So how far down the list do the Aggies have to go to get a coach ?

Just goes back to my earlier point that they are mercenaries. Fisher wasn't wasting any time looking at ESPNs best jobs in the country list or comparing which city offers the best social life. Aggy flashed a bunch of money in front of him and he basically shut it down up to the point of formally quitting.

It seems him and FSU had a falling out, he jumped on the first program to offer him more money and had facilities. FSU doesn't think he's worth all that.

High possibility that FSU and Aggy do a coaching swap. If that happens Sumlin essentially will go to FSU and get paid 10 mill by aggy to do so lol.

Maybe so, I just don't see how either winning or losing the bowl game will be a program changer in either direction.

This program isn't to be made or broke by this bowl game if that's what you are looking for, but if you don't see how being embarrassed by some random 7-8 win team hurts vs. us actually winning could help I don't know what to tell you.

What do you consider a high probability? I'd say Sumlin to FSU is the opposite of a high probability. Maybe some news broke I missed.
Maybe Sumlin goes to Tennessee, those guys just need someone, anyone to say ok I'll take your millions.

FSU AD would be fired if he lost Fisher and then replaced him with Sumlin. Maybe he has a Fisher esque buyout if fired and that's his angle.

Fisher is a good coach. He's not a great coach. He lost his QB this year and promptly lost 6 games. This was a team ranked #3 early in the season mind you. A great coach can overcome adversity better than that.

What has he done as a HC besides having Famous Jameis? I see a bunch of 3-6 loss seasons sprinkled in there. I equate him to the used driver in my golf bag I bought for cheap at Golfsmith. Somebody didn't want it. Notice FSU let him walk without a fight (ala Urban Meyer and Tim Beck).

They lost a bunch of OL as well, but yeah your point still stands this season does not compute. It could be an anomaly or a sign of things to come. This certainly isn't the coaching coup of century.

It's par for aggy though. Pay through the nose ($70-$80M) for a "splash name hire" who isn't exactly elite.

I’ll suggest another theory. It’s clear that Jimbo and the admin haven’t been on the same page for sometime. It’s been reported that He’s basically been absent in recruiting for the last month is it possible this year is a result of him mailing it in especally after his QB went down, and not so much his coaching ability or lack there of.

To be honest.....it doesn't really matter who aTm hires as their next coach. All he has to do is come in and win 8 or 9 games for 10 yrs and he will have a statue by that collie dog. Aggy has a great tradition of being irrelevant and mediocre throughout their history. They are satisfied with mediocrity and that's what they are.....a middle of the pack football team......the same as they were in the BIG XII.

Mailing it in would still say something about his coaching ability imo. Do we really think had only Jimbo tried they could have won 9 games this year?

Maybe not 9 but 7 maybe 8. We know how it is when a program lets things slip it can go down hill pretty quick

Does anyone know if there any top notch NFL coaches that might be interested in the FSU job?

Or

Is there anyone on the staff good enough that FSU may hire from within? I can't believe that there aren't any top notch hc's that are interested in the job at FSU.

Yeah, there’s no way he should have lost to BC, and by 32 points. No way he should have lost to a bad Louisville team at home. I don’t think he was trying

I’d think FSU could have virtually anyone they want within reason of course. Unless Scott Frost really just wants to go to Nebraska FSU is a better job.

A report I just saw said they’d like to hire a minority coach if that is the case the candidates that jump out right away are Sumlin, Taggert, Strong, Dino Babers. I’m sure there are others, but those are the most obvious.

Chuck Pagano sounds like a man of real character. Can he recruit or at least hire coaches who can?
Pagano was a college coach as a GA or an assistant from 1984-2000 including a stint at the U. He could probably handle himself recruiting I’d think. Certainly more recruiting expierence than Herm Edwards or John Gruden.

May want to check the record of the recently fired coach then revisit the point of 8 wins a year getting a statute.

That and I am not sure if people realize that the coaches don't have to live on campus. 50 million dollars can buy you a nice piece of land to put your mansion on to forget that you are living in aggyland or LA or whatever place apparently is a dump for various subjective reasons.
Some people like a life outside of home. And living among celebrities makes you less of a thing when you try to go to the Whole Foods or Gelsons or whatever. Could you or I make ourselves comfortable, even in backwards thinking Aggieland, with that kind of money? Sure. But some people cannot. Teams in LA are always going to have a pull for folks like that.

Just read what A&M Chancellor John Sharp had to say. Huge laugh:
"We've got the best facilities in the SEC, we've got the best stadium ... and we intend to have the best coach before this is over," he said.
Unless he's planning to wait for Saban to retire...

"May want to check the record of the recently fired coach then revisit the point of 8 wins a year getting a statute"

May want to get a coach who doesn't have to have an easy out of conference schedule to help a barley over .500 record in the SEC to over inflate win/losses.

Another good question is......Does aggy put a national championship on their stadium wall for 2013 if Fisher goes to collieville?

Please troll better. No one is as arrogant or stupid as you are pretending to be. This is a fun board, but play it straight. I'm an Aggie, but don't think it is cool to troll these guys. Most of them are ok.

Bro stop thinking I'm trolling. Your aggy schtick is tiresome!

This honestly may be one of the dumbest things I have ever read someone type. We are getting ready to pony up and pay a top 5 coach (that’s not opinion, it’s simply a fact) yet we are “satisfied with mediocrity”. Wow. Just dumb. Maybe we get the hire wrong. That is for sure possible (though I doubt it and so do you if you are being honest) but this statement is ignorant

No, cml is spot on with what he wrote. aggy is the definition of mediocrity. Always has been. Always will be.
