Agree too bad a guy that can do that well at USC hit his ceiling in the Big 12OU will start struggling.
Riley is going to fvcking KILL it at USC. He'll go 12-1 or 13-0 3 out of 5 years and have a playoff spot. He will have every studio in Hollywood shelling out NIL checks, every west coast rapper paying for USC players to be in their music videos-- he'll have the high end restaurants and chefs sponsoring these kids-- and once the fashion designers get involved, these kids will be sporting Gucci, Armani, YSL-- and the fashion industry will be able to tap into a market that has long ignored them-- sports fans.
If Riley does it right--- USC will be a MONSTER.
Within 3 years he'll have a room full of 5 star QBs clamoring to play.
Hubris.Which is the way it should be, in my book. You are exactly right about how baker and Kyler started as juniors or seniors. Alabama has also had several quarterbacks start for only one or two years and then go into the NFL. I don’t know how it became a thing for freshman and sophomores to expect to be the starting QB. That used to happen only by chance if a quarterback got injured or went early into the NFL, but hardly ever was an upperclassman beat out. We had our own real life example with Cam Rising transferring to Utah because Sam was going to be the long term starter. Guess what, it is barely this year that he broke into the starting role-same as if he would have stayed (assuming he beats Casey out). There is a lot more to this whole thing, but I don’t want to elaborate more because this is the main point and a QB can learn a lot just by being the back up.
SC typically finishes very strong as they have the SoCal feeder schools in their back pocket. But this is laughable. This may (or may not) provide a little insight as to why USC needed to finalize the deal with Riley after firing Helton and being in limbo since September. This could also explain why Riley had such a strong hand at the bargaining table. I did a double take at this list (Yes, it is a complete list as per their Rivals website): Ranked 99th on Rivals

I'm not convinced it'll be like the old Pete Carroll days on steroids. The current president was brought in in 2019 to stabilize the ship after multiple scandals at the school. The school recently settled multiple sexual abuse cases at the student health center for $1.1 billion. Huge scandals locally resulting in very bad press.This.
It will be the Pete Carrol regime on steroids and now legal. Those teams with Bush and Leinart were rockstars. Remember seeing all the celebs on the sidelines of games?
Check this out… what a messOU fans have gotta be pissed. He is screwing them over.
Five-star QB Malachi Nelson committed to the USC Trojans and new head coach Lincoln Riley on Tuesday afternoon.
Nelson, the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2023, had committed to Oklahoma back in July but decommitted over the weekend following Riley's exit to Los Angeles.
Wow.Check this out… what a mess
Five-star indicates another Oklahoma staff member joining Lincoln Riley, USC
Roy Manning was recruiting for Oklahoma earlier today, but five-star plus+ cornerback Domani Jackson suggests he's playing double-duty.www.on3.com
While all that's true you still have to coach the team up and Riley did just that. Bob Stoops didn't take 2 transfer QBs and mold them into Heisman trophy winning number 1 overall picks. Let's not act like Bob Stoops was still on the sideline there making in game decisions.Let’s also keep in mind that Lincoln Riley was born on 3rd base as Jim Harbaugh would say. Bob stoops went 73-19 with back to back 11 win seasons to end his career, so Riley inherited a program that was ready made. He would of had to screw it up pretty bad not to succeed. That’s not a luxury most coaches get especially for job 1. That’s not what he’s getting at USC will be interesting to see how it plays out
Yep you still have to coach the team but when you have an already made team as a young coach you can make mistakes and no one really notices. When your a rebuilding team and you make mistakes as a HC… everyone notices. While all that's true you still have to coach the team up and Riley did just that. Yeah for Riley to leave in a vindictive way says alot about his character. Dude was an OC at ECU, came to OU as OC for 2 years then promoted to HC making millions, got raises etc. You would think he would go away with common courtesy intact.Wow.
There's no such thing as rebuilding a team in college football when you are talking about true blue blood programs. They just reload yearly. There are 3 starting QBs in the NFL right now that were developed by Lincoln Riley, not Bob Stoops. 2 of those 3 were number 1 overall picks. You don't just take over a program and win at the rate Lincoln Riley did in his 5 years at Oklahoma by being a mediocre football coach.Yep you still have to coach the team but when you have an already made team as a young coach you can make mistakes and no one really notices. He's gonna have a QB room like no other at USC. USC is the #1 draw on the west coast when they're winning. He's going to kill it there man.
I find it odd that USC could do well with how liberal their city is but some how UT can’t. Can someone explain? I would assume they have the same issues we have with classes etc..
USC is a private school. Most folks don't know that.I find it odd that USC could do well with how liberal their city is but some how UT can’t. Can someone explain? I would assume they have the same issues we have with classes etc..
I know people don’t like to think there are rebuilding teams in big time college football, but the reality is there are. I don’t care who the head coach or Texas was this year. It could be the reincarnated DKR we wouldn’t of won more than 7 games. This team needed a talent/attitude/roster makeover, and that would of been true even if we had nabbed Urban Meyer. OU is going to have to rebuild their roster over the next couple years now. There is absolutely rebuilding in college football fans just don’t like to hear itThere's no such thing as rebuilding a team in college football when you are talking about true blue blood programs. To say Lincoln Riley is only a good coach because he inherited Bob Stoops team is just lazy analysis.
USC hasn’t done well in a long time.I find it odd that USC could do well with how liberal their city is but some how UT can’t. Can someone explain? I would assume they have the same issues we have with classes etc..
Im hearing Brent Venables will be the next OU HC. Not sure he’s a clear upgrade over Riley.
Helton was only kept on for the last 2-3 years because he’s viewed as a genuinely nice guy, ran a clean program, and the school has a lot of othe legal priorities to deal with.USC hasn’t done well in a long time.
Yeah. The reason they haven’t done well is a little different though. They were under fairly stiff sanctions for awhile that set the program back. I think Sark probably would of done well there but then he had his issues, and because they really lacked leadership in the athletic department they went “in house” with Clay Helton and that didn’t really work. Now they have a real AD and may of gotten back on track.USC hasn’t done well in a long time.
Hyde Park Hussle! RIP Nipsey. I love rap music (not that weirdo rap shit) and even wore blue on my last business trip so I could visit the marathon clothing store on Crenshaw and Slauson and not disrespec the Rolling 60’s. None of y’all know what I’m referring to lol.Oh man...West Adams, South-Central, Crenshaw, Watts, Hyde Park, Inglewood...all safe, kind places to live.
Correct. That’s on Crenshaw and closer to $700k lolHaha. This is funny but not even close to accurate, lol.
In the east Valley $1.2M or San Marino $1.8M.Correct. That’s on Crenshaw and closer to $700k lol
You wore the right colors in that area. Nipsey was a member.Hyde Park Hussle! RIP Nipsey. That said LA is a shithole. I’d pick almost anywhere in Oklahoma over LA but I’m a middle aged white cat.
OU will start struggling.
He was. Really sharp guy in a lot of ways. That lifestyle is just so risky. A lot of these rap/street guys are really smart. Much respect. RIP NIP. He’s inspired my professional life quite a bit.You wore the right colors in that area. Nipsey was a member.
Correct. That’s on Crenshaw and closer to $700k lol
Around 2005-2007, there was a tall blonde that was always in the center of the formation that was a genuine 10.USC cheerleaders are the sexiest in all college football. Not even close.
Is this sufficient direct evidence?USC cheerleaders are the sexiest in all college football. Not even close.
