B12 in 2017 Bowls

Conference perception matters in recruiting. It makes it harder for sec teams to brag to recruits when their bowl record doesn't match their narrative.

I didn’t say it didn’t matter. But whatever minute hypothetical benefit to Texas comes from an OU national championship is easily outweighed by the direct recruiting harm to us in the form of elite prospects we lose to OU.

I’m not sure recruits look at Bowl recored all that much.... coaches may use it against other coaches, but I don’t think recruits themselves are looking at it that much.

i completely agree BBR. when i try to convince my mom not to pull for t-sip i use these examples. i like the big 12 but i love ou. you always go with family over friends. big 12 = buddies for life...ou = la familia

I did a thread with a logical scenario how this goes down for the big 12. The sooner the breakup the better. The sooner we lock out the okies like we've locked out the arkies, the better. Death to ou and osu.

The Liberty Bowl is a respectable bowl game.

And ISU is going to bring it home in what was essentially a Memphis home game.

ISU had a good season for them. They beat OK and TCU the best teams in the Big XII. I thought it was hilarious when the ISU kid planted the Iowa flag on OK's field.

They lost close games against OSU, IA, WV, and TX.

And Matt Campbell is a coaching star on the rise.

Great season for ISU. They were in every game they lost, with their only double-digit defeat coming to Texas.

I like Campbell and pulled for them today. They are very solid. I have zero problems with Iowa state.

American Conference is overrated. Memphis is 10-2 (10-3 now) and ranked #20, playing a 7-5 (8-5 now) Iowa State team.

This shows how the level of competition increases, on a weekly basis, when playing in a P5 conference. Strong is back in his rightful location, non-P5.

They aren’t overrated... they are just limited on whst they can do week in week out like TCU was in the mountain west. I think if you put Memphis and a couple other AAC schools in the big 12 all of them would probably be better programs than ISU in time.

Currently, they are overrated. Iowa State beat them at the end of the year, in their bowl game.

Watch Auburn expose UCF on Monday. UCF has beaten a bunch of tomato cans and Auburn will spank their ass.

Memphis came in 20

If I was ranking teams I’d put Iowa State in the 25-30 range.

So is it that crazy to think the 30th ranked team could beat the 20th team by 1 point in any given week? Not really.

Pedophilia State University looks really good. They really know how to attract good looking young ballplayers.

I think the big 10 is a little upset they got left out of the playoff. Putting it on the pac 12 for the 2nd night in a row.

That's what they said about UCF when they played Baylor in the FB 4 years ago and we all know what happened.

And to go back a few more years they said the same thing about Boise State when they played OK.

I may be wrong but right now I'm giving UCF a chance.

Oh, I give UCF a chance, but if Auburn brings their A-game, this one will be ugly.

Thought Louisville would make it 0-4, but Lamar Jackson has looked like hot garbage throwing the ball today.

Oh well, a**hole Petrino takes an L, so it’s not all bad.

I hated this matchup. This was a game between two teams I can't stand. Thing is somebody had to win. Either way it's a bummer.

Recruiting between TX and OK is much different than it was when Switzer, Royal, and Akers were on the sidelines.

As a matter of fact recruiting has changed. Nowadays kids commit before their senior season. And for the last few seasons OK had recruited less and less in TX, they're signing a lot of kids from other states now. And they're coming up with top ten classes.

And fwiw when OK won the nc Texas signed a lot of great players. Guys like Derrick Johnson, Jon Scott, Michael Huff and so many more.

When TX won the nc OK recruited guys like Sam Bradford, Jermaine Gresham, and other top players.

Times have changed.

Winning our bowl game in Houston, combined with an Aggie loss, should boost Houston recruiting momentum for the Horns.

When Tom Herman was at UH he said he wanted to dominate recruiting in Houston. And in his first season he signed Ed Oliver the first 5* player not to sign with a P5 school. He made AA as a freshman. He signed other great players in Houston. I hope he carries that dominate Houston attitude to Texas. If so watch out

Bama getting throttled by Utah was the biggest upset

I always pull for the Big 12 in bowl games. So I like the results so far. I even . . . Gasp . . . want OU to beat the Dawgs!
Apparently Mayfield has been deathly ill with the flu, so if he plays well enough to win it will be a Christmas miracle and only add to the legend and lore of Mayfield.

And Memphis’ 2 losses were to the same team UCF, while Iowa State lost to at least 4 different Big 12 teams this year. Memphis was overrated at #20 & the American Conference is overrated.

UCF will get smoked by Auburn. UCF doesn’t play defense.
