Texas Recruiting

I like option No 1 as a fan. Option 2 gives them what they want, to be in college for the shortest time possible. They are here for my enjoyment screw their best interests. So far Riley has opined that there needs to be parameters on the transfer portal AFTER he raided OU's roster, next he cried when Oregon out NIL'd him to a top Oline recruit recently and called for parameters on NIL, here he is again, now with allegations of tampering etc.
There should be limits on the portal. You can’t have the portal as it currently is AND NIl. I think you should get a free one time transfer. After that you have to sit out a year unless their are special circumstances. That will cut down some of the tampering. You could also limit it in other ways that would make sense.

LOL, truth in the bold, hahahaha

They still have to wait for their 3rd year out of HS to leave. The NFL rule doesn't change

It may be easier to place limits on the university's ability to accept a max quantity of portal transfers. I don't know if this would be a good idea or bad idea, but it is just an idea to throw into the discussion.

Yes do something, anything. I was reading hypotheticals today regarding transfer portal/NIL and they were using Bama as an example and discussing how as it stands right now, Alabama's whole Dline could revolt and transfer out or demand big money a couple of times in the same year if players wanted. Right now the inmates are running the asylum so to speak.

I read today that OU’s NIL deals announced recently, that are paying a base “salary”, are being paid in increments and based on meeting certain requirements such as a minimum amount of volunteer work has to be performed etc. Still The thing is out of control and better get fixed or it’s all gone. Why go to the SEC if it’s going to come down to money? Stay in the Big 12 with an easier path to the playoffs. Championships or past accomplishments don’t really matter to these kids now, look at A&M

Universities gotta make money too! Can't just let the players and coaches get all of it.

This is the question I have. Thinking logically - Big Money Donors are going to pay the players, not donate to the University. Athletic Departments are going to take a big hit.
Why do you think AD’s and coaches have bitched about players getting paid for years? They wanted to keep it all for themselves lol

Dude, you spend enough time over here, on a Longhorn board, to know he is that good. Sorry, very good.
I do my man. I just hope Sark does'nt ruin him. Although different positions, like Mack did with Garret Gilbert. Know what I'm sayin? 😁

I think wood and bell are good posters.I can handle whatever they dish out. Wood knows very well how good BR is, don't worry.

An Ole Miss On3 mod put in a Texas pick for QB Arch Manning.
The more you watch the more it feels like this is going to happen for Texas. Reports are Alabama has kinda moved to other 2023 guys. UGA offered another 2023 QB a couple months ago.

It’s fine to recruit 5 star kids. At the end of the day it’s those guys who most often turn in to studs, but recruiting them isn’t enough. You gotta coach them up. That’s what we’ve failed to do for much of the last 15 years.

i also don’t think we do a good job of evaluating talent. Every class Texas should be pulling a few of the 3 star kids that turn in to studs. Don’t just leave them for k state, Iowa state, etc. Tgats how Gary Pinkle built Missouri. He took all the guys out of Texas that Texas and OU didn’t want mixed them with the Kansas City and St. Louis Metro kids and built some good teams.
He did?

WR Jordan Addison from Pitt is in town for a OV. Probably a long shot, but we do have his former position coach on staff.

I don’t think it’s as long of a shot as some may think. Marion might end up being the closer on this deal. Add him to our offense and it starts to look pretty scary if our offensive line can hold up. That’s a huge if but it’s fun to think about.
