I'm not going to rewind the tape and name names of those that thought Tommy was a good hire....those of you have suffered enough.
But that dude has a stink on him that is likely to never wash off.

I honestly don't even remember, but I'm probably one of those dudes. I would imagine I had others in mind above him, but he was the hot name. Honestly, just about everyone (not just Texas fans) jumped the gun on Tom being the next big thing in college football.

Yeah, after the national championship at Ohio St where he bent Saban's defense over and then the two successful years at UH I thought he was a good coach. I didn't know how much of a weirdo he was until he got here. Seeing all his antics you can tell he has a screw loose and you'd think people in the busisness would have known that and steered clear. But I guess the boosters wanted him and money talks.

Anyone know the next big commitment? I think 5* DL Dominick McKinley (#1 player in Louisiana) announces Sept-1 and all signs are pointing to the good guys. If he commits to Texas, that would be the 2nd year in a row that Texas gets the #1 player in Louisiana (Arch, McKinley). That would have been unheard of in the Les Miles or even Coach O era, they used to lock down the state hard.

NIL definitely helps, but other factors were in play for Arch and McKinley. Arch was never going to sign to LSU because of his family ties, and he grew up a Longhorn fan. Also, his family is wealthy and by all accounts didn't really care about NIL.

McKinley's mom is a long-time teacher and wanted her son to get a better education outside of LSU and other LA schools. The LSU boards are saying the main reason why he is leaning towards Texas is because he wants to major in CS, and Texas has a MUCH stronger CS program than LSU (#8 vs #109).

But of course, recruits follow the $$$$!

If Texas is offering $1 million, then it would probably take $2-3 million for me to consider aggie as a big time recruit with zero ties to aggie or college station lol.

If he does commit to A&M wouldn’t be surprised if this one isn’t one to watch for a flip.

If Texas finishes say 10-2, 11-1 and A&M had another blah season wouldn’t be surprised if Texas gets another look. One thing we know about sark and his staff is that They don’t stop recruiting guys just because they committed elsewhere.

I don't think anybody truly had a good beat on where McKinley was going to go. Sounds like he's kept everything really close to the vest in his recruitment. But just because he commits somewhere else tomorrow doesn't mean a thing. See Anthony Hill and Kelvin Banks for proof of that it's not over until pen meets the paper.

I’m not buying this aggy BS. Academics are extremely important to this kid and his mom. He’s a computer science major, and Texas is waaaaay ahead of the others in CS. If he chooses anything other than Texas I’ll be shocked, and I’ll smell a rat.

Pretty much all of the insiders are saying aggie or OU now. Are you hearing different?

Reading the tea leaves at various places Texas has not really talked any NIL with Mckinley and they do not seem worried if he picks someone else tomorrow. They will wait to make their big play in December if they want to go all in with him. Also sounds like they like him but do not love him. They got their #1 DT on the board in Robinson already.
