BUY or SELL: Tom Herman ends up as the second best coach in program history?
(Sell) Give Mack some credit. This comes from a guy that was constantly pointing out his faults over the years, including years when it wasn’t cool to do so.

It's a pretty sad indication of how low the bar has been for coaches at Texas if Mack Brown is the 2d best coach in program history.
- It took Brown 7 years to win his 1st championship at Texas, longer than it took DKR, Akers, McWilliams or Mackovic.
- He only won 2 championships in 16 years at Texas, while Stoops has won 10 championships in 16 years at OU.
- Brown also got routed by OU 4 times more than any other coach in the history of the program.
- True, he had a lot of 9 and 10 win seasons, but he also lost 68% of his games against Top 10 opponents, a pretty good indication along with lack of championships that weaker scheduling was a considerable factor in his win record.
Brown is arguably the 2d best coach for no other reason than only one other coach at Texas has ever won a NC. That doesn't make Mack an elite coach, it merely indicates that Texas really hasn't been as elite a program over the years as its big name persona makes it out to be. In reality, the only thing truly elite about the Texas program is that it has at its disposal all the resources to
someday become an elite program.
