Red River Shootout week is here

Sooners are gonna eliminate any kind of Bijan heisman talk this saturday. Get them thoughts outta yer melons.

Well, our guys can't cover anyone beyond 10yds so it's a wash. 😆

I think the betting line is about right. Rattler is great at hitting the deep open route but your receiving corps isn't as elite just yet as it usually is. We allow shots over our head all day long....not good for us.

Texas's key to the game will be playing clock from the opening kickoff and limiting sooner explosive vertical passing. If the game is within 2 scores in the 3rd qtr I like our odds because that rb room pays dividends on a tired dline.

Oklahoma's key should be to get up big early to make Texas pass in the 2nd half. Thompson has the arm but not accuracy. Anyone not named Whittington or Worthy can be manned up and nullified thus far.

Texas wins a lower scoring game 31-27
or
Ou wins a shootout 51-44
I’m looking for Whittington to pull in the intermediate/long balls and not let any bounce off his finger tips. I like our chances even more if we can extend the field.

No luck involved this year. Something about OU is off. I've got the distinct feeling our boys are going to play mad and mean. Just a feeling.
I know that feelin. Just don't buy into the hype that OU's off. 34-17. We wear the hat again this saturday.

Probably the most evenly matched RRR since 2012, when both teams were ranked in the top 15. Since your run game is a little better, I think we'll have to win the turnover battle. Need to get your rook QB to throw a couple to our side.

This is the RRR. Anything can happen. The only thing I'm sure about is that I will be screaming at the TV like a madman.

I smoked and shared a shot with my little statuette jobu. 😁
I narrowed my vision quest from 4 days of dehydration to 4 hours today. The spirits told me that smoking the tobacco wasn't necessary due to the clarity of the vision. They concluded sooner tears and a glorious Texas victory.

Been thinking about what I'd do if I were the OU DC against our offense.

Spy. I have a designated safety spy on Bijan the entire game. Bijan goes out to the flat, safety cuts him off. Bijan runs, safety comes up for run support. Make him a hybrid LB/safety and let him roam wherever he wants, one on one with Bijan.

Neutralize Bijan and the offense is dead in the water.

Would Sarks response to that be putting RJ or KR in at the same time so that there are two run options? I noticed one time in the Rice game (I think it was that game) they had multiple running backs in at the receiver position. Just curious on your thoughts on how this team could combat that since you've been in college game plan meetings

The spy we put on Jameile Holloway many moons ago worked on a play here and there, but wasn’t effective. Casey may not be elite, but may be better than what you are giving him credit.

If I'm OU's DC I'm loading the box with 7-8 guys and playing our recievers 1 on 1 the whole game. I'm also bringing some exotic blitzes up front and confusing the shit out of our offensive line which doesn't take much. I don't think our receivers can consistently beat man coverage. TCU was running man across the board and playing a robber in the middle of the field and pretty much eliminated our passing game last Saturday. I don't think Casey can win this game with his arm.

And because we know and they know Casey can't win with his arm, I take Bijan out of the equation. Let's be real- Casey isn't throwing for 350 and 5 tds--- which is what it would take to win this. So our biggest threat is Bijan. This is why if I'm OU, I spy him. No, you're not going to completely stop the kid--- he's too talented. But you can harass him just enough frustrate him, make Casey nervous about throwing to him because the spy is going to come screaming out of no where......cut Bijan's performance by 30-35% and your odds of winning increase dramatically.

Yep, this is why I said our Oline will make or break this game. They will key on Bijan and have a good rush defense as it is. Casey has to be able to make them pay through the air to back them off. Casey can do that if he has time, and if our receivers catch the ball.

No our offense is better than that and this will be the best defense that OK has seen so far.

Our running game is good but when we face a good defense that can take that away and make us one dimensional we are going to struggle.

I hope ou does what you say. Grinch ‘s juevos will shrink and shrivel before the half is even over.

Could be. And RJ is averaging a pretty decent clip per carry. Can he handle 20 touches? Maybe. But that's a bit of a pounding. RJ doesn't have Bijan's speed in the open field, so it would be more of a trudge.

But Casey Thompson wasn't the qb in the AR game.
It's easier to come in a game down 3 scores and there's no pressure to win the game than it is to start the game on the road at the beginning of the game. It showed last week when Casey struggled really all game against TCU. If he comes out and throws for 350 and 5 tds then I will be the first to come here and say I was wrong. But I just don't think he is polished enough to put this team on his back if the running game is stalled out and win the game with his arm.

If they assign a spy on Bijan it is imperative that we make them pay with some deep throws early to open up their defense. If Casey can somehow complete a couple of long ones over the top of the defense with Worthy or Josh Moore that will dramatically change the way they play us. Casey will also need to make some plays running the ball. That too will open things up. We have to make them cover the whole field instead of them just loading the box to stop our run game.

Exactly. Also, let's not count out Sark's abilities to strategize ahead of the game and adjust during the game. Sark is another strength we have in addition to Bijan.

Dude please he will have to do nowhere near that to prove that he can lead this team to bigger and better things. And in the second half we converted at last 4 consecutive three and outs.

Look whether we want to admit or not were a little bit gun shy over the way we've played the last 10 years especially against OK but unlike Strong and Herman this man will have us prepared.

But Nebraska, West Virginia and KState defenses are all ranked higher then yours? Does not compute?
Those stats don't mean s*it. Those teams will be lucky to win 7 games.

But Jordan Whittington does.
