OFFICIAL Playoff Argument Thread- Who's in and Why

^^^^this times 100^^^
Dyk that James Franklin is 0/5 against top 5 teams and 4/19 against top 10 teams? Hell Michigan didn't even throw the ball in the second half and they weren't even threatened. I'll be mad if they get to an elite bowl.
You know they will. Go read the list of the playoff committee. It's full of B10 homers.

The whole Big 10 is a dumpster fire. Ohio State's best drive of the day came when they ran the ball up the middle for 8 straight plays. That conference is allergic to the forward pass. I truly believe that SC and Oregon will run roughshod on that conference simply because their offenses are from this century.
If we knew the truth, we would find out that the B10 wants to make cfb like the NFL. Yes, kids from the south would be drafted to play for B10 teams against their will.

Yeah we played a good team in OU and got clipped. Maybe we should move to the ACC and play Duke, Clemson and BC instead

Or maybe we should move to the big 10 where the 3rd best team is Penn state who couldn’t score against a Texas high school all star defense.
Maybe we should stay where we are and win the games we are supposed to win. A two year head coach that had ou’s program in shambles just last year beat our program in its 3rd year with all of the talent in the world.

Well Ohio State does have 2 great receivers one of them will be invited to the Heisman ceremony next month. But their qb is average.

It was their superbowl. It was evident because of the lack of prep for Kansas and Ok St..

Look at the at large teams that will be in elite bowls this year. Missouri will be in one and they deserve it. Tulane will be another because those are the rules. Ohio State will be in as well and the Oregon/ Washington loser is in. Of course the Alabama/Georgia loser makes 5.

But who will the other 3 be? Louisville could have 3 losses and Oklahoma State could have 4 maybe even Oklahoma's a candidate. Are they in?

If so that leaves 1 and I'm going to be pissed if Penn State gets in. I will pray to the football gods that they have to play the Alabama/Georgia loser.

Any opinions?

Given the shift to a 12 team playoff, I'm honestly not sure why OU and UT changed conferences. The Big12 would easily be the #3 conference (may still be) and your path to the playoff would be significantly easier. I get the money difference, but with OU and Texas, the Big 12 would have been a $50M/team league (they got 33M/team without OU and UT). Is it worth $10M/year for the risk to become like A&M, who frankly, is nothing more than a wealthy also-ran in the SEC? As Texas fans, wouldn't you rather play TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech over Kentucky, Mississippi State and South Carolina?

Everyone says that they have 2 great receivers. Where were they? Its not like Harrison was seeing bracket coverage all day, and yet he barely got a grass stain on his jersey. He had the nice catch when he was interfered with, but otherwise, he never threatened Michigan's safeties or made them adjust their coverage for him. So either he's a stud and Ohio State is so poorly coached that they chose NOT to use him. Or he's average and just looks great when compared to the rest of the receivers in a conference that is allergic to the forward pass.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Is a stud. There’s a bigger sample size than just looking at yesterday’s game. Saying he’s average is laughable. Go watch that Georgia game last year where he tore that defense up that was stacked with NFL talent at all 3 levels of the defense.

The B12 is going to be a continued slow bleed. The next contract is going to be bad.

There is 0% chance Texas ever ends up like A&M. The aggies have always been underachievers, with nothing to show for the money they spend. They’ve haven’t sniffed greatness since the Germans invaded Poland. There is no comparison, has never been a comparison, and I’d kindly thank you to not try to make one.

There’s no one in SEC who scares me. I’ve felt for years that they’re an overinflated conference, and am confident that Texas will prove it.

No

I expect us to get in. We need a convincing win over the Fighting Mullets though. Ohio state not playing will do nothing but hurt them. Georgia will beat Bama, Oregon will beat UW, and Michigan will throttle Iowa. That leaves the 4 spot. FSU is hot garbage on offense without Travis, Louisville should beat them and we’ll get the 4 spot.

Ever end up like the aggies? Not likely but during the Strong and Herman eras we sure did try.

It was play calling. Don't kid yourself- Marvin Jr is the best receiver college football has seen in about 5-6 years.

Horns are in pretty good shape. Hard to image your team losing to OSU. Gundy has a great running back, excellent receivers, most of the offense decent. D is terrible. Ewers and Worthy should run wild. So only issue is Fla. state. Sems did not look good yesterday. If they lose UT should be next in line after Ga/Ala winner, Oregon/UW winner and Michigan.

I still think it will be an interesting development if Al wins the SEC. Assuming we win, hmmm. SEC has been in the CFP every year, several times two teams. Maybe it will be their year to miss out?? Committee has held firm to 7 & 8 slots in the poll. Do they suddenly flip if both teams win again? Very interesting indeed.

I want complete chaos to happen.

Florida state lose
Georgia lose
Michigan lose

Make the committee actually make decisions

So why is tPSU rated above us? They have exactly 2 wins over ranked teams.

ND and Penn State..
No quality win

I'll tell you what oldhorn2: our horns need to tcb on Saturday. Win that game and we have a Big XII title and at least an elite bowl appearance. Win that bowl and I honestly think we'll be ready for the SEC.

Idk if any teams ranked above is will lose on Saturday. It really doesn't matter who loses the Oregon/Washington game if Florida State wins.

Just win baby

Sorry, I don't agree with this. These opportunities don't come around for Texas very often. Make the most of every opportunity.

True that. I do want us to make the playoffs. We've been down for so long. But when was the last time there were 4 undefeated teams this late in the season? I feel like it's out of our hands.

We need FSU to lose and Oregon to lose. It's not impossible, in fact I can easily see that happening.

Not that it’s likely to happen, but if Michigan were to lay an egg against Iowa that would put us in as well most likely.

Has anyone see Louisville play cause I haven't. They already had a spot in the title game so we're they looking ahead to the Seminoles. So what do you guys think?

I watched them score in the last minute to beat a 3 win Virginia at home. Smoke and mirrors.

Yeah they’d have no shot against a Jordon Travis led FSU team, but without Travis they have a shot.

FSU is a lot like TCU was last year. A lot of close calls against mediocre teams even with Travis. Without him they can be had.

Well according to diadevic Louisville isn't very good. However, once that backup qb calmed down the Seminoles won going away. But Florida State is only 5.5 favorite. I'd like to know what does Vegas know that I don't.

They know that Florida state struggled with BC, Duke, Miami and Clemson
