Basketball

Apparently, Ewers and Bijans NIL valuations are much more lucrative because of their higher exposure and name recognition. Also, football is a sport with a higher following than any other sport.
I get that. But I would imagine the top 5* BB recruits can still make $1MM+ in college NIL money.

Texas just picked up a transfer portal commitment from UTA freshman guard chendall weaver. Weaver was the WAC freshman of the year shot 40% from 3. Could be a Jabari Rice type player. Solid pick up.

You know a lot is being made of the freshman decomitting and stuff and while it does suck and I do think holland especially is going to be a really good player the truth is if you look at the teams that made runs in the tournament weren’t a lot of 5 star freshman on those teams. I think the portal is how you win in college basketball these days to be honest.

Wow Lance Blanks has passed away

Wtf. This hits me hard. Lance, Travis, and Joey, aka BMW, were my first Texas basketball heroes. Attended so many games in person, and met Lance several times. He will be sorely missed. RIP Mr Blanks.

I recall Sitting in my living room - 8 or 10 of us there - watching that Elite 8 game against Arkansas. If we just had 90 more seconds...

I actually got to play pick up ball with those guys in Gregory Gym during the off season. Back then it was common for guys on the team to run pickup games with regular students. It was a blast. I was the slow guy who could shoot the occasional three and play a little D. Lance, Travis Mays, Joey Wright and Alvin Heggs were all super cool guys.

In reality, the games were mostly watching Lance, Travis, and Joey seemingly fly through the air doing incredibly acrobatic plays. They were cool to come play with the regular students and would also recognize and acknowledged you if they ran into you on campus.

RIP

My favorite game was Florida in the drum. Remember shit talking Dwayne Schintzius(sp?) talking about Mays, from Ocala, FL being a Florida reject? And Texas ran them boys out the building.

Reportedly Texas hasn’t released Ron Hollander from is letter of intent. So maybe it is and NIL thing and they are trying to work it out. Theoretically I don’t guess they have to release him… could play hard ball.

Speaking of basketball the NBA playoffs are in full swing. Denver looks like they'll be the team coming out of the west.

Affectionately speaking Nikola Jokic is one bad ass white boy 😂

He’s a thug just like the rest of us white boys.

You're not watching the NBA if you believe that. Jokic had at least 2 triple doubles against Phoenix and scored 50 points in game 4. Bill Lambeer never scored 50 points in a game his
life.
Lambeer won two rings. Jokic will not win one.

You can't keep changing the subject. You compared them in regards to talent and it's not close. Jokic has time to win a championship.

Man that was a tremendous display of offensive basketball last night. They didn't really guard each other Jokic and Anthony Davis played great last night.
Jokic is the most watchable player in the NBA. Slow, looks doughy, seems to struggle getting up and down the court, but good lord - I've never seen a guy that big that sees the court as well as he does, passes as well, and has such an arsenal of shots - the Kareem sky hook, the Dirk fadeaway, the old fashion 3 pointer - he is fun to watch.

Hell he even dunked the ball 3x once on Anthony Davis. Early on I saw him run up and down the court, but he seemed to slow down as towards the end. He did make 2 clutch free throws when the Lakers pulled within 3. I don't know much about his defense but to be honest I haven't paid much attention to that part of his game.

Jokic has an old man’s game and I love it. He reminds me of the old guys playing pick up ball at local YMCA and embarrassing all the young guys with extreme fundamentals. Jokic is probably the most unathletic player in the league but he’s got the highest basketball IQ. He literally never jumps. He uses his anticipation and positioning to gain an advantage over his opponents. Very similar to Larry Joe Bird.

Don't fall for the slow white guy thing. Jokic is athletic. He's not a Vince carter super freak but he is quicker than you think and can jump higher than you think.

He's a slow white guy with a 2 inch vertical. He's crafty with his use of ball fakes and head fakes. He has unbelievable vision and knows precisely what his opponents are doing in any given situation which is why he's one of the best passers in the league. He does have quick hands and very nimble footwork that makes him almost impossible to guard when he's in the post or on one of the elbows. His only weakness is when he's trying to guard in space away from the paint. Because of his lack of quickness he can't stay in front of quicker opponents who can beat him off the dribble.

His vertical is 28 inches that high enough for you? He's 83" tall and his wingspan is 87". He had a spin move last night and dunked on Anthony Davis.

You also said he was doughy. Well let me put it this way. The strongest player in NBA history was Wilt Chamberlain and it's not even close. Karl Malone and Wes Unseld were second and third but Jokic will pass Malone and Unseld before he's through. He sets some brutal pics.

And the Lakers/Nuggets has all the makings of a great series.

28" vert is pretty bang average honestly. I bet he runs about a 5.0 40 and probably can't bench the bar.

From almost every athletic measurable, he is extremely average.

He was the 41st player taken for a reason.

And can someone explain the Miami Heat? They're not that good they were an 8 seed for a reason. And last night they beat the Celtics convincingly.

28 inch vertical is very poor for NBA centers. When you account for the BS factor, it's reduced to less than 20 inches. Every team inflates their players' stats to make them appear bigger and more athletic than they really are.

Tyrese Hunter coming back

Man if I was Ron holland I’d reconsider your desire to leave. This team is set up perfectly for you to thrive.

Not a good athlete blah, blah, blah. Very poor vertical jump blah, blah, blah.

That boy is a bad ass. The only player that's more watchable is Steph Curry and there's no sin being behind Steph.

But Jokic not Seth is
the best player in the NBA

I’d rather Hunter just go away tbh. As well as those two lying top recruits.
Hunter really wasn’t good last year. Hopefully he will rebound. He’s still very talented. Texas hasn’t released Holland from his letter of intent. I guess they don’t have to. We’ll see what happens.
