Who are you talking about? I assume you aren't talking about Urban or Saban, as you seem smarter than that. Just wondering who you the guys to hire would be. Peterson maybe, Fedora maybe, Freeze maybe, Briles maybe? Briles is toxic. Freeze makes Briles look honorable. Love Peterson, but doubt he would come. I probably like Fedora better than he really is.
Good Point Madcow and it's the same sentiment I feel regarding our coaching staff. It's not that they lost to Houston and Ohio State, It's how they lost that is inexcusable for a coach getting paid $5 mil plus to win, or at least look damn competitive when he loses!
Gotta be Dabo and Saban. Personally I'm rooting for Charlie to reach that 7 win plateau and become fully entrenched rather than see you guys have to go thru the hassle of regime change and bring in a Dabo or Saban.
You must have missed the OU bowl games against USC, WVU, Boise State and I'm sure I'm missing another Venables classic DC Bowl game disaster. I'm not saying Mike Stoops is the answer but I will say that Venables has great talent to work with right now and is doing a good job but you cannot realistictly discount all of the eggs he laid at OU. You would be hard pressed to find Sooner fans wanting any part of him at the end of his tenure.
Doesn't this actually tie back in somewhat to Herbstriet's comments? I am not talking about the "cesspool" part of the comments, but rather about the general point he was trying to make regarding firing Strong and hiring another HC at Texas at this point in time.
So what? OU had a pretty highly ranked defense last year,.......until the bowl game. Then what you are saying is during Big 12 play Venables had a good defense but his defense sure showed its ass in a huge way on the biggest stages.
First, nobody that I know of being targeted. I've offered who I personally would target. The problem with bringing names to a table right now is two fold: 1. We have a coach. Pointless to talk about WHO we should think about targeting when you have a contracted coach. 2. It was chat rooms and media personnel that took Saban's name and ran with it. Guys like chip brown and Ketch got word that saban "might" be being targeted and the sh!t show began. The buzz created the mess and headlines that ultimately led to saban throwing up his hands and not coming. Why in the world would we even want to start that sort of sh!t show again? If you don't think insiders like brown and ketch DON'T read the posts on this board, you're crazy. MM knows this and knows that on occasion they will even reach out to members of this site if they think they have info. It's called journalism.
