Watching Thompson at Nebraska play Northwestern

I definitely won’t defend some of his bad throws, but I was referring to blaming Casey for singlehandidly losing the game. Nebraska’s defense has major problems. Frost will probably be fired for a reason in mid Ocober. Also, I disagree with the last interception. The receiver should have caught it. He wasn’t sprinting across where a slight throw behind is difficult. Watch the replay.
Marcus Washington dropping wide open balls?… didn’t see that coming

Let's wait and see how we play next week. Then we'll be able to decide if its on the kid or on the coaches.
Boy, Is that RIGHT - freshman qb, freshmen on the o-line, and I want to see the D in action - TEXAS MUST SHOW ME & CONTINUE SHOWING ME - is anybody else skeptical that our D problems were "communication" - I saw lack of effort & talent - And all this kumbaya of how they all luv each other turns to poop when the front 7 run busts return & the burned man cover db's show up. SHUT UP & SHOW ME!

It's going to take some time. Sarkeesian is the guy on offense but the defense is still an unknown. The style of defense that PK is accustomed to running isn't great. It's a prevent type scheme so it's not aggressive. Be patient, the talent is coming.

The best thing we can do is to keep talent from tranferring and de-commiting. Show steady improvement.

I always thought Sark pulled Card too fast last year. Hell, the next game was Rice.

I loved watching our offense under Casey (some of the time) and believed he tried his best to win. His biggest issues IMHO where/are
1. His Dad constantly running his mouth
2. He packed his bags once and came back. Not as much sympathy second time around.
3. He started running his mouth after he left.
4. He went to Nebraska.

Pretty much polar opposite of Shane B in every way. Love Shane and will always pull for him.

His old man was running his mouth? Honestly, I never heard about this. It must have been such ridiculous gibberish that it never made it through my filters.

Statistically our D almost can't be any worse than last year. Weren't they like 120th or something? Given the right guys, PKs scheme is VERY effective but he failed to adjust his plays to the players in hand. Wish in one, poop in the other...
In fairness, running quarters is a tough concept without excellent communication pre & post snap. From what I hear, we're going to play in the same base D but with more emphasis on press coverage while still utilizing cover 2. This was the bread and butter D at tcu under Patterson.
It doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling but we'll see in 7 days.

I defended Casey. He was the best option we had last year, period. And no, he’s not terrible. I would’ve felt better with a seasoned Thompson going into this year, than a true freshman. (Basically what Ewers is)

That being said, let’s hope Ewers proves him right for leaving.

Casey Thompson has been taking shots at us ever since he got to Nebraska and they were favored by 11 points.

He may not be the sole reason to blame, but the go ahead TD was score after an interception that was totally his fault.

Northwestern is not good and according to Casey, "Nebraska is deeper and more talented than Texas at every position". If so, they should have won this game easily.

I mean, what did you think he would say? “Boy, these guys we got suck. Sure wish I was still at Texas.”
Sure he may be immature, and a little butt hurt, but I get him trying to pump his own team up.

Not saying I’d mind If Texas gave him a nice fat helping of crow, of course.

Karma's a b*tch.

The author of the article is being deceptive with the title and is a provoker. Watch Casey's actual video at the 3:40 mark. He was simply referring to the quantity of players which relates to depth-not who was better. As an example, how many QBs/WR/RB last year and how many does Neb have? Simple math. Not quality and he never said more talented.. It boggles my mind how sensitive (me included) we Texas fans are about our football program. Casey stuck it out all those years at Texas and spoke well all those years. Too bad he didn't go to "sensitivity training and how to speak to sensitive reporters" so as to avoid hurt feelings and egos. Texas fans have dished 1000x more insults. We had another guy put out a public video on twitter of every pass Casey missed to X. It looked bad, but 2 or 3 of those were while he was getting hit. The other passes were legitimate misses. In my mind, I would like to see a video of all the passes other QBs, whether Sam or other P5 QBs missed over a season-just to have proper context and compare. Nothing from Texas fans but provoking anger towards a 22 year old.

They have changed defensive philosophies this season. They are running a bunch of press coverage with only a single high safety. I think that’s the GP effect.

Or you know just admit he wasn’t good enough to get the job done here. Nothing against Casey at all but that’s just the cold hard truth. It’s going to be a huge difference this year having a QB that can consistently make every throw on the field.

Since when did the word depth solely mean number of players. Does Alabama have more players than everyone else?

I only ask, because their best back would be buried down our depth chart and Marcus Washington is a starter at Nebraska.

Am I wrong? Whenever I discuss depth, there is an implied talent component to that conversation.

These are two different arguments, but yes, I will admit it. We have to keep in mind the rest of the team's performance, with the exception of Bijan and Xavier before laying our dismal record last year at Casey's feet.. I thought Casey was our best option at the time, nothing more and nothing less. But, never did I think he was a top national QB.

When I think of depth I think of quality of talent in your 2’s and 3’s.

It wasn’t too long ago that we used 4* QB to be a converted running back and the OL injuries causing repeated musical chair scenarios due to no depth

You remember how when you first discovered your dick, and you were learning how it worked? Trying to figure it out... really awkward with it? Didn't know how to handle it properly.

That's Casey Thompson playing QB.
That makes me remember a joke....
A 90 yr old man in a nursing home was walking down the hall w a sad face. A nurse asked him what was wrong. The old guy said, "My wiener is dead!" The nurse rolled her eyes and said, "so sorry " and walked away. 2 days later the man is walking down the hall, with his gown wide open in the front. The nurse stopped him and told him he needs to cover his privates. The old guy said, "Today's the open viewing service!"
