Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (40 Qs for Art Briles at Media Day)

Let's recap today.

a. You went out of your way to post that you disliked my write-up, specifically over No.7, and you decided to make a post about it, despite not reading the entire thing.

b. You accused me of making other mistakes, but have listed none.

c. You say you don't have time to list any, but you do have time to keep responding in general, often in long paragraphs.

d. If your last sentence is true, why are we even having this discussion today?

I never said I disliked your write up I just said points 6 and 7 which are tied together are factually wrong which you have already admitted to. There are other mistakes but I don't want to go over them here due to the shit storm/mob mentality of this board. I will pm you by wed. morning and it's up to you whether you read it or not. It's all I have to say here on this subject.

It's like I thought you don't want to know. You want the mob mentality that is here. In 11 years I haven't PM'ed you one single time. It truly shows how much you really care about the truth. Carry on. When you want to have a back and forth between just you and me let me know.
k, champ.

Or there aren't any other. Go ahead, read through my 40 questions. Tell me where there's a mistake.

Or go away...

Most freshmen report at the end of this week or first week of June. They'll go through summer workouts and things like 7 on 7, but not actual team practices until fall camp begins in early August.
Such, how close can or are you keeping an eye on that. Curious about he dynamics are going.

Two GOT questions:

1. Can direwolves come back to life as walkers?

2. Might Hodor do the same?

If either happens, I will be very sad.

Down to two Direwolves, unless Arya's has mated. Arya will be an interesting follow in the next few episodes -- can she truly disavow being a Stark? If so, her place in the story is wasted time. But I think her assassin's training will come in handy when she gets back to her list. Needle isn't just gonna rust away to nothing.

Rumor is that Meera may be Jon Snow's sister. Didn't see that coming...

As for Briles, the Title IX investigation is the key. But it will drag on for a couple of years, I'm afraid. I narrow it to a single question: Why are you such a rape-enabler a-hole?

As for the DTs being a strength, I disagree somewhat -- I think they will become a "relative" strength about 2/3 of the way through the season as the kids supplant (or at the least supplement) the vets.

Good job, as always.

Hook 'em!!!

The NBA needs relegation just like Premier League. The 76ers should be bumped down to a European league along with the Knicks and Lakers until they can field a competitive team. Let France, China and Turkey field a team for a year and see how they do.

I'm only half kidding. Can't the NBA afford those planes that travel in shallow space to make the schedules work?
stop hating on the Sixers because we refused to fall into the trap of mediocrity.;)

I had no idea when the pm function came in. I assume before that it was email and I haven't done that either. I have already corrected him on points 6 and 7 which are tied together and which he presented as fact which he has already admitted that it wasn't. I won't go over this on the board for the reasons previously stated.
because you don't have the time... got it...

On this site, for this column, for the purposes of paying money to login into Orangebloods rattling off 40+ questions everyone knows can't be asked it's indulging of you do that. For that purpose it's becoming more about you versus what everyone else wants to read. On Twitter, a column dedicated to that story solely is fair game fine IMO. Your really good at moving the denominator when you make your points about this story. I get your passion for the story. Like I said it irritates me as well. But seriously is this a Baylor Rape allegation site or is about Texas Sports?

I'd have to think yes and yes.

If there were such obvious mistakes, why does it take until Wednesday to send them to Ketch....there is no mob mentality if you support arguments with facts @studly#1

On summer workouts? We'll definitely be checking around to see how things are progressing, particularly with the younger players.

Strong summary, Ketch. A few thoughts:

1.) Excellent breakdown of the questions Briles needs to be asked.

2.) In your opinion, would a majority of these tweener RE's have a better shot of becoming elite players if they focused on being OLB's from the outset? Particularly given that the one elite prospect on your list ended up at that position?

3.) Not nearly enough people have brought this topic up yet, but I'm completely with you on the state of the upcoming Olympics in Brazil. That has the potential to be one of the biggest FUBAR's we've seen on the world stage in some time.

I promise you the moment your trying to tear into Briles you're going to be muted. You've telegraphed yourself way too much to really be able to get the questions he deserves or the ones you really want to ask.
Oh, we'll get one or two in...

1. thanks.

2. it's a good question. Very possible. It's also their skill sets put them in this weird place.

3. every corner of the world could be infected by the end of the summer.

You need to get an "I am Spartacus" thing going where every single media member present just repeats the same question until Briles leaves the stage. What would everyone rather write about the next day - how Baylor is going to replace a fifth of a ton of McGowan at TE, or how they took part in something bigger and more important?

2005: Paul Freeney (6-3, 229 pounds/Signed with A&M)
2005: McKinner Dixon (6-3, 240 pounds/Signed with Texas Tech)
2006: Eddie Jones (6-3, 240 pounds/Signed with Texas)
2007: Richetti Jones (6-3, 234 pounds/Signed with Oklahoma State)
2007: Russell Carter (6-3, 230 pounds/Signed with Texas)
2007: Von Miller (6-3, 210 pounds/Signed with Texas A&M)
2007: Levar Brown (6-3, 240 pounds/Signed with Arizona)
2008: Andrew Wolridge (6-2, 235 pounds/Signed with Texas A&M)
2010: Reggie Wilson (6-2, 240 pounds/Signed wqith Texas)
2013: Torrodney Prevot (6-3, 201 pounds/Signed with Oregon)
2014: Derick Roberson (6-3, 225 pounds/Signed with Texas)

That’s a Super Bowl MVP/potential Hall of Famer ... and a bunch of JAGs for the most part.

.

Richetti Jones. . . .wow, was that ever a kid I really wanted. . . .

Did either Russell Carter or Reggie Wilson ever do anything?????

I seem to recall Richetti had quite an enthusiastic family member who posted on the board during the recruitment.

Big Burn. . .

Met him at a Dallas Lunch bunch one day. Uncle or cousin I think but don't recall.

Hope you have the energy to keep this fight up, Ketch. Ken Starr may go, Ian McCaw may go, but Art Briles ain't going anywhere.

You do realize that there are a lot of people on this board who do care about the Baylor Rape allegation? Ketch isn't talking about this story to try and get people interested in it. Look at how many threads are on the board today about Baylor.

A thread, an individual story I get it. Listing 40+ questions then rolling into talking about Texas football is indulgent IMO when the general thought about the weekly column is about Texas sports.

I have questions! Can Baylor not call on you/ignore you at the press conference? Can they just plant 10 friendlies in the audience and only call on them for questions? Have you emailed that list to all your press connections at the other Big 12 schools? Do you think other school's reporters are letting you take the lead as far as keeping this story going? Are other Rivals boards like TCU, Ags, SMU, etc talking about Baylor like us or is it just orangebloods?
He can be muted for sure. His credentials yanked. While I believe Briles has a lot to answer to, one reporter from one school drilling home questions that no other schools are talking about could very play Texas in a negative light.

I said I hadn't thought much about Zika and the games.

I'm betting that outside that the games go off pretty OK. Seems like it's very common to hear the sky is falling in regards to venues/facilities/infrastructure being ready leading up to them and then things seem to be OK. I recall the Beijing games being threatened with pollution before, but it did not seem to be a huge issue.

There are hundreds of cases in the US already, and the CDC, other experts already saying Zika is far nastier than they initially thought. Brazil is ground zero for Zika. I don't think concerns are unfounded. As you said, you haven't been following it closely. Maybe check it out before writing it off or comparing it to Beijing, etc.

I didn't realize there was mob mentality here. Hmmmm....never been part of a mob before.

So, there's that.

They will fire Briles just so he doesn't have to answer questions like those.

It's not worth it - ESPN and other major outlets will be there and it just can't be risked

I don't care about soccer, which Ketch usually talks about in his ten thoughts. So I skip it. What I don't do is post multiple times bitching about it and arguing with him about how European League soccer has nothing to do with UT and shouldn't be in his column.

Methinks he doth protest too much, as The Bard once wrote. I think your repeated complaining is becoming a bit self-indulgent. Get over yourself already.

Fair enough, but there's still work to be done.
Would love to see more work on Longhorn football. It is not breaking news that Art Briles is scum and not Orangebloods responsibility to clean up Baylor.
