I refuse to let the OL be the alibi for the Collin Johnson discussion, Come on.It could be if when CJ is on the field DO fails at pass protection and SE doesn't have a chance to get CJ the ball.
Let's not lose sight of the fact that the OL is by far the biggest weakness on the offense, just to try to spread the responsibility around. Yes CJ needs to step up. Yes I hope Carter and Young would perform if CW came off the field.
Yes I hope some scheme innovations would be helpful (air raid OL splits? more quick slant plays? something?).
Sure, some have noted the OL has sucked for a decade.
But what concrete resources have been devoted to / added to solving the problem? Like finding and signing 5 legitimate blue chip OL every year. Even if they are in California, Iowa, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, or Ohio. I'd sign a strength athlete from Sweden if he was 6'5" #310 and could move like a ballerina.
My random thought on the offense- Herman knows Beck is not it but is stuck with him until the end of the season.
And, if this is true- why doesn't Herman take "secret" control of the offense and start making it better??

If Sam throws a touchdown on the last play instead of the int. this board would be predicting a table run and rematch with ou in the conference championship. One play. One very very bad stupid play. C'mon man. Breath. Yes, this season has cratered. But at least we are in every game. I think the reason CTH is sitting Foreman and a few others is because these guys are either dogging it or are trouble makers behind the scenes. I'm guessing Foreman is both. CTH is making it clear that the culture will change but give him time, the past 7 years have been a steaming pile. It will take 2-3 years to fully purge the old culture. It will happen. Patience people. Having said that I am very afraid of the Baylor game. I feel a very uncomfortable game coming up this Saturday. We need our defense to stay on point because this offense won't carry anyone. Hang in there everyone. The times they are changing.

I think Herman has already purged the culture. He said the buy-in was there. Guys who didn’t want to be a part of the program left. This team is playing hard and not giving up. They mentally rebound quicker after a loss. Foreman was benched, but Reggie looked fine in his absence. Herman and his staff successfully instituted their culture this offseason.

I was quoting a post that was saying he was a much better QB due to coaching and replied that the running and line helped more essentially. Was not intending to say he played great.

@Ketchum , against OSU did Ehlinger play better than against USC? I'm not so sure. His improvement is not obvious. I think the coronation of Sam as UT's next great QB has come too early. He needs to prove it rather than just proving his running skills make him a better option than Beuchele behind this atrocious o-line. At best our glass is 1/4 full.
I still have Buechele's interception in the 4th qtr. of last year's Kansas game burned in my mind.

We've had how many OC & OL coaches over the past several years - and how many 'quality' lineman have we produced?
I'm with you....it should not be this earth shattering to recruit top quality lineman....coach 'em up and have them produce at a acceptable level on the e field.
Sh*t.....the top programs continually reload their O&D lineman each season with no drop off. With us, we have a continued debacle with players NEVER realizing their potential and/or top recruits transferring out to play elsewhere.

If the o-line is really the problem why should we have confidence in an improved team in 2018? Because without Williams next year's line is the same poo-poo platter of poor play ... only Kerkstetter might markedly improve.

The reality is that I used that specific comment to play off the comment I made about Orlando, who I said was earning every penny.
The problem with the comment is that everyone focuses on the comment instead of the things that lead to the comment.
Can you name 3 examples? Not saying you are wrong. I'm interested in seeing what you are seeing about his improved play.
Maybe shack too? Everybody else will have 3 years of experience I think. Hard to expect massive improvement after that. They are what they are.

I was just asking If he is running through his professions better or making better decisions just give me some examples or throwing intermediate routes quicker or whatever you believe is evidence he has improved over the course of the season.
In that situation, the QB has to throw the ball to a spot where only an offensive player can get it or out of bounds.
