There are hundreds of cases in the US already, and the CDC, other experts already saying Zika is far nastier than they initially thought. Brazil is ground zero for Zika. I don't think concerns are unfounded. As you said, you haven't been following it closely. Maybe check it out before writing it off or comparing it to Beijing, etc.
That still don't make it right.I used to spend summers in Philly as a kid.
My first MLB game was Philly/Chicago on 9/1/83. That same summer the Sixers won the title while I was in Philly.
Philly should lose there team, they just throw there season every year to try and collect talent. The NBA needs relegation just like Premier League. The 76ers should be bumped down to a European league along with the Knicks and Lakers until they can field a competitive team. Let France, China and Turkey field a team for a year and see how they do.
I'm only half kidding. Can't the NBA afford those planes that travel in shallow space to make the schedules work?
I have faith in my media brothers when I know I shouldn't.You need to get an "I am Spartacus" thing going where every single media member present just repeats the same question until Briles leaves the stage. What would everyone rather write about the next day - how Baylor is going to replace a fifth of a ton of McGowan at TE, or how they took part in something bigger and more important?
Not really.Richetti Jones. . . .wow, was that ever a kid I really wanted. . . .
Did either Russell Carter or Reggie Wilson ever do anything?????
General, but not absolute.A thread, an individual story I get it. Listing 40+ questions then rolling into talking about Texas football is indulgent IMO when the general thought about the weekly column is about Texas sports.
a. I'm not "one reporter from one school".He can be muted for sure. His credentials yanked. While I believe Briles has a lot to answer to, one reporter from one school drilling home questions that no other schools are talking about could very play Texas in a negative light.
not when they were prospects, which is what the conversation is about.Except for the fact that they were 6-3 255ish. They were big enough to play defensive end in college.
what aspect of Longhorn football is left uncovered on this site...Would love to see more work on Longhorn football. It is not breaking news that Art Briles is scum and not Orangebloods responsibility to clean up Baylor.
I'd say sticking with two historically bad teams for 33 years, come rain or shine, is exactly right. That still don't make it right.
collecting talent is the name of the game.Philly should lose there team, they just throw there season every year to try and collect talent.
They were both around 240 pounds as prospects. As big or bigger than Tony Brackens, Aaron Humphrey, Sergio Kindle, Jackson Jeffcoat, Orakpo, Robison, and Tim Crowder coming out of high school. If you are only going to highly rank athletic defensive ends north of 250 as high school prospects, you might find one a year in the state.not when they were prospects, which is what the conversation is about.
Yea and if 10-12 teams did that every year the nba would chage the draft process. You play the game to win not to build a team. The 76's have plenty of talent more than most they have a new GM and now just need to be coached.collecting talent is the name of the game.
If there can only be one it should come from Texas! Ketch your a glutton for punishment.I'd say sticking with two historically bad teams for 33 years, come rain or shine, is exactly right.
It's organic sports loyalty to the max.
Yeah well that is your opinion, but if someone keeps responding and I still have something to say then I still have something to say. I take by your comment you will not be responding.I don't care about soccer, which Ketch usually talks about in his ten thoughts. So I skip it. What I don't do is post multiple times bitching about it and arguing with him about how European League soccer has nothing to do with UT and shouldn't be in his column.
Methinks he doth protest too much, as The Bard once wrote. I think your repeated complaining is becoming a bit self-indulgent. Get over yourself already.
I get your points. It would seem prudent and logical other schools would hold the same interest. I'm sure there's a story in there somewhere. My point was if you have 2-3 reporters who are all on staff for a website that covers Texas sports it would seem one school.a. I'm not "one reporter from one school".
b. No other writer on this staff is "one reporter from one school".
c. So, you're worried about the discussion of Baylor putting Texas in a negative light? All kinds of irony there. Seems to me that kind of mindset is how this Baylor situation got to where it is now...
Yes, 240 was the high point for a tweener. They were both around 240 pounds as prospects.
No, non of the guys that checked in around 6-3 (at best) and under 240 (at highest) are the same as those other guys. They were both around 240 pounds as prospects. little more nuanced than that.Yea and if 10-12 teams did that every year the nba would chage the draft process. You play the game to win not to build a team. The 76's have plenty of talent more than most they have a new GM and now just need to be coached.
The one is the Cowboys. If there can only be one it should come from Texas! Ketch your a glutton for punishment.
A lot of the media is comprised of enablers or people who won't dare exit their market for anything.I get your points. It would seem prudent and logical other schools would hold the same interest. I'm sure there's a story in there somewhere. My point was if you have 2-3 reporters who are all on staff for a website that covers Texas sports it would seem one school.
It seems like the Rockets are married to Harden for better or worse. Putting Harden in his system seems like possibly.... just possibly... a very good way of tapping into the best qualities of his skill set.
Any better ideas?
I'd rather be terrible and aiming for greatness than mediocre and accepting of that fate.Unfortunately no. I don't think it matters. They need to burn it to the ground and build it back up. But be careful what you ask for I suppose. Just ask the Philadelphia 76'ers, huh?
A few people are losing sight of the larger point, which is that we should all be wary of weak-side defensive ends with that kind of physical profile.I love the little part about you falling for tweeters. It shows that you do your best to put out an accurate and unbiased list. Despite what Aggies say. It shows that you evaluate your own mistakes to get better. I'm sure being the boss makes it much less stressful to admit mistakes but it sure makes for a good product.

It's not that some guys can't turn out to be solid, but more times than not (by a lot), those types of prospects have missed and didn't warrant a national top 100 ranking.
History shows that you need to be at least 6-4 and it helps if you have a frame that has already filled out to 240+ heading into college.
He breaks the 6-3 mark. The data indicates that extra inch matters.Where would Orakpo fall in this discussion. I remember standing by him at the first open freshman practice and thinking that dude couldn't be much over 200lbs.
So Tech, TCU (especially as much as Patterson hates Briles) , ISU, K State OU, OSU, WVU, and Kansas reporters are too scared to ask Briles a question about these cases?A lot of the media is comprised of enablers or people who won't dare exit their market for anything.
I care a shit load more about what's really going on then how accurate your reporting of this is. If you want I will go over point by point and pm it to you. Might be tomorrow but I will get it to you.
He can be muted for sure. His credentials yanked. While I believe Briles has a lot to answer to, one reporter from one school drilling home questions that no other schools are talking about could very play Texas in a negative light.

Wow, that's crazy. But you know those guys better than I do. Will be interesting to see what they do. From the events that are likely to take place before Media Days surely they can't remain silent. I would imagine that wound be a good question to ask them, don't you think? I also believe what helps the story and adujication of what should happen is if it doesn't just come from one school. Don't you agree?
