Why keep Coleman???

If Coleman is in, then it sounds like Sark lost the contest with Saban over Wiggins. Or was Wiggins traded for another staffer? Hopefully Banks.
It sounds like Wiggins is staying.

Coleman might be the winner in that situation it sounds like. It's a stunning little development IMO.

From the Statesman.

"Drayton has been the UT running backs coach the last four seasons, all under Herman. C joined the UT staff as an offensive analyst in 2019 and was promoted to full-time assistant coach last season. “Andre is going to stay with the wideouts,” Sarkisian said.

“Andre and I have a unique connection,” Sarkisian said. “I talked to him a couple different times the last few years when I was in Atlanta and in Alabama. I love his confidence, but also love his humbleness. I think he's got a great relationship with these kids.”

Sounds like might have changed.

Direct quote from Sark saying Coleman will stay with WRs, but hopefully that does mean analyst.
Where is that direct quote only think I have seen is him saying likes coleman and so do the kids.

He seems like a nice guy that works hard, but damn, we've had plenty of guys like this.

He isn't a difference maker by any means in recruiting.

He is like the Oscar Giles of offense
He doesn’t hold a candle to Giles in development.

Keeping Coleman is a disaster.

Its an unforced error that gives me pause about Sark's whole process.

This staff has yet to hire any elite recruiters.

Milwee is a non-recruiter.

Flood might be good, but its hard to say.

Gideon is a complete unknown.

Davis is good.

Joseph is good.

Coleman is bad to horrible.

Drayton is good but for one recruit a year at only his position.

I just dont see why you keep Coleman when you need a complete reset to get back involved with these 2022 recruits that wont give him the time of day.

I can sell myself on all the other hires, but this one is really, really unwise.

The Texas WR job is one that was pretty damn wanted behind the scenes. On paper, it HAS to be one that is filled with a big-time recruiter.

I still don’t buy that Coleman is the coach for this reason. Sayimg he is stayimg with the Wideouts could also mean is staying as an analyst and will help the new coach.

Yep, and Coleman is not. Pretty shocked honestly if he really keeping Coleman there.

Yeah it seems as is often the case the visions of grandeur for a new staff fly away in the wind and you ends up with a couple nice gets and some jags

The article literally gets its information from Sark. You think in his first interview with the newspaper in Austin, he's going to run some weird end around game with the wide receiver coaching position?

I'm going to take him at face value. He specifically made a point to give the Statesman this info for the world to see.

Some who cover this think Coleman is a very good recruiter. He got held back this due to no in person visits etc. Apparently that is where he excels. Plus the kids loves him.
I have a friends son being recruited Coleman has done poor to very poor on him and his friends. They like the guy but don't particularly get the urge to play for him.

These same guys reported Herman was back in 2021, so it's difficult to take at face value for now.

Plus, saying Coleman is "staying" but not necessarily coaching was interesting wording.

I refuse to hate on Andre Coleman. He played in the NFL. He is well liked. The receivers played well. I cannot emphasize enough how tough it is for a new coach to take over and not be able to coach like he did this past year. If Sark thinks he is the right guy, then I do as well.

Ah, some common sense. What a novel approach. I approve.

Well looks like he is the coach so there is that.. Fire Sark?
No question the hire and hope I am wrong. That position really needs to be an elite recruiter. One of those friends is Evan Stewart by the way. So hopefully Sark heads up that recruitment.

Coleman was known as the best recruiter on the staff at KSU. That may not be saying much, but if you can recruit the KSU, you should be able to recruit to UT.

I said it in the podcast today before the damn thing crashed, but I think Coleman is a perfectly fine position coach for about 100 schools in the country. I think at the biggest of the big boys, the position really needs to have a difference-maker in recruiting on it.

Coleman just hasn't proven to be a difference maker there. That's not my opinion. That's the reality of his profile as a recruiter in his career.

Most of the big time coaches/recruiters at the WR are in pretty good situations for themselves, Wiggins at Alabama, Simmons at OU, Colbert at USC. Might not be as easy to bring in one of those guys as it seems. And each one of those 3 developed their rep as top level recruiters at their current school, was Wiggins a rain maker at VT? Was Simmons a rain maker at WSU or Tech? Colbert’s first gig is at USC right? Maybe Coleman can do that here too with the help of Sark’s offensive system.

I don't believe that is true or was said. If he had that kind of rep at Kansas State, it would have ben super well known and KSU would have kept him at any costs.

He doesn't have a single major recruiting win under his belt in his entire career thus far.
The supposed All-Star staff that Sark was going to get and what was described as the big sell in bringing on an unproven head coach is getting worse by the day. On top of the recruiting, the WR personnel decisions have been an absolute disaster as well. Weird move all around.
