Sorry but ALOT of people think Aggieland is a special place; not just Aggies. I wouldn't expect you to think so, but it is true.
poor aggy..

Oh, I don't know. Florida has been a dog that won't stay down, Miss St just made a great hire, Ole Miss is Ole Miss, Auburn is above Aggy, Arkansas can be a thorn, LSU will always be more premire, eventually Aggy will find a way to beat them and Bama is Bama as long as Saban is there. Saban just owned Jimbo in the opener by the way. The ACC is not a football conference other than a few contenders.
How many times has Sumlin even played Florida? Is your argument that going .500 in the SEC and I believe against the SEC west his record is well south of .500 is the equivalent to winning championships in the ACC?
I can agree if you are claiming he won't have the success aggy is hoping for, but I disagree if you think he is the same level of coach as Sumlin.

Right on. Have you ever visited Clemson? Has to be bottom 10% of college campuses. But Dabo seems to have made a nice life for himself on his $7 million per year. If bottom line was location, location, location he would be the UCLA coach right now. These arguments are stupid. Coaches are mercenaries. Some may have sentimental ties to certain areas or schools but the vast majority are chasing $$ and egos. Yeah maybe if all things are equal it location may mean something, but all things are rarely equal. With a 5mm+ annual salary does anyone think it's difficult to have quality of life anywhere in this country.

Nice job! U pull that outta ur ass?

He talked about this on the radio yesterday and is correct. HOWEVER -- why would an Aggie care? Seems like the focus would be on reeling in Jimbo and not obsessing over the views of Longhorns.
Proof is in the pudding sweetheart. It's not like he's bringing the skins with him... He's a quality get he is simply very similar to Sumlin and will likely produce in the same manner.
Location? Just me, buy why in the world would anyone want to live in LA? No thanks. The Carolinas > LA. No contest.
Texas has no income tax. I'm still waiting for a top tier free agent to join the Mavs.Whichever one is offering me millions more is where I am living, and pretty much where 95% of coaches are to. This location angle is the equivalent of the academics in recruiting. 95% of the guys out there it doesn't make a difference, but we continue to argue over how much better it is to live in one area over the other like that is part of their decision.

There's not a better coach available. But, it's a money whip just like Chief was a money whip.
Here is the simplicity of it all.
Four Coaches
Four National Titles
Common Ground, elite QB....
Mack Brown - VY no.3 overall pick
Gene Chizik - Cam Newton no.1 overall pick
Les Miles - Jamarcus Russell no.1 overall pick
Jimbo Fisher - Jameis Winston no.1 overall pick
Now, even these four can be separated...Mack and Les played for multiple titles (with several recruiting classes of separation). Gene and Jimbo, next tier down.
Doh, correct, it was Flynn. Further separating them. All of those guys save Chizik (who sucked pre and post Newton) were incredible hires for their teams. If Aggy gets a Mack Brown, Les Miles, or similar FSU run out of fisher it's absolutely worth it. Miles best years at LSU were not with Russell btw. They won the championship the year after Russell.
No but you can start separating them. The next group would be guys like Dabo then getting further into and not going later than the modern era of the late 90's Tom Osborn, Pete Carroll, Urban Meyer..... These are elite coaches. Nick Saban belongs on the top of the list of Bear Bryant, Bernie Bierman, Woody Hayes and the Howard Jones of the World. So is the criteria for being a good coach you have to have won multiple championships and have to have to do it with untalented QBs?
Well that's Nick Saban, and if he sets the bar then there aren't any other good coaches out there.
That’s what I’ve heard. My brothers in laws live down there. Big time FSU fans. Feeling down there has been all week that Jimbo is gone.Hell of a get....uphill climb for Texas now.
Florida State 24/7 thinks Jimbo could be gone by tomorrow and will skip the last game.
My original point still stands, records and skins aside...IMHO. They are getting "basically" what they just let go. He simply has a few skins. If he wins them a national title in the next 10 years, I'll actually be impressed.Well then yeah I agree. Jimbo isn't as good as Saban or Meyer or the other hall of fame coaches you are mentioning. But those guys can't be the bar for a good hire. Fisher has also had good seasons without Winston. Not national championships, but being the absolute best isn't the base line of being good.
Sour grapesMy original point still stands, records and skins aside...IMHO. They are getting "basically" what they just let go. He simply has a few skins. If he wins them a national title in the next 10 years, I'll actually be impressed.
The only fools will be those that doubt him I suppose, not those that money whipped him into a fresh start for 70 million and the flock he will tend to should they do more of the same.
Not at all. He's a good coach and by far the best they could do. I'm not sold that he can do what they've money whipped him to do. He had all the leverage and aggy is desperate to matter in CFB.Sour grapes
