Texas Recruiting

Word is that it was scumbag USC (Riley):

Sources: An anxious week in the transfer portal saw the Texas Longhorns fend off a high-priced suitor for superstar WR Xavier Worthy.
Really? So, it’s legal to interfere with players not in the portal, or was it X that sought it out?

Illegal for a coach or school. Not illegal for an agent to aproach a kid and say "hey I hear USC is handing out some big NIL deal for guys with your talent".

Once agents get more involved you'll see this happen much more, next is kids holding out of fall camp to renegotiate their salary. Honestly, I'm about done with college sports.

Blood sucking leaches in the ear of impressionable young kids. Again, adults that only care about money under the guise of "it's about the kids" are going to ruin everything

Not really recruiting related but Houston, Cincinnati and UCF are negotiating a buy out that would allow them to play in the big 12 in 2023. I wonder if Texas and OU will do the same now with a new big 13 commish who is butt hurt

I think part of the fix to the NIL situation is the NIL agreement itself. I assume some kind of agreement is signed. Make these guys(especially the elite ones) sign 2 and 3 year contracts where they can’t be bribed in to the portal without being in breach of contract. Now you’ll still have lesser players transfer because they think they can get a better deal elsewhere but you had that pre nil it was just about playing time then.

BTW, do you ever notice who started this thread 36 pages ago in December 2020? Always talking about his boy Vaughn at KSU.

It's like the wild west right now. They have got to re evaluate at some point and put some caps on these numbers. It's only going to get crazier if they don't. This gives the smaller schools no chance in hell to land these guys.

Oh well life is a b!+ch right? They can get over it....but this could be the end of college sports.....blame this on Ed O'Bannon that guy got the ncaa video games stopped and now this NIL crap....

Don't care for Riley doing that, but he's trying to portal the best for usc. Would have been worse if Riley was still at ou.
Thanks, Worthy, for staying w the good guys.🤘

I'm not against the players getting paid at all. I just think these numbers need to be capped so it doesn't create an unfair advantage for smaller schools.

I don’t think they can cap it. That would seem to go against the Supreme Court ruling. They need to do something but not sure capping it is going to be the answer

Make them sit out a year but grant waiver for head coaching change.
That’s an option. You can also make the elite guys sign 3 or 4 year deals when they agree to NIL deals. That would eliminate some of the underhanded stuff in the portal

Give options

Transfer and sit a year, don't lose eligibilty
Transfer and play immediately, losing 2 years of eligibility
I like option No 1 as a fan. Option 2 gives them what they want, to be in college for the shortest time possible. They are here for my enjoyment screw their best interests. So far Riley has opined that there needs to be parameters on the transfer portal AFTER he raided OU's roster, next he cried when Oregon out NIL'd him to a top Oline recruit recently and called for parameters on NIL, here he is again, now with allegations of tampering etc.
