Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Let's talk about the quarterbacks...)

Interesting to see Anwar and Ketch use the same Sark quotations. I guess everyone is starting to see the writing on the wall that Thompson has failed to win the start by not being better than Card in spite of being around longer.

Kind of surprised that there is not more interest in Texas Tech or Oklahoma State to be pulled into another conference. Big 12 seems to be a zombie (post UT and OU out) and might not be seen as a Power 5 level conference.

I think the longer this goes without Sark naming a starter bodes well fo Card.

That's true. I'd still stick around for the entirety of this year, even more so with that reality.
Yeah, at this point it wouldn't be wise to transfer. Get a year under Sark, be ready in case opportunity knocks during the 2021 season, and worst case scenario enter the portal in January with two full years of eligibility left.

I think the thought is that he could go somewhere else and lay right away in 2021, but what kind of program could such a move be possible that's a better situation than the one he's at?

I thought there was a July 1 deadline for transfers to be able to play in 2021? Could be wrong...

I’m 66 and I have no idea who TAT is.

Your kids know.

Thanks for reading!

Anything new on the recruiting front thought most guys wanted to commit before their senior season. I think we get Campbell but who else on the OL and who at WR? I think we get Finkle at DT who else on Def? We need a CB and DE. How many will they save for transfers next year?

It bridges the decades, but Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City was fairly iconic.

And no Baywatch (Pam Anderson) or Singled Out (Jenny McCarthy)?! I would suggest those were 2 of the top 5 90s girls for many on this board.

No Sarah Jessica Parker for me. I don’t think she’s good looking in the face at all. Now Kim Cattrell and Kirstin Davis? All day, baby.

That the QB position, with the O-line struggling seems pretty scripted by the coaches. I could be wrong, but it seems like a sitation where they created an environment where it was impossible for the QBs to have much success in order to see how they would respond.

This is a pretty common training tactic in just about any military training I’ve attended and, based the information that has come out about the scrimmage, sounds very familiar.

@Ketchum @Anwar Richardson Did Charles Thompson overplay his hand? In the spring he was very vocal about Casey being the starter or he is gone. Now they are left in a close fall camp competition. Sark is holding his cards very close to the best. Casey likely wouldn’t have a viable high end landing spot for 2021 if he were to transfer at this point.

Thompson has been given every opportunity and maybe he is elevating his game but Card keeps sticking around…the Matt Cassel reference and the turnover quotes from Sark are huge….outside of the QB situation, I’m glad to see Cook coming along after being set back when he tried to transfer, as well as Whittington starting to make some noise

Based on this article we had better prepare ourselves for an 8-4 season. That, frankly won't get it done IMO.
This is what I’m thinking as well. The phrase the more things change, the more they stay the same seems to be especially true with Texas football.

Sark pulled the Kobayashi Maru!! He is testing the character in a “no-win” scenario.

It's quiet out there.

I don't think they originally planned to save many. It remains to be seen now.

Personally really excited Anthony Cook is emerging. Having two more Lamar guys in our secondary playing to their potential is a part of a pipeline we need to keep going.
I'd love to see him have a big year and save how his career gets remembered.

Carrie almost made the list, but it was just too years and it felt like that character spiked in the 2000s.

Nah, he just hasn't taken advantage of opportunities.

8.5 is my o/u for the season, so 8-4 is definitely possible.

It wouldn't help recruiting, but win the bowl game and an 9-4 team will be very salty in 2022 when the rest of the B ig 12 is rebuilding/reloading.
