Gotta agree with aggy here. I’ve always thought one of our biggest hurdles in this conference was getting excited for teams that, well, you just can’t get excited for.

No matter how hard our guys try, there’s no way they can ever get as excited about playing Brazos Aggy, Sand Aggy, Purple Baylor, Jayhawk and Wildcat, as they get about playing Texas. Just no way we can match the hate, because we simply could give a shit less about them.

Now you substitute Arkie for Okie Lite, aggy for Brazos aggy, Tennessee for Texas Truckstop Tech, LSU for Purple Baylor…oh hell yeah there’s a LOT more to get excited about. 🤘
Metcalf...to me the biggest question about the move to the SEC is this:

Are you gonna continue to correct my spelling over there? I hear it is not so important in the SEC.....

Gonna be honest...this sucks ass. I hate that Texas and OU are moving to the SEC. I hate that the P12 is going to be a G5 conference. I hate that college football is moving to a NFL model. It sucks man...it just does. I miss bowl games. I miss regional conferences.
The new playoff system is going to improve bowl season I believe. With more teams playing meaningful games you’re going to see less opt outs. I like the move to the SEC because I believe it’s going to help restore the program because of the recruiting. We also get to restore some of our old rivalries with Arkansas and the Aggies while also maintaining the RRS.

I believe Simmons, Black and Wingo land in Austin and Bussey with Aggy. This could all change since we’re talking about 17 year old kids. My hope is that the current NIL rules don’t change at all because in 4-5 years Texas schools will dominate recruiting because we’ll have the most prosperous NIL collectives in the nation.
You may be right...I do think Wingo or Black could end up in Aggieland with Wingo being the most likely of those. I would worry about LSU for Simmons. I still think Black ends up in Austin.

we wont here about Wingo tell Late December but i hear it differently. Im hearing Wingo really likes Texas.

A 4 confidence doesn’t make me warm and fuzzy lol.

I was checking on 247 comp. If we get Simmons and Black soon then we will fall just in front of Aggie and sooner lol
Roach never goes above a 7 though so him saying a 4 is like a 7-8 for anybody else. Alot of the LSU analysts have also lowered their confidence and many think Texas is a lock.

Fong Updates:

• Majority of the intel is starting to favor Texas.
• His mom said that Austin provides Colin the best opportunities when he gets into commercial real estate with the alumni and business connections the city and school have to offer. He has a great relationship with Sark.
• Simmons loves LSU in terms of the culture, staff, and direction of the program. They felt great a week ago, but confidence is not as high round Baton Rouge, which is not the same in Austin.
• Aggies are rising with Kobe Black, but he’d still pick Texas today.

Today is 5* Collin Simmons day. He announces live at 2pm CST on youtube. All signs are pointing towards the good guys, but you never know with Simmons.

He is the #8 recruit in the country, #1 in Texas, this would be huge recruiting momentum for Texas if they can land him.

Idk why I have a bad feeling about this..maybe it's because we don't usually land dudes like Simmons but God I hope I'm wrong ! I want Simmons, Black and Wingo!

People saying Texas only getting recruits because of money lmao

It's hilarious. We are playing the NIL game legally so the SEC bag men are pissing their pants. They throw 6 figure bags, we sign 7 figure NIL deals. They are so pissed.

The small college towns in the SEC/B12 don't have the corporate structure that Austin has. Aggy's 13th man foundation was just shut down because the donations are not deductible. Anyway, Texas is going to steamroll the competition. We thought unlimited scholarships were big, lol.

So how much do you think he got NIL wise?

BTW - unrelated to this but related to money - did you see that SMU offered to forego TV money for five years if the ACC would take them, and big money donors raised $200 MILLION DOLLARS to make this up for the athletic department? Who has this kind of money to spend on this kind of stuff????

The rumor is $1.5 Million. LSU couldn't or refused to match the offer.

Question on your opinions on some recruits we are both hoping to land. I wanted to get your opinions on where Texas fans or what your paid for intel tells you about Ryan Wingo, Collin Simmons and Kobe Black. I'm feeling pretty good about Terry Bussey right now, but the other 3 I'm not sure. I know Ryan Wingo is in College Station now and hearing really good things there. Collin Simmons I feel we are behind. He is at LSU, but I was hoping he would make it in tomorrow. Kobe Black I've heard the least about. I'm just curious about those 3 since I know you are hoping for those 3 as well.
I feel good about Simmons.

SMU has some DEEP pocket donors as well. There's a lot of donors with big oil money at that school.

Sark is assembling some elite talent here. The type of talent that you need to win big. He has several potential first and 2nd round draft picks on the roster or incoming that’s the type of talent you need to have to be in the conversation and it’s the type of talent we haven’t seen in Austin in several years.

Reminds me of Macks early2000s recruiting. Hopefully we put it together sooner than later. This year could be special and could launch us into the SEC

If Quinn takes the step forward that it looks like he might this team will win 10-11 games, and they’ll do it pretty easily. Really all comes down to how Quinn plays. If in April he’s being talked about as a first round pick Texas had a big year.

Barring injury, I just don't see how this offense will ever be held below 30 points, sans Alabama game. Not saying we won't score 30 vs. Bama but I can definitely see how they would keep the point total down...it's Bama.

That said, having this many weapons can also be a bit overwhelming as a play caller. You have a tendency to want to get everyone involved and you can lose focus as to what the defense is actually deficient at and you fail to exploit it.

Yeah I don’t think that will happen with Sark. He has coached his entire career with elite talent on the offensive side of the ball. I don’t think he will lose focus on the game plan.

I dont even think Ewers has to play that well for Sark to win 10-11 games. He can use him as a game manager type QB and still get the ball in the play makers hands. Saban has won multiple nattys with various mediocre game manager QB's, you dont need a stud, although it helps :)

Fong believes Texas is in the best position to land 5* DL Dominick McKinley, 5* OT Brandon Baker, and 5* CB Kobe Black. Mckinley is the #1 player in the state of Louisiana and he announces Sept-1. It doesnt happen very often for those highly ranked Louisiana kids to not commit to LSU, but sounds like Texas has the lead on this one. LSU fans are already butt hurt on their message boards over losing Simmons and most likely Mckinley lol.

Damn this class has the chance to be special if Texas lands all 3 of the above players!!
