Basketball

Rodney Terry was the primary recruiter for a lot of these kids on the roster right now. If there’s one thing he’s good at then that’s the recruiting part of it.

I was never on the RT wagon to hire him permanently but I think he’s done enough at this point to warrant getting a fair shot for a few years.
It’s one thing to be the “primary recruiter” when the kids know they are going to be coached by Chris Beard. It’s another thing entirely when they know the head coach will be you. His track record for the latter is .500 over a 10 year period.

He has forced this decision with a fantastic run in March - good for him and the team. It will be difficult to pass on him if they win today against Miami. Speaking of Miami - would you be happy with a national championship…and then irrelevance for 20 years (and counting)? Because that’s what happened when Larry Coker took over Butch Davis’s team.

He’s going to have resources at Texas that were not available to him at UTEP or Fresno State. That’s where the difference lies.

And as far as Miami, how do we know they don’t fall off even if Larry Coker stays there? The thing is we don’t.

Shaka Smart had some talented teams here but could never win in March. The job RT has done this season and now in the tournament warrants enough for him to get a shot at this job. If they do make the final four that’s going to create some tremendous momentum within the program that should help them with some portal guys. If they get Disu, Morris, Hunter, Mitchell and Cunningham back next season then that’s a good core group of guys to build around. Then they have 2 extremely talented kids in Holland and Johnson committed. This team should be really good again next season.

If you believe for one second that politics had no part in the Beard decision then you’re one incredibly naive individual.

Contracts for coaches are now more broadly defining termination for cause to include almost anything the university deems worthy of being a terminable offense. There’s no due process for the employee. The reason the university demands to wield this kind of power is because they can placate to the interests of those who are in power politically rather than uphold the rule of law and honor their obligations under the contract. Courts used to interpret termination for cause to only include the most egregious crimes and gross misconduct cases which means you would have to be actually tried and convicted or admit to the gross misconduct. That was precedent for many years. Now, because of liberal judges elected by moron democrat voters, they willfully ignore established precedent and have more broadly defined termination for cause to include basically anything the employer decides. This is wrong on many levels and a dangerous slippery slope.

KC, let’s say you’re boyfriend were to accuse you of sexually assaulting him and he even created his own cuts and bruises on himself to show as evidence to police and you’re arrested. Later, your employer fired you as a result because they didn’t want to deal with the negative PR. If you had the same contract language as Chris Beard you would probably feel that a gross injustice was imposed upon you. Especially if the police dropped the charges once your boyfriend admitted to making up the whole episode. That’s the position Beard has consistently taken during this entire episode. Nobody has any clue about what actually happened between Beard and his girlfriend. So I’ve never speculated nor taken a position because I don’t know what happened. You think Beard messed up because you believe what his girlfriend initially reported. Do you believe her after she completely retracted her story? Because she lied, I don’t believe anything she says. The reason you think Beard messed up is because you honestly believe that he physically assaulted her despite the fact that has never been proven. You believe it because you immediately fall for the politically correct narrative that all women should be believed, even if they are lying. Or, in the alternative, you believe that an employer should have the right to terminate a binding contract for any reason. If that’s your position, then half the players in the NFL should have their contracts terminated because of their conduct. The reality is that too many employers are looking for ways to weasel out of paying the remainder of the salary owed under the contract. And they’re getting tremendous assistance from liberal judges elected by morons who say ALL women should be believed even if they’re lying.

I understand this is all way way way over your head so you’re probably not capable of comprehending the impact of politics in EVERYTHING that happens around us. Especially in our court system and how it affects our daily lives. You’re the perfect useful idiot. Just walking around oblivious to the world.
The basketball team is winning stfu

Again politics has nothing to do with the beard situation. Coaches at other schools have been suspended and fired for a lot less. I realize some of you have a hard time moving on and some of you have a need to push the “anti liberal agenda in every single possible aspect of your life, but it’s time to stop it and move the **** on.

I would not want to be in charge of Belmont right now.

You've got a coach that's winning at the time when it counts most- but he's doing it with someone else's kids.

You've got a black coach that followed a successful white coach that followed a very unsuccessful black coach that followed a pretty successful white coach. <----- there's your political spin.

If Belmont had a coach on deck- they'd never reveal it. Not now. Not here, with a shot at the final four. Not when they're the highest ranked team remaining. If there's a coach on deck, only CDC knows about it. Too many leaks in Belmont to keep that secret hidden.

So with that in mind- I think it's RT's job going forward. I may been wrong, and I've been wrong before...... but it's looking more and more like this is the case.

I think you’re right and he gets the job, he has the rah rah part down! My worry is what about the intensity part? That’s where Beard excelled! Thats where it all starts! Just hope it’s not a long term contract.

Throughout this entire tournament on every channel how many times have you seen those ridiculous NCAA commercials about student athletes being agents of change? They constantly show the Black Lives Matter protests, LGBTQ+ rallies, marches for women, marches for transgender people, etc and etc. That’s part of the political agenda that is being forced upon us daily by the NCAA.

Yeah, there’s no politics going on with collegiate sports. Nothing to see here.

Pay attention Cali. We’re talking about something entirely different.
He and brandon haven't received their daily enemas yet so give the triggered old phart a break. He's busy waiting on his first of the month check so his comprehension is addled atm.

No  you are the one taking about something different. We're having an exciting season and you're using it to to give the world according to me. Which one do you care about most cause I sure don't see you taking about basketball.

I’m not talking about basketball? Are you really as clueless as you sound? Go back and read my posts my friend. Try to enjoy life and look for the best in people instead of demanding they conform to your way of thinking. We’re free to talk about anything we want on this board.

team foul count slightly concerning

also, we're feeding bishop like he's disu. and he ain't disu. maybe it's a matchup thing for this game specifically, but everytime we feed bishop it ends in a rebound.

cunningham and rice are playing great

I noticed this in the last game, but is Miami really using the "tap the vein" that druggies do when they make a 3 or simply a good shot? Or when they are doing it, is it supposed to mean something else?

A lot of teams do that. It’s “ice water in the veins”

Hope we can bring Miami’s 64% FG% down some. Would not have expected to lead by eight at the half with that stat.

The key in the 2nd half. Hunter drive to the bucket or set up teammates. No outside shots. Know your game.

The commentors missed that post the UM 7-0 point opening Texas went 45-30 the rest if the first half.
