Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (A chance for Omenihu and Co. to right some wrongs...)

Fair enough. I was 13 when he was playing, maybe I just thought it was funny how he would always get penalties for late hits. I really liked you latest Mack chronicles by the way.
Don't get me wrong, Kill had a very nice college career and was a starter on teams that won a lot of games. He just wasn't on the level of some as a lot of others over a 16-year stretch of mack football.

Glad you liked the pod!

Very well done sir... you did Hager right as I think he doesn’t get enough recognition. I think he and Kiki are probably 3a and 3b and would maybe switch Allert & Leiding... 1 & 2 are indisputable and you got them in the right order. If Malik was under Herman/Orlando his entire career + 1 more year he could’ve climbed much higher... untapped greatness IMO.

It’s easy to forget how nails Aaron Harris was... really enjoyed watching him and I think in general Longhorn Lore he is underrated (not on this list).

Side note: Knowing BJ, he would probably argue he should be in there, but following Hager was too stark a contrast and bad timing for him. He was a good teammate and solid MLB. I agree not top 10 and he obviously wasn’t around his full college career on the 40... I think he’s top 20... where would you put him in a vacuum (just curious because I’m bored and can’t sleep)?

Thanks for the note.

Harris has become one of the most underrated players in the Mack era.

Now... he was a legit great player in 2004 and not quite as good as a senior, but still he was the backbone of that 2005 defense.

Consider the stats from his final two seasons: 203 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 6 sacks.

Outside of DJ and Jefferson, I dare anyone to find a LB in the Mack era with stats as good.

Jordan Hicks' final two seasons weren't as good, although he was hurt as a junior. Keenan Robinson didn't come close. Neither has Gary Johnson.

I shouldn't have listed Kiki as a linebacker. Should have been listed as a DE.

Not that this was in doubt but for those still wanting to list him as a LB, you can see in this '81 video of the OU game what position he was. Also, if you go to the 11:50 mark they list the starting Texas D.

Dang... easy to forget how good those stats are... I remember always feeling “secure” with him on the field. He filled gaps as good as anyone since Britt.
