Fall camp thread

Notes from day 2 practice

Bolden moved from 4th string punt return to 1st string. Kid is FAST and shifty

Dandre Moore is always the first to practice , still.

Alex January is causing some noise...acts like a natural leader.

Anthony Hill will be wearing Communication Helmet on the field.

We didn't run TEAM today. It was a Special Teams day

TOP 6 WR'S are all about set. Cook, Wingo, Bolden, Golden, Bond and Moore. Wingo still making tons of noise.

Sorelle is looking better and better

Taffee still in a cast/green jersey. Broken wrist from last year and spring.

TE'S look strong. Helm, Nieblack leading the way. Jordan Washington is a rising star is what Kyle Flood said. Juan Davis is strong at blocking. Gives J whitt effort blocking downfield after the catch.

So it WAS a soft toss day....

Interesting.

One item of concern among others. Ewers gets injured or has an underwhelming start to the season and Manning comes in and never looks back. I would compare this to Rattler/Williams at ou.

Damn, Baxter is glass. That sucks because he was supposed to be our hammer.

Maybe Gibson will get some time. The dude looks like he's been in college 3 years already

Baxter is getting a second opinion.

That's usually not a good sign.

Blue is the dude. Most here hated him and wanted him to transfer a couple seasons ago. IMO, Baxter was average last year. He was not close to Bijan, even as a freshman.

Hopefully, Baxter can get stronger and plug into the rotation next year. He has been very injury prone.

He's the J Witt of rbs. Hopefully he'll come out the other side and give us otherworldly Jr/Sr campaigns.

Hate to hear this but outside of the receivers, the RB room is the best equipped to handle the hit. Don't sleep on Clark as a contributor.

My spies are telling me Jerrick Gibson has been impressive. Runs with both power and speed. One insider thinks he could be another great one.

When you tear your lateral collateral and your posterior- it's bad. It would have been better for him to tear his ACL.
I'd be surprised if we ever see Bax on the field again.
Sucks.

That would suck complete ass
Unless there's some new surgical breakthrough that I haven't heard or read about-- I know "some" doctors believe a partially torn LCL can heal on its own-- I think that's a bunch of bullsh!t-- but hey, I skipped that day of medical school (and all the rest of them). But PCL tears just suck. I mean they fvcking suck. When you tear somewhere that's meant to stabilize your joint from moving in a direction nature NEVER intended it to move in--- that's a hard area to rehab.
But let's say they do the surgery, repair both ligaments with grafts, he goes through 9 months of rehab- he won't be practicing in March-- that means he won't suit up and take a hit again until a year from now. And that's assuming nothing goes wrong- no infections, no mishaps, or slipping on a fvcking wet floor, or getting drunk at a frat party and Shea Morenz-ing your way down a flight of stairs-- (it happens)-- and once he's back on the field, he's got to have the strength and stability to cut, push, and take hits.
It's REALLY hard for some folks to come back from injuries like this-- nit just physically, but mentally.

Besides Blue no one has taken a meaningful snap. I'm sure they are all fine runners but they need to block and hold on to the ball as well. Freshman scare me.

Difficult to return from. He needs to put his head down and start working. No time to sulk, he's alive so keep working.

Just no fumbleitis for the young RBs, give good pass protection, gain positive yardage and keep the chains moving.
Heal well CJ!🤘🏻
Let's not forget that CJ was the starter last year as a true freshman. JB took over once he got hurt. I think we'd all feel a lot better having a Brooks type guy in the room right now but the freshman we took this year are bigger backs. Gibson comes from IMG so he was going against D1 talent every practice. Hopefully one of those guys steps up like CJ did last year.

Brooks was the starter. I don't care who technically took the first snap but Brooks was RB1. Baxter didn't do much until Brooks went down. Blue is great in the open field but we need a guy that can get tough yards up the middle, hopefully Gibson can do that. Also it's not good when all your RBs can each only do one thing good, it tips off the defense what type of play you are going to run. I hope someone can step up and be a 3 down back.

Blue drove through contact better than Baxter. Baxter tended to drop at first contact.

Blue did when he was fresh, but can he do it 15 times a game? He needs more ass so he doesn't get worn down, that's why you need a hammer on the team.

Well this is a bit of a gut punch but I trust Sark has a few horses in the stable. Just think how all these guys are gonna feel when he tells them, “Boys, CJ gone. One of you is going to get 2-3 times more carries this year”. Voila, a new star is born.
