**OFFICIAL Texas vs T Boone Garth Mullet football thread**

I don’t understand how the offense can be so night and day from first half to second half. Looks like two different teams. Why do we not throw out to the flats and spread them out like we do in the first half.

It's unfortunate because his scheme actually is very effective against spread type offenses BUT, he doesn't have the type players needed to run it. I think the problem is not adjusting the scheme to fit the players he has available.

The problem is he is too conservative and basic. When D is creating Havoc he just stops and drops back into 7/8 man zone. It doesn’t make any ****ing sense.

I just hate how conservative he plays at times. At some point you have to dial up pressure and try to make the QB uncomfortable.

They made adjustments and we didn’t.

Next four games:

At KSU
Home for TCU
At Kansas
Home for Baylor

Even after this debauchery of a game, I think we take 3 of the 4 remaining games. Obviously we could just as easily repeat last year's wonderful finish too.

So far this season has played out exactly as I thought it would preseason except for RRSO blowout. I thought we'd win in a close slugfest but gooners never swung back.

8-4

Me and you are on the same exact page. That’s how I think it plays out as well. 8-4 would be a good season in my opinion. We are playing 9 underclassmen on offense. There’s going to be growing pains.

Oh I agree but I also don't think we have the ability to dial up pressure and disallow wide open bombs. We just aren't good across the board yet. Catch 22.

This was Ewers worst game. We knew we would get a couple games like this from him. He definitely showed his youth and inexperience. This was just his 5th college game. Overthrows, locking in on just one receiver, running a play at the end of the 3rd when it wasn’t necessary, etc, etc. He’s going to learn and be much better but he looked like a 19 year old freshman today.

Every loss is painful but it's even more painful when we get glimpses of what this team can be then turn around and shits the bed 7 days later.

We were supposed to lose this game until Vegas noticed Texas fans were excitedly betting again. I see the progress and potential but the growing pains are there as well.

Today we shit the bed and hopefully will light a fire under some guys next week. Fingers crossed, we'll see.

Credit the Gundies. They sniffed out Quinn having a bad day and focused on stopping the run from the 2nd qtr on. They decided to make Texas beat them through the air and that was the correct decision. Maybe it was osu’s defensive schemes that confused Quinn.

Quinn missed at least 3 receivers who were open and may have scored or at the least would have made an explosive play. He hits at least 2 or 3 of those and it changes the game.

We’ve lost so much I don’t even care about todays loss. I like Sark and the direction we’re headed so far. We have a lot of talent and more
coming in. Stay the course and keep playing hard. I do question how any team goes without penalty for an entire game.

Well said. Pretty much where I'm at. I agree. How the hell does one team have 14 penalties for 118 yards and the other team has nothing?!

Someone asked Sark on Thursday if he had changed anything about road prep since they haven't been good on the road, and he said no because routines and consistency are important.

He needs to re-evaluate.

Did you see on one of the last drives that he threw to Bijan in double coverage down the sideline, well JT Sanders was breaking away open down the middle

Whittington was wide open on that play as well.

I just realized this was Ewers’ very first road start in his college career.

19 of 49 with 3 interceptions is truly awful

Against the worst pass defense in the Big 12 while he's at it. That was pathetic and I hope he knows that. He’s got two weeks to learn and bounce back. I believe he comes back in a big way against TCU.

Yeah the play calls were suspect. Running game is lights out so let’s throw the ball 49 times.
They kept getting off schedule and faced a lot of 2nd and 3rd and longs. Hard to consistently run the ball like that. Then penalties on top of that.

For all the problems Ewers had today, looks like the Horns finally have a QB that can win the big game. Just not as experienced as Sanders, Duggan and Martinez. Still don't know why UT lost Riesing, who is a real stud for Utah.. Ewers ended OU"s season for sure. Was hoping TCU might the one conference team to have a shot at the final 4. Looks like KState setting up a roadblock. Maybe next year. Duece Vaugh should in the final 4 or 5 for the Heisman. What a stud player.

I am just so sick and tired of watching the OSUs, the TCUs, the Techs etc. completing these little pissant slant routes over and over and over……. every single game. WHEN are DBs going to learn how to man up and and actually COVER someone?? When are DBs going to learn how to time a hit and knock someone’s head off again?? It’s like DCs are so worried about giving up the big play, that they’ve all resigned themselves to dying by a thousand cuts. It’s all tiddlywinks-ass football and it needs to be stopped.

One thing I haven't seen throughout this thread was some of you calling for Card. Was he injured?

I hate to be that guy but some of those misses were 100% on the receivers and not Quinn. That corner route Worthy missed in the end zone was all on him. If he catches that ball we go up 41-34 and it’s a different game. That last drive he threw a dot to JT Sanders and it went right through his hand to the defenders hand. If he catches that he probably scores and we go to OT.

I don’t see that game going any different with Hudson Card in the game.
