Players to Watch for Texas A&M

  • #11 Nic Scourton, EDGE - 1 Thing: The prized transfer asset this offseason, Scourton began the season as a high first-round projection in the 2025 NFL Draft (see below) and hasn't disappointed. Scourton is 10th in Pressures and 5th in Hurries in the SEC, over the past three games however he has yet to get to the quarterback and finish. His last sack came in Week 9 against LSU.

  • #18 Cashius Howell, EDGE - 1 Thing: Howell leads the Aggies in Overall Pass Rush Grade at PFF while winning at a 15.1% clip. During SEC play in 2024, Howell is 2+ pressures in each game, including 3+ pressures in 4 of those games. Howell was a transfer this offseason who led the MAC in Sacks while playing for Bowling Green. As like Scourton, Howell will play both Left End as well as Right, rotating throughout the game.

  • #4 Shemar Stewart, DE - 1 Thing: Listed a 6-6 290 lbs, Stewart is arguably a better pass rusher than Nic Scourton on a pound-for-pound position-by-position point of view. Stewart is just 3 pressures, 2 sacks, and 2 hurries behind Scourton. Stewarts ability to move around from the inside out and continue success regardless of alignment allows A&M to utilize its best group of rushers from play to play. Speaking of rushing, Stewart grades out through 11 games as the 3rd best run defender from a "grade" perspective at PFF.

This is a Segment, presented by my great sponsor @Alex Dunlap and the NEW Football with Friends Beef Jerky, it's called "According to PFF"

1) According to PFF, Texas has 7 of the 9 highest-graded defensive linemen in Pass Rush Grade. The Shemars for A&M has been great this year, I know the grades are in the high 60's, but impressive nonetheless, despite being 10th and 11th on this list, after Jermayne Lole.

2) According to PFF, Texas has the Edge on the offensive line, to nobody's surprise. It is interesting to note that Texas' 6th-graded Offensive Lineman, Cole Hutson is ahead of A&M's third-best lineman, Chase Bisontis. Kelvin Banks and Cam Williams vs. Nic Scourton and Cashius Howell has me "giddy"..

3) According to PFF, here are the 11 opponents Texas has played this season, sorted by Defensive Team Tackling Grade. Texas A&M on tape and paper is the 2nd best team Texas will play all regular season, next to Georgia. Georgia has been the best-graded tackling team so far this season among opponents, A&M is 31 points worse and ranks as the 4 worst tackling team Texas has played in 2024.

  • According to Mark Passwaters on Wednesday Night, "I'm telling you right now: if there's any chance Reuben Owens can play, he's going to. And I think there's more than just a chance."
  • Notable AggieYell Q and A's with Mark Passwaters
    • Q: Who has the most daunting coordinator task?
      A: A&M D - against Sark and A&M O - against tu D
    • Q: We always wanted to show Texas who was boss, now we enter this game as under dogs yet again, what hope do we have to even compete with these guys? (AgsRule97!)
A: You’re joking, right? There’s plenty of reason to think A&M can hang in this game and win. They can run on anyone. Marcel Reed is playing his best ball. They can pressure an immobile quarterback. It’s at home.
    • Q: Anyone we can expect to see play for the remainder of the season without burning a redshirt? (6.William.Bs)
A: Well, there may be this one guy. He plays running back..
  • An Interesting Texas Practice Note??? (from an AggieYell poster)
    • "I am ready and can’t wait to get to my seats. The hate is real! I was sent a video from my son. A girls he’s friends with at tu sent it to him. The horns have been practicing the last 2 1/2 hours with the “Aggie War Hymn” blaring on the field. I hope our guys are ready for war!!!"
  • College Gameday Guest Picket: "Dude Perfect"
    • Shocker... that they dropped the ball on having "Motor City" Dan Campbell, the Head Coach of the Detroit Lions to sit in next to McAfee for this one
