Texas Recruiting

well apparently the ags had the winning bid because its sure as hell not their coach or their success rate that these kids are basing their decisions on. Jumbo is a joke
Yeah I have absolutely no idea how A&M recruits as well as they do.

Come on man. Who wouldn’t want to live in a small cow town in the middle of nowhere!!! It’s basically like Miami!!
Jumbo’s recruiting pitch goes something like this:

Jumbo to recruit: “come play with us we’re doing great things, hell didn’t you see us beat Bama this year?”

recruit to Jimbo: “ yeah coach, good win but you lost half of your conference games, you’re no closer to a championship than you were last year at A&M”

jumbo to recruit: “ well yeah you’re right, here just take another bag of money then, and here’s a bag of money for your parents and a pastoral job for your dad.”

Recruit to Jumbo: “damn I agree coach, you are doing GREAT things at A&M, where do I sign?”

Jimbo’s offense isn’t WR friendly. I think Kelvin Benjamin is the last WR drafted highly out of his offensive system.

$$$$$ there is no other answer. Someone saying they have a couple of the top Texas DL locked up for 23’ already. Again what would Jimbo be selling? His win against Bama?
It's not just money because if that was the case all the Texas billionaires would have bought out more players. A&M isn't what they used to be as far as facilities, prestige and national brand. Hell, look at the dominance in the state but also out of the state. They signed top players in 8 states. Jimbo is a good coach.( I still think he needs an offensive coordinator) but you don't win a natty without being a good coach. He hires excellent people to be around him also. 9-1 last year and the season would have looked much different if you don't lose your QB1, multiple receivers who were out for most of the year, several corners were out and offensive linemen that had to keep being shuffled around due to injuries. Yes, David Hicks and Anthony Hill look to be strong A&M leans at the moment, but kids these days change on a dime. OU and Texas will get theirs as well once they make the move over. The SEC sells whether you like it or not. Kids aren't intrigued to go play road games at Iowa St, Kansas, West Virginia, Kansas St, Tech, Baylor or TCU. OU vs Texas is the only game on that schedule that means a thing prestige wise.

I'm glad OU NEVER...EVER would offer money to a player. Switzer was the cleanest guy I knew. I guess OU could say come on up to OU and play against all these 3 stars and better yourself. Then once we make the playoffs because we played cupcakes, you get some nice gear at the bowl game and get a shirt that says we got our asses kicked by real playoff teams.
Jimbo can sell come play against the best. Prepare yourself in a league that puts out more draft picks than any other conference by far. Come be a part of the best recruiting class EVER put together. It might have looked more like that.

By the way...If I'm Texas I'm happy as hell at the recruiting class you just signed. As much as the season was a disaster and so much negative pub, Sark did a good job of putting together a great class. I don't see Bell over here saying Texas is paying players. Hell they came right out with it. The bottom line is that there is no way to monitor this crap.

a&m has a history of cheating. In fact, the only time that they had success in winning conference championships is when they cheated under Jackie Sherrill and RC Slocum and got put on probation back in those days, and damn near got the Death Penalty. They cheated when Manziel was there, but never got caught. SEC teams don't turn each other in. That's the SEC way.

Jimbo is a good coach. Not a great coach. He's a good recruiter and a good salesman. a&m fans should know better by now. How many times have ya'll seen this story? Every year when a&m goes 8-4, aggy fans proclaim that "next year is our year". Rinse and repeat. Hell, after each loss this season, aggy fans were ready to run Fisher out of collie station, yet now he's great because he somehow has pulled off the #1 recruiting class in the nation, lol?

Keep those excuses coming. So you're saying that if King, who is a marginal D1 QB at best, wouldn't have gotten hurt that a&m would have been a factor in the SEC this year? You serious, man? a&m's worst nightmare came to reality when Texas was invited and joined the SEC. You guys ran off from the Big 12, a conference that you were a whole two games above .500 in, to get out of Texas' shadow. Now you have to deal with your daddy again. Don't kid yourself. Texas won't be down long term. Once again, a&m will be back in Texas' shadow, as they should be!

Hook'em!

Here’s the deal, if OU has payed money at least they can hide it and look legit because we’ve actually won something. A$M has literally won nothing but halftime? You went 9-1 and then slide backwards to 4-4 in conference this year. So are you telling me you’re beating out Alabama for recruits because Jimbo is selling recruits on coming and playing for A&M? Seriously? Yeah, NOPE. That is not what’s going on here and you damn well know it. If you’re beating Bama for recruits there’s shady shit going down simply due to the accomplishments of each football program.

it’s awfully amusing you stated Jimbo’s pitch is “come play against the best” at least he’s not including A$M in that category lol so he’s at least he’s being honest. OU and Texas have already announced they are headed to the SEC so you acting like once we get over there ‘we’ll get ours’ yeah I think OU has done pretty decent recruiting without the SEC crutch but unlike A&M we don’t celebrate our conference foes victories as our own.

You don’t win a natty without being a good coach? Lol uh huh. Orgeron. Malzahn. Coker. Miles. All won nattys, and none are still coaching or considered good coaches.

The whole Jimbo won a natty argument therefore he’s a really good coach is dumb.

When is Aggie going to show results from their recruiting victories in the form of a conference championship at the very least? Best recruiting class of all time? Lol

Jimbo won a NC with crab legs and then his team absolutely cratered when he left but in walked A&M to save him from the heap pile of discarded overrated coaches and overpaid him again this year. LSU offered Jimbo right Aggies? Lol

here’s how Aggie validates Jimbo’s record and outrageous salary.
1.) the Bama win in 2021- automatically keeps Jimbo in Aggie good graces for a minimum of 5 years.
2.) No 1 recruiting class in 2021: give Jimbo another extension before someone tries to steal him from us. Meanwhile no other team is interested in Jimbo so he has his agent float rumors just to torment Aggie.

I just think we have more to sell than you think. The atmosphere at Kyle field was unreal this year on a lot of these games and and these recruits were there. Our facilities are also second to none. I agree that our results were dissppointing this year, and our recruiting will suffer if it doesn't get better, but to not see why an athlete would choose us right now is a little delusional.

How anyone can see an aggy yell practice and still want to go there is the true 8th wonder of the world. The word “retard” should be strictly reserved for those f***ing assclowns. Is aggy hiding that tardfest from recruits somehow?

Even more proof they are doing shady shit to attract recruits

Ok look, don’t use that word. Nothing on earth in the history of life itself has ever been more delusional for its entire history than aggy. You do not qualify to use that word describing anything else. You’re still a bunch of super weird retard cultists in a shithole town, and you always will be, and you’ll never win anything.

Don't kid yourself, it's obvious what these out of state guys are coming to A$M for. You don't even have a defensive coordinator. They don't even know if they will play in a 3 - 4 or 4-3 scheme. That doesn't strike you as odd? Guys who never liked A&M all of a sudden wanting to go there even though they don't knwo what kind of defense they will be playing in?

Here is what happened. When Texas and OU announced that we are coming to the SEC, A&M panicked because they think their window of having a recruiting advantage was closing. Your boosters got pissed and they all set aside their differences to fight a common enemy (Texas). This aligned your boosters and motivated them to put up money that normally would not have been on the table. With the influx of money, Jimbo was able to convince players who had no connection or prior interest in A&M to come take a visit, and then bags were dropped.

Atmosphere is good for sure...unless you're Calzada

But are we really going to pretend that the #1 from Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Arizona are coming to flat earth College Station without some extrin$ic incentive?

I'm enjoying the banter. Two points I picked up though:

First, we really live in a "live for today" world anymore. Maybe teams should push the NIL envelope where they they can until measurable constraints are in place.

Second, certainly College Station is nothing to crow about, but Damn, it's nothing like armpit Austin. Probably the younger crowd would still prefer the leftcoast lifestyle Austin offers, but not me so much anymore.

The only reason A&M has recruited well is because they are already in the SEC. Plain and simple. Texas isn’t in the SEC yet but the fact that we are planning to go there has already helped us secure a top 5 class. Once we get there in 1-2 years we’ll be getting all the top kids in Texas. Saban will be gone in a couple years too. That timing is perfect for Texas as Bama will take a step back once Saban is gone.

Schools that are taking the opportunity to pay kids without setting their own boundary's are going to be in for a rude awakening. It will work in the short term, but it is not a long term success plan.
Yeah parameters are coming I would think. I still don’t know what to think of the Jackson State kid. From a money standpoint I get it. He’s a defense guy so does his weaken his draft stock? Does he stay a year and then try to parlay it all again? Will he be viewed as a money/attention whore by future teams? Does it even make a shit because college ball is ruined now?

No argument that a&m has top notch facilities, but how do you sell the bizarreness of the a&m "culture". I know that y'all think that it's unique and have all of these so called "traditions", but people outside of the a&m clan see this and shake their heads and say WTF?

Thing is, Deion isn't going to be at Jackson State long term. Whenever FSU can afford to fire Norvell, I wonder if they will hire Sanders? That's his dream job. Does the Hunter kid then hit the portal and follow Deion to FSU?

Lots of people think Austin is a shit hole town. It is also not a college town.

Yes all recruits want to play for an 8-5 team in small cow college town in the middle of nowhere!! I mean it sounds amazing.
