Basketball

But Chris Beard isn't here to continue recruiting.
And kids at home know that RT is winning with Chris Beard's kids.
Texas is about to find itself in a VERY difficult situation.
RT’s price tag is going up with each tournament win. I really hope CDC and RT have already privately agreed that he’s going to be the coach. Just waiting to announce it until the season ends. When I hear RT speak, he sounds like someone who knows he’s got the job. I’m also not hearing any leaks about other coaches showing interest so that could mean that everyone knows the job belongs to RT. However, until he actually signs an agreement, he’s still available for another program to give him a wild offer for some serious FU money.

Win or lose tomorrow, they should announce something early next week to quell any speculation. If we aren’t able to retain him, that would be a huge embarrassment and a major step backwards for the program.

that's uhhhhh... pretty bold prediction, buddy
And this is why Pawpaw shouldn’t be allowed to babysit a 5 year old grandkid by himself. I meant to type the winner should be in the finals. Unfortunately I was trying to explain the path for his favorite team while also trying to get him to stay in bed.
At least it was a good laugh for everybody.

Rodney Terry was the primary recruiter for a lot of these kids on the roster right now. If there’s one thing he’s good at then that’s the recruiting part of it.

I was never on the RT wagon to hire him permanently but I think he’s done enough at this point to warrant getting a fair shot for a few years.

CDC is probably waiting until after the tournament or when we get eliminated, whichever comes first. At this point I don’t see what another week is hurting. He’s not going to accept another job while he’s still coaching.

Only choice at this point….let’s see how RT does. If you don’t give it to him it’s a PR nightmare.
Yep that’s the thing. You don’t hire him and let’s say he wins the whole thing(not out of the realm of possibility) you gonna celebrate the national title on Tuesday and introduce the new coach on Friday? That’s just not gonna work. Terry might not work out. He’s not a sure thing but he’s the only option at this point. Chris Beard was suppose to be a sure thing and he made it a year and a half. So there are no sure things

And @clob94 although you are correct that these kids signed on to play for Beard. Cunningham is coming back next year, Bishop announced he’s coming back, the two 5 star recruits in this class have stayed in the fold, no one is running for the hills with Rodney Terry potentially at the helm.

Yep, and no one mentions the private equity deal. I find it hilarious that Dummy Vitale is telling Texas and PE firms what to do, talk about arrogant.... This is very entertaining in the least. I love it when liberals eat each other.

The part that’s very entertaining is the fact this team has a legit shot of winning the whole damn thing. Not sure why we have to make this a political matter.

IDK, cause and effect..... I'm a problem solver by nature. The root of the problem was the mee too movement. You can blame Chris Beard but Falk and Royal had these same issues(offending liberals). People make mistakes, move on.

Canceling people is not a solution.

Chris Beard didn’t get “canceled” and his firing had nothing to do with liberal or conservative. Every major college and university in this country hell every public business would have made the exact same move on beard.

We also don’t know what the discussions were like. It happened fairly abruptly after weeks of no news. It’s very possible Texas was trying to come up with a way to keep Beard(anger management, AA, a public apology, etc) and chris Beard wasn’t receptive to that and they said ok then you leave us no other option. I don’t know that’s how it went down, but it certainly feels like something soured in the discussions, and listening to Beard’s press conference at Ole miss I could see something like that taking place.

That's your opinion and that's fine.

At this point, I would only take Donovan over Terry. I think Terry has done a great job this year. I think CDC does look bad by not extending him sooner but he appears to have his process. I put Terry at a 90% chance of being extended beyond 3 years at Texas. I also would put Texas at a 75% chance of not making the tournament in the next three years and the stadium being empty in 4 years while T Bills are north of 9%.

I'm calling b.s. on all this.

Chris Beard is an asshole who threw it all away he gets no sympathy from me. I mean who gets engaged for 7 years and still doesn't marry? How fitting that MS had a fb and bb coach with a checkered pair concerning women.

We are on a storybook season. A coach fired and asst takes over. We finish as the best team in the best conference. What about PS naysayers? With 5 minutes to go we took charge and in the end made PS look like the 10th seeded they are

Whether Disu plays or not I don't see how Miami can beat us.

The sporting news has named Rodney Terry the coach of the year. And it's  his team now.

I hope Rodney Terry is our permanent coach.

Nueces you don't know shit from mayonnaise as to who would be a good coach at Texas.

Not sure why you try to turn everything in to a liberal/conservative thing.
The point is that so much of our society is ingrained in liberal/conservative politics/social issues including college sports, pro sports and corporate America. Politics is always downstream from culture. Whether we like it or not, everything is political nowadays including coaching decisions by colleges and pro sports teams. I remember way, way back in 2021 when Jerry Jones was accused of sexual assault and was investigated by the Dallas County DA. Although he was never arrested, the seriousness of those charges today would call for him to be forced to sell the team. The NFL is forcing Dan Snyder to sell the Redskins because of a "toxic work environment". That's hardly anything criminal but because our culture has been ruined by liberal politics this is where we are today.

So it's not too far fetched to be concerned about liberal politics getting in the way of our decision to hire RT. People speculate all day long in media circles demanding to know why we haven't offered RT the job. The insinuation is that there's something sinister going on because, after all, this is Texas - where we supposedly have a racist school song and other nonsense. I guarantee you there are liberals in the highest levels of UT administration that are thinking this exact thing.

My hope is that RT and CDC both know they plan to get a deal done and have mutually agreed to wait for the season to end.

The Beard situation had nothing to do with politics. Like I said every school, most companies would have made the same move. I find it interesting that a lot of people including Beard himself are blaming every one they can for this situation other than Chris Beard. Chris Beard ****ed up bottom line end of story has absolutely zero to do with liberal or conservative politics. Anyone trying to make it a liberal or conservative issue is at best misguided and at worst completely ignorant

You also said the season was done once Beard got fired. Your predictions have been a little off…

FAU takes down K state.

With the parity in college basketball these days the NCAA needs to start reseeding the final 4.

Saw this tweet but it was later deleted.

Sources say Grant McCasland has backed out of the Texas Tech job.

If real and not a negotiation tactic, this could mean either the person getting the Texas job opens a job Grant would rather have, or Grant himself is getting the Texas job. 👀

CDC isn’t letting Terry go to hire Mccastland. That would go over like a lead ballon lol

I think the players love RT more so than they did Beard. Seems more connected.

If you believe for one second that politics had no part in the Beard decision then you’re one incredibly naive individual.

Contracts for coaches are now more broadly defining termination for cause to include almost anything the university deems worthy of being a terminable offense. There’s no due process for the employee. The reason the university demands to wield this kind of power is because they can placate to the interests of those who are in power politically rather than uphold the rule of law and honor their obligations under the contract. Courts used to interpret termination for cause to only include the most egregious crimes and gross misconduct cases which means you would have to be actually tried and convicted or admit to the gross misconduct. That was precedent for many years. Now, because of liberal judges elected by moron democrat voters, they willfully ignore established precedent and have more broadly defined termination for cause to include basically anything the employer decides. This is wrong on many levels and a dangerous slippery slope.

KC, let’s say you’re boyfriend were to accuse you of sexually assaulting him and he even created his own cuts and bruises on himself to show as evidence to police and you’re arrested. Later, your employer fired you as a result because they didn’t want to deal with the negative PR. If you had the same contract language as Chris Beard you would probably feel that a gross injustice was imposed upon you. Especially if the police dropped the charges once your boyfriend admitted to making up the whole episode. That’s the position Beard has consistently taken during this entire episode. Nobody has any clue about what actually happened between Beard and his girlfriend. So I’ve never speculated nor taken a position because I don’t know what happened. You think Beard messed up because you believe what his girlfriend initially reported. Do you believe her after she completely retracted her story? Because she lied, I don’t believe anything she says. The reason you think Beard messed up is because you honestly believe that he physically assaulted her despite the fact that has never been proven. You believe it because you immediately fall for the politically correct narrative that all women should be believed, even if they are lying. Or, in the alternative, you believe that an employer should have the right to terminate a binding contract for any reason. If that’s your position, then half the players in the NFL should have their contracts terminated because of their conduct. The reality is that too many employers are looking for ways to weasel out of paying the remainder of the salary owed under the contract. And they’re getting tremendous assistance from liberal judges elected by morons who say ALL women should be believed even if they’re lying.

I understand this is all way way way over your head so you’re probably not capable of comprehending the impact of politics in EVERYTHING that happens around us. Especially in our court system and how it affects our daily lives. You’re the perfect useful idiot. Just walking around oblivious to the world.

BUT------ didn't the bite marks "allegedly" match his teeth?

I heard that too but I don’t know if it was actually confirmed. It’s possible he and his fiancé were just playing a little game of “slap and tickle” with each other and maybe it got a little out of hand.
