Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Let Arch Madness Begin!)

4. I know Brandon Harris is officially the team's general manager and he's slated to get a hefty raise coming out of this extension news, but I still feel like Sarkisian is the true GM of the program. Nothing happens without his fingerprints being all over it. It means in the month of December that he was juggling ...

a. Being the head coach of a playoff team.
b. Being the play-caller on offense of a playoff team.
c. Being the finisher of putting the final touches of a No. 1-ranked recruiting class together.
d. Supervising and spearheading all Portal activity.

He's basically doing everything but washing the socks and jocks. Harris is very well respected and is viewed as an indispensable piece of the program, but he's more of Sarkisian right-hand lieutenant than he is someone like Michael Lombardi, who is Bill Belichick's new GM at UNC and brings 30 years of experience in NFL front offices.

I'm still 1,000-percent in favor of Sarkisian eventually pushing for a hire for someone like Lombardi to help do some of the heavy lifting in these massively important areas in a way that would allow Sarkisian to focus as much as possible on ... oh, I don't know ... getting his offense above the 20-point mark in important playoff games. If the sport is going to be more and more like the NFL, not having someone with chops on the level of Lombardi in the GM position means that you're not maximizing what you need in that position at a program like Texas.
This is the key.

I think Arch's mobility and physicality can help make up for Sark treating the offense like a part time job. But it's unfair to everyone if Sark isn't at his best.

You keep harping on this and it’s true and nobody else wants to talk about it.

They just want to keep saying Sark is a great play caller

Well, I appreciate Ketch saying it.

I do wish someone in the media room would begin to press the issue during the Q&A sessions.

Per B/S where I disagree:

My gut feeling says 2025 Horns are better at QB, RB, WR, worse at OL and TE, but Arch puts up more PPG. At WR, when we were playing for all the marbles, we had Silas Bolden and a true freshman on the field. Gut feeling says we’re better next year. Healthy Baxter >>2024 RBs

Just a thing to ponder…we may hit the NIL lotto again with Dia Bell. Well maybe not the full Powerball, but 5 out of 5 numbers without the powerball hit. His family has money as well. He probably will want to get paid, but may not demand full market value if he determines Texas is better for his future. Especially after Arch goes #1 and we’re the new Ohio State/Georgia in a few years.

Sark will always have a QB ready to roll. The pants pissers will continue to freak out.

They’ll be here in July talking about how there is something seriously wrong with our recruiting. Seriously, bury your head in the sand if you want. Maybe Sark isn’t the guy. Lol

What does ready to roll mean??

His quarterback results in 4 years at Texas haven't been good enough. Better quarterback play in the last two seasons with a former No.1 overall prospect would probably mean Texas has a national title or is on the verge of one tomorrow night.

Based on what?
Feel like we get a transfer. And backs that their skill sets play off each other. I love Wisner but he is barely more than JAG. Blue was inconsistent. Sark and Saban rant and rave about CB4. Gut feeling says he’s an upgrade. Our RBs were JAGS most of the season

He's a 4.8 YPC guy as a freshman coming off a major knee injury.

That's not subjective.

I know, I’m not sure we ever saw him healthy his freshman year. He gutted it out and was decent. Sark and Saban are sky high on his skills we keep hearing about. Maybe he’s a RB version of Shipley here. I think he solidifies our backfield, unless we bring in a stud in the portal

I keep throwing this into the ether because it makes so much sense. Tyson for ASU Is catching balls IN ATX next year. No real info, just a gut feeling. He is a Texas boy with a wide open lineup, and Arch.

I like it. From your keyboard to the sports god's ears.

Ignore it. It's uninformed.
B/S - Arch is every two-bit click baiters wet dream. We should expect an endless firehouse of Arch rumors, from him portaling out or going to the NFL mid-season, to him demanding a switch to Adidas from Nike or he will sit out the next game, to how he switched cereals for breakfast and it’s affected his throwing arm.

The biggest buy known to mankind.

Interested in your answer to a question about Sarkisian passing Mack Brown eventually as Horns coach. Your answer said Sarkisian won’t pass him to “get the top spot.” Does that mean you think Brown is ahead of DKR as most successful Horns Head Coach? I assume not, but wondering.
