Texas Recruiting

I'm enjoying the banter. Two points I picked up though:

First, we really live in a "live for today" world anymore. Maybe teams should push the NIL envelope where they they can until measurable constraints are in place.

Second, certainly College Station is nothing to crow about, but Damn, it's nothing like armpit Austin. Probably the younger crowd would still prefer the leftcoast lifestyle Austin offers, but not me so much anymore.
Isn’t that the whole argument. Most college kids would rather party on 6th the live music capital of the world, over north gate lol.

Yeah parameters are coming I would think. I still don’t know what to think of the Jackson State kid. From a money standpoint I get it. He’s a defense guy so does his weaken his draft stock? Does he stay a year and then try to parlay it all again? Will he be viewed as a money/attention whore by future teams? Does it even make a shit because college ball is ruined now?
The kid that committed to Jackson State didn't get an NIL deal. Deion came out and said that yesterday.

No, what they would rather have is a town that revolves around the university and not the other way around.

Uh huh. So a 17-18 yo black recruit would rather live in a hick cow town with nothing to do like college station instead of living Austin?? Take your Aggie blinders off man.

I know Austin may not be for everybody, especially if you’re a white conservative male, but your typical black recruit from the inner city will most likely prefer a fun, hip city like Austin vs College station. I’ve lived in college station before, it sucks lol.

Doesn't blowu have the same environment?
Absolutely I would think. So would Bama, Auburn, Baton Rouge, Stillwater, Fayetteville, so on and so forth. Your comparison was to Austin, not places like this. You guys just constantly act like Bryan-College Station is not a good place and that is just not true in the eyes of many people.

Well I guess having a barber shop in the stadium helps so then players dont have to leave campus. I have played in a big softball tourney in CS and I would never go back and wonder why in the heck would anyone want to live in that cultish place. Been to Norman as well and think the same thing, but nowhere close to being a cult place as CS.

Here’s the deal, if OU has payed money at least they can hide it and look legit because we’ve actually won something. A$M has literally won nothing but halftime? You went 9-1 and then slide backwards to 4-4 in conference this year. So are you telling me you’re beating out Alabama for recruits because Jimbo is selling recruits on coming and playing for A&M? Seriously? Yeah, NOPE. That is not what’s going on here and you damn well know it. If you’re beating Bama for recruits there’s shady shit going down simply due to the accomplishments of each football program.

it’s awfully amusing you stated Jimbo’s pitch is “come play against the best” at least he’s not including A$M in that category lol so he’s at least he’s being honest. OU and Texas have already announced they are headed to the SEC so you acting like once we get over there ‘we’ll get ours’ yeah I think OU has done pretty decent recruiting without the SEC crutch but unlike A&M we don’t celebrate our conference foes victories as our own.
Aggie won halftime? 🤔

I just think we have more to sell than you think. The atmosphere at Kyle field was unreal this year on a lot of these games and and these recruits were there. Our facilities are also second to none. I agree that our results were dissppointing this year, and our recruiting will suffer if it doesn't get better, but to not see why an athlete would choose us right now is a little delusional.
Give credit where credit is due… the “atmosphere” at Kyle field was 100% thanks to the aggie “cheerleaders”… no doubt about it. 🤣

Not surprised. At least this opens up the job for JTavion Sanders. Kid is a playmaker and will put on a show. But we will need to get a blocking TE.
We have blocking TEs, Wiley was not one of them. I had high hopes for Wiley, sadly it didn’t pan out. Sanders is a definite upgrade.

We are talking about your typical teenage football recruit. If you didn’t pay them then there is zero chance they’d ever want to live in CS.

a&m has a history of cheating. In fact, the only time that they had success in winning conference championships is when they cheated under Jackie Sherrill and RC Slocum and got put on probation back in those days, and damn near got the Death Penalty. They cheated when Manziel was there, but never got caught. SEC teams don't turn each other in. That's the SEC way.

Jimbo is a good coach. Not a great coach. He's a good recruiter and a good salesman. a&m fans should know better by now. How many times have ya'll seen this story? Every year when a&m goes 8-4, aggy fans proclaim that "next year is our year". Rinse and repeat. Hell, after each loss this season, aggy fans were ready to run Fisher out of collie station, yet now he's great because he somehow has pulled off the #1 recruiting class in the nation, lol?

Keep those excuses coming. So you're saying that if King, who is a marginal D1 QB at best, wouldn't have gotten hurt that a&m would have been a factor in the SEC this year? You serious, man? a&m's worst nightmare came to reality when Texas was invited and joined the SEC. You guys ran off from the Big 12, a conference that you were a whole two games above .500 in, to get out of Texas' shadow. Now you have to deal with your daddy again. Don't kid yourself. Texas won't be down long term. Once again, a&m will be back in Texas' shadow, as they should be!

Hook'em!
Dayummm. This post gave me flashbacks of the lashings handed out by Scholz.

I don't know wht to tell you but large cities suck in my opinion. Couldn't pay me enough to live in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc...

I like Dallas there are some parts that I'm like ohhh I would like to live here just cause of the scenery if you know what I mean. I can say this we built a house in the country and when we start getting to a certain point in certain areas we know we don't have to worry about traffic and seems like everything slows down. My wife hates the little town we live in cause there is not much here. Next house would have to be a little closer in the city for her shopping.

Most college towns are the same size if not smaller. You overestimate the allure of Austin, even to a young person. If this were true all the major metropolitan schools would rule. These are just facts. Columbus is the only exception that I know of and they are still half the size of Austin.
