Lincoln Riley to USC

USC cheerleaders are the sexiest in all college football. Not even close.
^^^^this times 100 😊
if Lincoln Riley is smart he'll have the song girls serve as their hosts to when recruits visit the campus. I know I would.

I knew it had declined, but I wasn't aware that Lincoln Riley's offense had regressed this much over the past three seasons. It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers Jeff Lebby is able to put up there.

He had a freshman QB for 2/3rds of the season. 500 YPG is still an impressive number regardless.

all the above re: USC chicks are true. Guess we will find out if having them on the sidelines while the team goes 8-4 was worth it. If he got the private jet all to himself the answer is probably in the affirmative.

It's staring you right in the face, but you don't see it. Spencer Rattler is not a good QB.
Yeah, the mythical "quarterback whisperer" was finally going to take a piece of clay from scratch and mold him into something special. Oh well, at least he can take partial credit for Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts.

I would say he can take about 7/8ths of the credit for Baker and Kylar. If they were that good they would have never transferred. Caleb Williams was a freshman all American this season. I would say he was a success this season for a freshman.

Everyone missed on Mayfield he was the first true freshman walk on to start for a power 5 program and I believe he was 5-0 with some crazy stats before he was injured. He was Freshman Player of the Year in the Big 12. He left because of his perceptions of how Kingsbury treated him during his injury. He was also pissed about the scholarship issues and an open competition with Davis Webb in the spring. Murry left because of the the s*&t show Sumlin created with the aggy football program. Both guys had been running the same offense since high school. It was one of the reasons they chose OU. They were plug and play.

Baker’s numbers were far from stellar in his time at Tech. Same thing with Kylar. Go look his numbers up, they were not very good at all. Lincoln Riley is the guy who really developed both of them as a QB. Jalen Hurts was a plug and play guy so I’ll give him that one.

Hurts was not a plug and play guy. He had to learn a new offense. Mayfield and Murry ran versions of the Air Raid in high school and college before they transferred.

Mayfield didn't get 1st team reps until Michael Brewer went down. 5 and 2 as a starter 2315 Yards, 12 TDs, 9 INTs. He was dealing with a knee injury the last 2 games. That was not a very talented Tech team.

Murry was on a really bad aggy team with a toxic culture. Two 5 star QBs transferred the same year and both guys ended up in the NFL.

Both guys would have started for their respective teams the next year. The reason they left was personal issues with the coaching staff not lack of playing time.

Sumlin had similar QB issues at AZ. Not sure whether he overpromises or just doesn’t know how to deal with open competition. Regardless, he creates toxic QB rooms.

Lincoln Riley's offense isn't a true "air raid" offense though. It's a hybrid to a true air raid attack. To Lincoln Riley's credit he kind of molded his offense to fit each QBs strengths. That's what I mean by those guys weren't just plug and play guys. The offense was a little different with Mayfield than it was with Murray or Hurts.

Riley headed out west to lick his wounds and try to regroup after his offense sputtered out and got dominated in his 5th year to anyone with a decent defense. Good riddance and good luck. Riley should at least give Rattler a shot since he was tied to his waist for literally years. They're made for each other.

Speaking of defense, I noticed USC was only 89th in total defense this past year. I fully expect new DC Alex Grinch to have them in the top 80 most years.

The sour grapes over Riley are hilarious. He's going to kill it at USC. Good luck with what's his name as the new OU HC. He won't come close to Riley's accomplishments.
Can't wait to watch their offense take an even further setback next season lol.

MM Lebby’s offense is more productive than Riley’s with far less talent. OU will be fine. No sour grapes here, I’ve been calling for Riley to be held accountable all year. Sure Riley will do well in a weaker conference, his record clearly indicates his offense excels when he can out athlete the other team, the problem comes when a physical team blows his schemes up. His record clearly indicates he was Big 12 good and even that started to slip

You think it will be worse than this year? I thought you considered yourself an educated football coach/fan? Remind me again how many 5 stars Riley reeled in at ECU? Yeah Riley wasn’t bringing in elite talent until he got to OU. Lebby’s O is already more productive than Riley’s with less talent let’s let him have a couple recruiting classes. And that Venables suffocating defense. How many players from OU’s current roster are following Riley? That speaks volumes to me but I’m sure you’re much more tuned in?

I thought you previously stated on this board Riley’s offense didn’t suffer a setback this year? Which one is it? Can’t have it both ways I’m seeing cracks in your narrative lol. Wonder if Lebby getting a commit from the Evers qb has anything to do with your narrative changing lol. The sky is falling right?

You guys lost 3 of your 4 leading receivers from last seasons team in Wease, Stogner, and Haselwood. You're losing 2 of your offensive lineman to graduation as well. They aren't just going to install a new offense and pick up where they left off. There's going to be a little bit of regression. How much is still TBD.

I guess if you call going from 530 yards per game to 505 and 43 points per game to 39 a game a setback. That's their numbers from 2020 to 2021. By definition that's a little drop off but nothing major. But like I also said you guys had a true freshman starting for 2/3rds of the season. Growing pains are to be expected. Overall the offense was still really good for the season. Statistically a top 15 offense.

Wease isn’t gone, he entered the portal. He was hurt all year so if he leaves his production won’t be missed, we have 5 or 6 other receivers with a lot of talent. Haselwood is a good receiver but another Riley recruit who hasn’t lived up to 5 star billing. Stogner had a crap year and hasn’t been the same since his injury and staph infection. How many of those players are following Riley? That speaks absolute volumes. I don’t think Williams transfers out either to follow Riley. Teams lose linemen every year. Bedenbaugh told Riley, thanks but no thanks, he’s staying at OU. Bennie Wylie and his soft ass CrossFit program is gone . Schmidt is back. Expect a much tougher team in October next year. Riley was recruiting players to play for Riley for the 22’ class so some of them went with him. Good for them

I admire your optimism but there's just to many unknowns there to assume this offense is going to pick up where it left off. If it does then I will be the first to come here and admit I was wrong trust me.

Offenses with lesser talent don't do well consistently, lol. There is no magic formula. There is not a coach in the world that can take a sub par group and consistently win with them. It doesn't exist. You have to have talent. You have to have a QB. You have to have OL. You have to have speedsters and/or serious matchup problems.

Riley uses H-backs and TE better than anyone I've seen in a long time. His route combinations are fantastic. The dude can design plays and call an offense with the best of them.

I'm speaking as a Longhorn fan and former coach. I'm not trying to convince you. I'm just saying this from those perspectives.

The same was said about the counter Tre until the physical defenses crashed the party and blew the pulling linemen up and in turn started blowing the plays up. Riley said as much that defenses were catching on to his schemes and the onfield results started to show it. Buh bye Riley. Compare Rileys recruiting rankings to Lebby’s to see what each had to work with. Again, Riley wasn’t pulling in top talent at ECU that didn’t happen until he came to OU. Lebby is here now what do you think the chances are that his recruiting is fixing to head in an upward trajectory? Lol

Make no mistake OU fans are expecting it to be better than it was in 2020.

Btw Wease just announced is staying. Looks like Lebby doing work.

With the developments of the last few weeks Sark may of wrestled control of this state away from OU and A&M

I will say again that I fear OU more with Venables than I did with Ryley....
