Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend: A Whirlwind of Stuff

Nice ZZ list, but I might have to put Fool For Your Stockings in there too. It has one of my favorite lines from them:

“Now I don't mind when you send money
And bring your girlfriends with you
But how could one be so thoughtless
to try and handle less than two?”

It’s very probable that he'll be the slot receiver for the program unless he's injured or someone takes his job.

... What's going to happen with Lamar Jackson in the off-season? Texans fans, would you give up the No.2 and two other first round picks to get him?

Good God, no. Because then you have to pay him $200MM at least. And you don't have any kind of roster (or cap space to build a roster) around him. And he doesn't play in December. Take a young QB and build around that guy on a rookie deal.

fair enough

But you propose another team with gaping holes not only pay him but give up 3 first round picks?? It’s nonsensical.
Some teams and fan-bases would be ok with paying that much for an MVP-level player at the position.

Jordan is a hell of a player and Ketch the bottom line is the truth that impacts the bottom line. "Obviously, his numbers would likely have soared with good quarterback play". It is hard to catch what is not thrown to you and Jordan made and makes Texas a much better offense with his presence on the field and we're fortunate that he is coming back.
I agree. He is one hell of a receiver, don’t understand why he didn’t get more touches.

Just seems so negative this early on. I'm enjoying this team. You're looking for a new coach with 16 regular season games left. Go get em tiger!
You don’t have to pay attention, but the AD does.

I don’t see his comments as negative at all. Rodney Terry seems to be a terrific person, but we need a helluva coach with a winning history. Terry just doesn’t fit the need.

The only reason Whittington wasn’t very good this year, and the only reason he won’t be very good/great next year is if Sark continues to misuse him and we get bad QB play.

I didn't say he wasn't very good. I just said his production levels need to grow.

Actually Hendrix said that about Terry Kath. Hendrix died before first ZZTop album was released.
He wasn’t talking about ZZ Top. Billy and his band Flash opened for Hendrix a few times on the road in 1968. Probably after he said that about kath. But he did say that.

The production from the slot receiver position is dependent on the QB getting him the football, which depends on the OC calling plays for the slot receiver. The lack of production at that position is entirely because of Sark.

Very possible. I tend to think there are more than a single reason for it all.

My preferred starting o-line for next season after the Jones news:

LT- Banks
LG- Campbell
C- Majors
RG- Jones
RT- Williams

Not that Conner and Hutson were bad this year, just very high on the upside for DJ Campbell and Cam Williams. Also liking the idea of Jones moving to guard more and more as time goes on.

The oldest archives list that I can find on the 10TFTW archives board is this ZZ Top list from 12/8/13. That is literally just a few days before the Red Banquet.
I remember patiently, logically, irrefutably explaining why your list was wrong. But I see that you still haven’t come to your senses.

JK. To each his own.

On your piece about Whittington production, I think Sark should have convinced Ewers to use Whittington more on short routes which would have opened the deep routes for Worthy. Instead Ewers kept throwing deep routes to Worthy even when he was double covered most of the time.

I like your lineup if Majors can add some strength for next year .
If not, how about Hayden Conner or Hutson ?

I don't know how much I want to move Jones. His third position in three years after he was one of the best tackles in the Big 12 this year?

It was a cut and paste from 2013.
