Don't Nobody Wanna Play USC Right Now

So...........um............is Brent Venable vegan? My friend said he was.

He also said that Lincoln Riley eats a steak and a loaded bake potato after every win. I don't know if anyone saw, but he won again last night.

My friend said that ou lost by 55 yesterday, 1 point for every victory LR had as ou's coach.

I said Veneables just needs a couple of recruiting cycles and he will have ou where he wants them. He told me that BV's makes $7M a year. Therefore he doesn't get a grace period.

I told him that I had heard that argument before, but anyone that suggest it is ignorant.

It’s almost as though you forgot your team went 5-7 last year and has been rebuilding since 2009 but carry on

If I have some time I’ll find the post where I said OU has easily 4 losses on their schedule this year and you said I was crazy. My how the tables have turned 😂😂
Um I posted it yesterday in the OU vs TCU game thread and you’re flat out lying because my response was that we go 6-6 best case scenario. Embarrassing for you

y'all need to back off of Bell. Through the hell years of 2010 and now he has been amazingly soft on his gloating. Yeah, he does like to jab the needle now and again, but so do we all.

I am not above laughing at their difficulties, but I will not do it on a forum unless they go all nuts like aggy, and to this point they have not done that.

I am on record saying I hoped OU would win every game every year except the RRS. Back in the day when we were nationally relevant we needed OU to be a quality win.I hate to see the day when we just want them to be as crappy as we are. Lets face it. We are now and forever joined at the hip and for us to be successful,we need them to be successful as well.

This week is as close as a desperately must win for both teams as it can get.I hope no one gets hurt.

Flame away....I can handle it.

Can you not read the date on the post? Lol

I didn't go back through all of your posts to look, but I'm certain that you didn't predict six losses this season for OU before the season started. You were non-stop promoting how great Venables is.

I responded directly to you in the OU vs TCU thread yesterday with the screen shot of my prediction of 6 wins for OU from the Big 12 Fall Camp thread from August, they are clearly timestamped, well before the season started. Why you are acting like you didn't see it is beyond me but your infatuation is getting weird af. I'm going to do you a favor and post my prediction again from that thread and your post where you "note" my prediction. If you still want to argue and call me a liar go ahead SMH.

Fair enough. I just didn't recall you stating anything over six wins would be an overachievement. I like ribbing you and Woody's overinflated opinion of Venables. OU fans are going realize how good they had it with Riley once things settle out with Venables. Lol that you think I'm infatuated with you. It's going right over your head why I post what I do about OU and Riley/Venables.

Agreed. I don’t think Venables will necessarily be a bad HC. Im sure he will do fine. But It’s unrealistic to think he will have the same success or better as Riley. He probably won’t.

I didn't forget. I also didn't forget how you tie results to coaches salaries and insisted that
neither Strong or Herman should any grace period.

Go ahead and deny it.

I think some people on here need to show their roll on SC. I still think UT is the best team in the Pac XII and they'll beat in SC in 2 weeks.

Mostly I want to see what SC will look like a couple years from now when they go to the Big X.

But I do think the SC/UT winner will be in the playoffs.

Well if the winner of Utah and USC are going to be in the playoffs..... then by default, that would mean USC is a pretty good team..... right?

And if USC DOES lose, they'll still get to play in the Rose Bowl..... right?

Not too freaking shabby...... no?

Either one of those teams get curb stomped in the playoff. That conference makes the Big 12 look like the NFC East. Winning it proves nothing.

I think it had something to do with it but I think their offense was a bigger reason they were so good. In 03 they weren’t even in the top 15 in total defense. 04 they were really good though finishing 3rd. You don’t have to have an elite defense to win championships in todays football. Teams now are winning more with offense than they are defense minus last year with Georgia.

So working backward and focused on defensive scoring since stopping points is a D top job:

Georgia #1

Bama #13

LSU #18

Clemson #1

Bama #1

Clemson #10

Bama #3

USC in 04 and 05 were both top 5 Ds.

You want to win titles, REALLY good Ds are important.

LSU was 33rd in scoring defense when they won in 2019. That Bama team in 2020 won with offense. They would get up on teams early and make them play one dimensional. It’s easy to play defense like that.

And I’m not saying defense isn’t important. I’m just simply saying you can still win championships with an average or slightly above average defense.

Of course that's good. But this year I think UT is the better team who has a good coach of their own.

But my greater point is that I'm going to wait and see until their first year in the Big X.

By far it will be the toughest conference LR has coached in.

Utah won in a blood bath last night. Don't know if any of you chuckle heads tuned in to watch‐- but it was in Utah- at altitude- and it was anybody's game. Back and forth. Absolutely shredded both teams defense.
There were only 4 punts all night.

Total yards-- USC 556 Utah 562

Passing USC 381 Utah 424

First downs USC 28 Utah 30
Utah was 3/3 on 4th down

USC had 12 penalties to Utah's 5

Once USC gets that defense tightened up, look out.

I watched every minute of it. That was a damn good game! Loved how Utah’s coach said to hell with OT let’s win this thing right now.

I watched pretty much the whole game. Two great offenses. Man, Caleb Williams has a freaking cannon arm. I'm glad that Utah won. Made me some coin on that game, as I had them on the ML.

Yeah but Rising still outplayed him and won in the end.

Rising did not outplay Williams. He was just fortunate enough to have the ball last. Williams threw for 5 tds and Rising only threw for 2.
Look at the yards passing. The gained approximately the same yards and carries running the ball.

Williams is capable of engineering a game winning drive he did it last year at OK.

But Rising can do that to and last Saturday night he did.
