That guy averaged 14.5 points over three years. (a) That's pretty impressive. (b) Why would he leave? Is Hubert that bad a coach? His useage isn't going to go up that much.

I'm with you. I would've tried for a bigger name (maybe they did and couldn't pull it off), and we'll see if he can assemble a roster.. But you can't deny that Coach Terry won a conference championship and got to the Elite 8 - congrats to him.
I'm not sure any of the big names would take the job. Media was all over RT getting the job and I think whoever would have got it would have to spend a lot of time smoothing over public opinion and issues within the team. ESPN would have had a field day hinting at things.

If he doesn't make it then the buyout is not much and you throw the bank at a coach that can do it. I'm ok with this (not that anyone cares) but I think Texas really didn't have a choice.

UNC is on a downward trend so he's probably looking for a team that is more competitive. I'm also hearing the guard from Rice is someone we're very interested in bringing over. He would be a grad transfer. He was their leading scorer the past three seasons and has a similar style of play to Marcus Carr - tenacious defender and can get his shot off against pretty much anyone.
The issue was I think that there wasn’t really a bigger name out there to get. Jay Wright sounds like is content to not coach for now. Not to say he will never coach, but he isn’t ready to right now.
Billy Donovan maybe could have had him but that’s kind of a long shot I always felt like.
After that the Mussleman, pearl, tangs of the world. I think Terry started doing so well that it got harder to justify hiring those guys.
I think the right decision was made given the circumstances. Sure it may not work, but it may. I mean if I had told you 2 years ago that Chris Beard was going to be fired a year and a half in to his tenure you would have said I was crazy. So you never know. This time last year no one outside of Baylor and those that follow college basketball closely knew who Jerome Tang was.
Chris Beard got fired for violating the rules, not because he was a bad coach. I don't really see how that's relevant in this matter. And as far as Tang, nobody knew because he'd never been a head coach before. Terry has, so we have something to go off of. We just have to hope that he found something this year.
No way on Mussleman. The way that guy acted after they beat Kansas was embarrassing. You would have thought he won the whole thing by the way he acted. At least act like you've been there before, geesh.
yeah you kinda missed the point. My point is you don’t know how things are going to transpire. When Chris Beard was hired we all thought we had our next basketball coach for the next 25 years. Didn’t work out that way. You never know how life will play out. Rodney Terry wasn’t the guy everyone expected to be the head coach next year, but maybe he ends up being the right guy. Time will tell
I'm not trying to change the subject. Can you believe it a number 4, 2 number 5's, and a number 9 seed in the final 4. 3 teams who've never been there. You'll never see a March madness before and it won't happen again.

Rodney Terry is the right man for the job....if the nucleus or all players return, top recruits stay committed and a big, nasty inside player (or more) transfers to us. He's got the rapport going w the team. His good assistants are important as well.
Hopefully a booster puts together a nice NIL deal for Disu to come back. He has another year he can use if he wants

I don’t keep up with the NBA that much. I lose touch with it. I wish we had a team in KC would probably follow it closer. I did see the kings(former Kansas City team) made the playoffs. Mike brown who I always thought was a better coach than he got credit for.
Looks like Coach Terry is targeting big men out of the portal. Given what he has coming back and coming in as far a freshman goes this feels like the right move.

You know it was a great final 4 seeing teams like FAU, SDS, even Miami making the final 4 for the first time. But it was the team with the championship pedigree that won. It was kind of like TCU another underdog who played for the title but like SDS they were beaten soundly.
