Texas Recruiting

I think we should start looking at something besides 4 or 5 Star player, KState showed me that with Vaughn, being from Round Rock, man that was a miss, That was Pop Snyders thing, and they still are doing it, and the Brock Boys , he knocked us down when didn't get them and the 5 Star QB, this guys a crazy guy for sure on building a team...
Where are the Brock boys now---Oh that's right so buried on the Bama depth chart they will never see the field and with the o-line we now have and incoming recruits they would never see the field here either

Remember all those stars from TX that AL recruited a couple years ago?

Forget about the Brockemeyer's. Would any of them be interested in transferring to TX

Speaking of transfers Jared Wiley played well for TCU.

He just wasn't the type of te for Sarkisian's offense.

And when JT Sanders became the starting te the writing was on the wall.

JT is a better te anyway.

Every single school in the US of A will have 6-8 kids minimum. And then after every Spring game there will be another 3-4 kids minimum.

Fans making a huge deal out of this and dogging other programs are funny. As much as you lose in the portal, you can gain as much or more, LOL.

Texas got Ewers, Watts, Tucker-Dorsey this past year. Plus Neyor, who would've been a huge upgrade. The year before Texas got KRob and Oghoufo. These are players that had significant impact.

Texas will get another 2-3 guys this year that will be impactful. And they'll lose some talent as well.
I think all of the kids that have hit the portal outside of Jameir Johnson were all Tom Herman guys. But like you said it goes both ways. You are going to inevitably lose guys to the portal but you can also find some quality players in it. I would guess every year there's a handful of kids that transfer and become all americans.

JD Coffey is a part of Sarkisian's class also. I'm not sure but isn't DJ Harris part of the class of '21?

Saw Hudson Card is officially in the portal. That didn't take long.
Sure wish he would have stayed, but I guess I can understand

With NIL, I could see Whit and Bijan both coming back for another year. I don’t know if they will, but it’s definitely an option now. Bijan could probably knock down $5M+ in NIL money without much trouble. J Whit will probably be an early 4th round pick at this point. Late 3rd round at best. Why not come back and make some more guaranteed money and have fun for another year.

Bijan probably shouldn’t but he’s a bit of a different cat who appears to genuinely enjoy school I could see if.

That’s exactly my point. Before NIL, there would be no way. But now, a guy that’s more of a “renaissance man” like Bijan can make as much money staying in school where he’s having fun versus going to work.

I agree he’s most likely gone. Clob is dead on in the fact that he’s not going to improve his draft status by coming back. I’m just saying that with the NIL deals available now, he’s at least got something to think about. Before NIL, there wouldn’t even be a conversation. Now, he actually has to do some math before he makes a decision.

Bijan has to go now. His stock will never be higher and the life span of an NFL running back is a short one so he needs to go so he can maximize his value.

On the other hand, JWhitt returning is more realistic. He may ultimately decide to go pro too so he has more options to evaluate than Bijan the mustard tycoon.

Since they started slotting out rookie contracts by draft pick, I’m not sure. The biggest question is where does he go in the draft. Running backs hav been dropping back over the last few years. I think last year the first RB was drafted in the 2nd round.
The signing bonus is the scale tipper I would think.

In regards to Bijan

Say he is drafted 15-25. What does that money look like? What would his signing bonus be?

Say he stays and drops to late first. 25-32. What does that money and bonus look like?

Does his NIL deal match?
Not a single RB went in round 1 last year.
But lets say he goes #20. Kenny Picket went last year at #20 and signed a 4 year deal at 16 mil with half that guaranteed.

Sources on Reddit are teasing that Evan Stewart may be in the portal very soon. Need to keep an eye on that.

Okie State is getting hammered with opt outs. Spencer Sanders is in the portal as is their top LB and their RB1.

Also, Logan Parr just hit the portal

Bijan ain’t coming back. He’s hit his peak as far as draft value so there’s absolutely zero reason to come back next year. And that first round guaranteed money trumps any NIL money he would get.

Did it matter he was a QB? Would a RB get less or is it pretty much slotted money?
It’s based off of the round they are drafted in. Here’s a good article that explains it. I think the money is more for picks 1-10 than it is for picks 11-32. It goes down a little with each pick. First rounders get big signing bonuses and a lot more guaranteed money.
