rogers (an OU legacy) and Joshua Eaton.

I still feel good about Ringo. Who knows about McGlothern. Rogers has real interest but of course will be tough to pull from across the river. Eaton has seen things blow up recently and is seemingly taking his time currently.

K. Crawford should be on that list, he might be the next CB commit.

TOS is saying Texas has Kitan Crawford very high on their board regardless of position.

Projected 2020 Recruiting Class

QB:
Hudson Card - 4 star Dual threat
Ja'Quinden Jackson - 4 star Athlete

RB:
Zachary Evans - 5 star, #1 in nation overall
Jaden Hullaby - 3 star H-back
Ty Jordan, Kelvontay Dixon or some other scat back type

WR:
Troy Omeire - 4 star
Quentin Johnson (or Devon Achane) - low 4 stars
Long shot and not included Johnny Wilson (5 star) and Mookie Cooper (4 star) back in the fold

TE:
Jalin Conyers - 4 star

OL:
Chad Lindberg - 4 star OT
Jaylen Garth - 4 star OT
Logan Parr - 4 star OG
Jake Majors - 4 star OC
+/- Damieon George - 3 star OT

DT:
Vernon Broughton - 4 star

DE:
Alfred Collins - 4 star DE
Princely Umanmielen - 4 star DE

LB:
Prince Dorbah - 4 star OLB
Brennon Scott - 4 star OLB

CB:
Kelee Ringo - 5 star
Dwight McGlothern or Joshua Eaton - 4/3 star
Kitan Crawford - 4 star Athlete

S:
Chris Thompson Jr - high 4 star
Bryson Washington - 4 star

This class would roughly score a 294 based on current rankings with 22 players. That score is typically good enough for a 3-5 team ranking. The selections I made may be somewhat optimistic but I did not include anyone that we are not the perceived leader for.

Solid list,

We are done at TE recruiting, Hullaby was the only TE/H-Back we are taking in this class.
We aren't getting George and we aren't getting Evans. Those guys are bama bound. However I think we get Bejan Robinson as our 5'star back to build around. Highly doubt we get Dwight McGlothern, he is blOwU/aggsy bound.

I also think we take one less DB and one more linebacker. I'm calling my shot that we get Justin Flowe.

I think we clean up in Arizona again

Why offer Conyers after Hullaby if we are done at TE? And it was our TE coach that offered.

Evans will be tough to call up until signing day. I agree, if we miss on him we have a good shot at another 5 star RB - but it will be tough given the timing and the fact Evans probably drags it out.

Who knows about Dwight, his recruitment has been tough to predict.

Would love to get in with Flowe or Smalls at LB. Not gonna make a call until they get on campus.
