Chip Brown reporting Tom Herman to LSU

It was actually a Texas site that started reporting all this, and ESPN and Co. ran with it. That's who deserves the real blame.
Wrong. A newbie showed up yesterday claiming that Herman already signed the contract with LSU. He claimed to have sources and just spoke with them. We tried to tell him he was wrong. But, the clown continued on a foolish rant.

Dude, Sumlin was given 3.1 per for a similar situation. That was more than a ton of coaches. This isn't something new
This has nothing to do with Sumlin. Everything doesn't come back to A&M. TEXAS is looking for a coach. I don't like Sumlin and know he sucks. This is about Texas and how they are about to pay way more than they should

So? Does that bother you? you are jealous aggy. aggy would love to have Herman....or whoever Texas gets for that matter. Sumlin will never get it done for you that is for sure.

Yawn, read. I said I can't stand Sumlin. Been saying that for a couple of years. I said last year when Herman was hot I didn't want him. I still don't. I guess if it was between him he and Sumlin I'd rather have Herman just for the fact that Sumlin we know sucks. We aren't quite sure about Herman yet. He doesn't have to be much better in order to be good. It's not like you are playing against world beaters

Besides Alabama, neither is a&m. The $EC is overrated and over hyped again.

Yet when SEC teams play out of conference they seem to win. SEC may not be what it was last year but still better than the rest.

You know it's bad when there is very little trash talk coming from your rivals over this Strong potential firing. It's like EVERYONE knows it's time.

16-21 & 43% winning percentage. He is in last place for winning as a Head Coach of UT football. Last time Texas had 3 losing seasons in a row was the 1930's. The last time UT lost to Kansas was in the 1930's. That all changed when UT hired Strong.

What does "Saban like control mean"? Every major coach has control of their program. Win 5 national titles and then you can be Nick Saban. Herman strikes me as pretty high on himself.

The leaks were from your own people man. I'd almost bet on that.

I do not know his definition. My definition is complete and independent control of all decisions within the football program.

He has that I would think. In terms of I would assume he can hire who he wants in terms of asst coaches. I don't know what else he would want.

Managers, trainers, video staff, office staff, academic advising and support, nutritionist, medical staff

I personally wouldnt mess around with him. I'd give him the same contract and control Strong had. If that's not enough then go to LSU the guy has coached like 28 career games. Don't bend over for him.

Herman = Kliff Kingsbury/Sony Dykes without the qb experience. We are so screwed.

Herman isn't going to get Saban like control at Texas
Nor does he deserve that control. Only reason he is the leading candidate for most of these jobs is because of the lack of coaching talent available. I like Herman, but don't know if he is ready for a top tier job...

I for one don't have a problem with the head coach having control over that stuff. Maybe if Charlie demanded it we wouldn't be in this mess.

Ouch. I'm not high on Herman but damn he's not that bad haha.

Here is my view on Herman. I think he will be a guy that does just good enough. I think he will absolutely own OU and I think he may go in to LA next year and beat USC. But he will lose one or two games that your like WTF? He will be 9-3, 10-2 pretty much every year. Not bad enough to fire but not where we wanna be. Seems like he might be a tad arrogant to. Might not have great relationships with boosters and such.

I have no issue with coaches picking there own staff. I don't think most schools do though. So it leads me to believe he's asking for things that aren't standard. Things that Saban has control of other coaches don't. I could be wrong though.

Sucks for ATM. Our guys were going to F this up anyways.

Tom Herman: Chip Brown of HornsDigest reports Herman is close to being named the head coach at LSU. LSU AD Joe Alleva declined comment on this “or any other report that’s out there,” according to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate. Meanwhile, Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman reports Charlie Strong could save his job with a blowout of TCU tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Herman to anywhere but Texas sounds good

Right now 9-3 or 10-2 for 5 years sounds great. So, who is gonna go 11-1 or undefeated? Give a name and lets go after them.

People forget. UH sucked balls before Herman got there. And in one season lost only one game and beat FSU. Im sorry, but you don't just do that by accident.

Yep. Some college coaches that won faster than Strong at their current location:
1. Harbaugh at Michigan
2. Herman at Houston
3. James Franklin at Penn State
4. PJ Fleck at Western Michigan
5. who else?

I know there are others. I have read their names recently.

UH did not suck balls before UH got there

They went 12-1 in Sumlin's last year

Tony Levine went 5-7 8-5 7-5
The next year Herman went 12-1

They werent great but didn't suck they had some success. If your looking for a program that sucked balls before he got there, and were looking at a mid major type let's look at PJ Fleck. They went 4-8 before he got there.

Fleck went 1-11, 8-5, 8-5, and now 12-0. If your looking for a program builder he looks to be your guy. If I had to pick a mid major coach to be the next great one I'd probably pick him over Herman, Harsin, etc

As far as a coaches who I think we could get that might win a national title.

Gus Malzahn. Always felt like he would kill it at Texas. He's already led a team to the national title with auburn. Has went head to head with Saban and beat him at least once.

Larry Fedora-knows the state as good as anyone won at southern miss winning at north Carolina as much as anyone can.

James Franklih- rumor was he was the runner up to stomg. Has built a solid program out of a terrible situation at penn State.

I'd start with those 3 and go form there. I left out the dabo, Peterson, harbaugh types. I think it's silly to not at least look at these guys.

9-3, 10-2 sounds great right now. I ageee but sevreal years of that and you become les miles
