When does Ewers return?

Hard to believe Ewers will be 100% for this week. If he’s not 100%, please god do not risk him against UTSA. Card and company can that one done.
I doubt Sark risks Ewers coming back too early. I think Wright starts against UTSA and it’ll be a coin flip against Tech, Card or Ewers. Depending on who is more healthy.

According to Ketch, it looks like Charles Wright will be starting at QB against UTSA. The coaching staff will be working hard with Maalik Murphy to get him ready for some reps as well. Hudson Card has a high ankle sprain and looks to miss some time.
Any word on Bijans MRI? No news could be good news OR gamesmanship. Let UTSA prep for Bijan all week not knowing he's not playing. Man, we're in a bad shape.

Here's what they "used to" do to treat it.

Here's a bucket of ice water.
Next to it is a really hot whirl pool.

Put your foot in the ice water for 5 minutes. Then in the hot whirlpool for 5 minutes.
Then back into the ice water for 5-- then whirlpool for 5. You do this for an hour.
It fvcking sucks.

Bad.

Then you do 30 min of electric stem. Shock the sh!t out of you. Then they take this deep heat treatment silver thing and rub it on you with jelly.

Then back to the ice and whirlpool for another hour.

You do this sh!t all day until you want to die.

Then that late afternoon they wash your ankle with baby shampoo and clean it off real good, then paint your ankle with this horse lintament called DMSO. You taste garlic in your mouth.

Go to bed, wake up, do it all over again.
Wait, DMSO for ankle sprains? Really? Isn't that stuff used on people to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome? 😆

Hey, fix your ankle and crap like a normal person all in 1 treatment! Amazing times we live in.

I know the reports are that he will miss 1-8 weeks which is such a huge range. But Im thinking he misses the next 3 games and comes back for the OU game. I think the next 3 games are winnable assuming Card is the starter and not too injured to start.

Predictions?
Teddy Lehman the really good OU Stoops era linebacker has a podcast with a former OU o-lineman.. Lehman on his podcast said that he has dislocated that SC joint multiple times and that since it doesn't move as much as the AC joint connected to the shoulder, that he was able to come back from the injury much sooner than the timeline suggests. And keep in mind he was a linebacker, so if he was able to come back sooner I would imagine a QB who has a non throwing arm SC sprain can come back sooner as well. If I had to guess, I would imagine that Sark tries to get us through the UTSA and Tech game with good defense and Hudson Card. I would be shocked if Ewers doesn't get a few quarters of play against WV to prep for OU.

I have never heard of dmso used for IBS. It is used most frequently in certain compounded medicines to drive another active ingredient through the skin

I think that's just Sark using coach speak. That injury Quinn has isn't day to day. Best case scenario is he's back for the RRS.
It sounds to me like it's basically once he can move without condiderable pain it is healed and is a just a pain management call at that point. That could be one week or 8 weeks, they don't really know and are guessing. It doesn't have a standard time frame to heal and that is why Sark said day to day. It doesn't mean he could play tomorrow.

Well shit. Don’t look for Murphy to be available. Sark was asked about him today, and he just said flatly, “He’s not healthy.”

Looks like it's Charles Apple-wright then! If Murphy is still injured, does that move Ben Ballard to back up? And Cole Lourde...his sr season in Cali was covid canceled, but he had some good passing numbers for 3 prior seasons. Pro style, I think?

I have no idea of anything beyond Wright. I’m hoping for a lot of Rojo in the wildcat.

This is just so incredible and it's really hard to believe this is a freshman playing against one of the best defenses in the country. So depressing thinking about what this season could have potentially been if he hadn't got hurt.

season aint over my dude....lets hope we go 2-1 , or 3-0 next 3 and then best case get quinn back and make a run for the big 12 champ...If the D plays like they did Saturday, they can carry this team.

You made me question my fading memories and Google it. Here's what I found.

DMSO was approved by the FDA only to treat interstitial cystitis (irritated bladder more or less) but apparently is used off label for just about everything from wrinkles to herpes outbreaks. Lol

I know it's not over, but it's still disappointing. I saw a team Saturday that could have possibly ran the table this season and fought for a playoff spot. Just depressing watching the last 12 years of Texas football and you finally see a team that is capable of putting Texas back on the map and then have an injury like that and just rip it away from us. I still have faith we can win these next 3 games without Ewers, but it's not going to be easy.

Check it out--

DMSO travels through the epidermis into the blood stream. Now, that SOUNDS cool until you realize that there's some danger associated with that.

Let's say you've been out riding your horse through a field that's been sprayed with weed killer-- your horses leg has been tweeked and you need to treat it with DMSO. You don't realize there's pesticide or weed killer all over your horses leg-- you apply the DMSO and it latches onto the poisonous molecules and takes it THROUGH the skin and into the blood stream.
Now you've got a sick horse.
You need to thoroughly wash the area first. We used Johnson's baby shampoo in college.

The garlic taste in my mouth was always what got me. It was gross.

And correct me if I'm wrong-- but didn't you get a briefing around about 2002-3 about DMSO and ricin being used by baddies?

Wright threw for 8100 yes and 88 tds in high school. His senior year he had 35 tds and 9 ints.

He had offers from Arky,ISU, and several others. He is a legacy they say and committed here within 15 min of getting the offer. I am ok with him playing.
Maybe he can be Randy McEachern lol

My concern is him not getting as much coaching and attention as the others have gotten. He is probably very raw and hasn't had many reps with the ones in practice during his time here. Timing and anticipation is everything in this offense.

Heavy dose of the running game and keep the passing game simple with some quick game. Just hope that Card can come back next week against Tech.

Start RoJo at QB. He knows the offense and won’t fold under pressure
How do we know he won't fold under pressure? It's a whole different ball game moving from RB to QB even though that's where he played in high school.

So it looks like Sark said Quinn's SC sprain is just a grade 1. I haven't listened to Sark's press conference but I found this on Twitter. Looks like he could be back sooner rather than later so that's good news.

Y'all remember Colt had to hit the weight room and build muscle to play in this league. Ewers learned that and I think this off season he will beef up like Colt did

Again! He was SPIKED into the turf. This is not Sam Bradford being casually knocked down and going all gerry cooney.. HE WAS SPIKED (probably inebriated) INTO THE TURF SHOULDER FIRST! It's not a bulking up issue; it's a don't get SPIKED shoulder- first into the turf issue

Little more muscle wouldn't hurt. Js. But ultimately yes I agree with you.

Pretty crazy stuff considering it's a byproduct from processing wood.

As far being briefed about DMSO use, if we did I don't remember. There was a lot of VX drama but if you are where it's released, it's already too late.

This is Wrights second year here. He has been around this system as much as Rochon. He is a good QB. I feel ok with him trying to hold the spot until Ewers gets back.

With both QB's out we need all the running backs in top form. If we ca move the chains on the ground we will be that much ahead.
