Governor Abbott Shoots Down Harris County Judge Hidalgo's mask mandate and fine

That guy is a giant Ahole
Totally. And here's the part nobody wants to hear---- technically he isn't breaking any laws. Of course we all know what he was attempting to do--- shock people and get attention. It's one thing to shock people. I love shocking people. But not in an a-hole way. And that's the double edge of living in a country like ours. People have the freedom to be complete a-hole even if you don't like it. I've always said "if you simply ignore people and don't give them the attention they seek, they will give up and stop---". I just don't think most folks have the intestinal fortitude to ignore a deushe canoe of his ilk.

Bingo! I practice this on OB a lot.

I don’t know, I don’t think he was going to just go away if ignored. Seems the store manager had to request he take his N95 Klan mask off or leave.

I walked into COSTCO in Selma today without a mask. Dude at the door tried to stop me. I explained that calling the cops wouldn't do any good and that being FORCED to wear a mask might be COSTCO's company policy, but booting me out of their store would simply cost them my business as well as attract negative media attention. He nodded and I walked in and did my shopping.

For some of you gun gurus. I went to buy a Browning 6.5 creed on Bass Pros website and it says not available in your area. It’s on sale but if I call do they give rain checks? Maybe someone had the same issue? HELP

@Bwilk55 what are your thoughts on the mask wearing that a lot of folks are doing? Do you wear one outside of work.

I think it is a very sensible measure to slow the spread of a respiratory virus like coronavirus. One of the best attributes coronavirus has is that it can be carried and spread by asymptomatic individuals. By having everyone wear a mask, we can reduce the number of asymptomatic people out in public unknowing spreading the virus with every cough, sneeze or even talking. I think the protection for the wearer of the mask is minor at best as most materials being using won't filter the viral particles very well. That said, most infections are probably occurring from people getting the virus on their hands and then bringing it to their face. If you want to protect yourself, avoid public places and wash your hands frequently.

Mask wearing is also safe with little to no negative medical consequence to the wearer.

So I go to Best Buy yesterday thinking it was the ol’ open for 25% capacity deal, WRONG. I get there and a couple of sheeple workers are standing around in that little silly makeshift tent and wearing masks of course. I walk up ask if I can go inside and the sheeple worker says “no we’re not letting people in.” And I ask him then how do I get what I need today, he said “ well you can go online or you can show me a picture of what you want and one of the staff will go back and get it” so I said “ well how long until you open your doors for people to come inside” and he said “ maybe never”.

Personally I like to physically look at most things before I buy and I’m not willing to take the word of a current millennial as to the quality of a certain product.

so I’m in search of a tv, any recommendations near New Braunfels for an electronics store. Conns?

I agree with you 100%. Check Walmart. I just bought a 60" Vizio TV there last week for $478.00.

Bell....Just my opinion, but I would not buy a paper clip at Conns. I think there is a reason it is called Conns......Have you tried Sam's or Costco?

My prediction is that right before they go bankrupt they will decide that it is safe for customers to come inside again. Funny how those things tend to work out.

I still don’t know anyone that has “the virus” which is truly baffling considering they claim it’s much more contagious than the flu. I can name 20 people close to me off the top of my head who got the flu this year. I’m smelling some bs with this whole Coronavirus mess.

So because you don't know anyone that has it, that means it isn't real? Why don't you go to a hospital and ask them it its "bs"? Thanks for the dumbest post I've read all week. And of course, it comes from a Sooner.

Im thinking it's culling people with underlying conditions just like the flu does. Sorry, shutting down the country is an overreaction. 7700 people die in the US everyday and I think the pro Coronavirus stats are dipping into that daily total and being very liberal in their labeling of who is dying from "the virus" but the sheeple like you can't make that connection. And I can tell by your response that the fear machine has infiltrated your every thought. I have a feeling that you think getting the virus = death sentence. That's the problem with some of you.Let me guess you wear a mask when driving too?

Tell us hoss, how many people do you personally know that have caught the virus, were hospitalized and lived to tell about it? Will we shut down the country for the flu this coming year? If not, why not? we know it's going to cull the weak?

Your deductive reasoning skills are on par with any other dumbass Okie. Not sure why I'm cowering with fear just because I point out how dumb you are.

But let me tell you chief, I do know a 46 year old man in perfect health that damn near died from the virus. But I didn't need that to tell me it is real. Do you honestly think the entire world would shut down over something insignificant? Why don't you ask NYC if it is fake?

It’s as real as the flu that kills many every year. Last I checked we didn’t shut the world down for that. As I said it’s going to cull the weak and those with compromised immune systems. Hide under your bed if you want, I’ll continue to live life and encourage everyone to get out of the house and work towards herd immunity.

Your friend’s immune system was apparently compromised but I’m glad he recovered just like the other 99% of the people who get it. Do you wear a mask when out and about?

I wear a mask when it is asked by the business owner. It's not that big of a deal. Again, I have no idea why I'm "hiding under my bed" because I point out your ignorance. Like I said, your deductive reasoning skills are terrible. You really need to educate yourself. This has a much higher mortality rate than the flu (3-4% vs .1%).

What was the mortality rate for HIV/AIDS if contracted? Did we shut the country down? Hell for a long time the medical community wasn’t even exactly sure how it was transmitted other than thru silly sex. I rest my case. This is an over blown knee jerk reaction that has now turned political in the U.S.A. You can sit here and deny if you like but you look foolish.

The AIDS analogy is even dumber than your flu analogy. You can rest your case all you want, but you are the one who looks foolish.

I think we can both agree that neither collusion, impeachment or Coronavirus will prevent Trump from remaining our President thru 2024 and that makes us all proud I know. He’s handled this hybrid flu like a pro.

Agreed. This one guy I know, knows this one dude that isn't 65+ and in perfect health (he did a body cavity search as well as check his blood and urine to make sure) and he almost died. It is like I said before. If you go outside, you're going to die. Unless you go to Costco, Wal-Mart, Fast food drive-thru, Walgreens, Construction sites, CVS, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. Those places can't catch covid! You're safe there. If we tried to reopen the clothing stores and what not surely 7 thousand-million-trillion people would die.

I'd also like to point out, that most of those places now require masks. What a full proof plan. Before, you could go to those places and be just fine, but now you can go to those places and be ever more just finerest! I mean, the genius of putting on a shitty made piece of cloth that helps you breath your own CO2, doesn't keep in droplets or keep them out is beyond all understanding.

Anybody old enough to remember Bert the turtle? A little black and white cartoon that taught you how to "duck and cover" if you saw a bright flashing light in the sky? A nuclear explosion? All you had to do, according to the government and the local school district was duck and cover under your desk and you'd be just fine. You see, what you didn't know was your desk was made of magic plywood and nuclear resistant steel that would create a perfect cocoon around you and protect you from the 5000 degree Celsius heat that the blast emanated. All you had to do was duck under your desk and you were A OK.

This is the new duck and cover. The CDC and the powers that be in government WANT you to feel safe wearing a stupid mask that gives you just as much protection from a disease that the magical desk gave our parents against a nuclear blast.

Fools. The lot of us.

clob, you nailed it. Go to the front of the line. Sadly, common sense is rare these days.

This is turning into a full blown control exercise. Look at the Florida mayor this weekend that shut down the beach, not because anything bad happened, it was just because people weren’t social distancing. Basically, they got punished.
