Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (About Texas and NIL...)

Maybe you didn't see the worst season in our lifetime last year because you might be a new Texas fan. But we went from a mediocre program that won 4 bowls in a row to absolute horseshit over night. There was a coach before those four seasons named Charlie Strong who actually wasnt as statistically bad as Sark on a number of fronts and he was expected to get another year until he lost to KU in his 3rd year. Sark has already outdone Strong there.

If Sarkisian even goes 7-5 next year he needs to be gone.
As long as you can recruit top ten classes, there’s hope.

It's fool's gold.

Top 10 classes are built are basic four stars that are nothing more than 3 stars with good press.
Have you done a feature lately relating/comparing top 10 classes (maybe top 5?) to on-the-field success? I think most of us would find that very interesting.

There's a big difference between stacking top 5s and top 10s. There's a bigger difference between 5 and 10 than there is between 10 and 25.

Young men make decisions on where to attend school more times than not for fairly trivial reasons.

They do it because of girls or the colors of the uniforms or because of an assistant coach.

This romantic notion that they've all come because of the love of a university is fan-fiction nonsense for the most part.

What you did or I did doesn't matter all in the context of this discussion and never has.
This response doesn’t address our discussion at all. We aren’t talking about all young men. My point was specifically football players coming for the SOLE reason to get paid. And I’m not 3yrs old so no, I never thought they only came here for their dying love of the university. And I guarantee you the primary reasons most kids chose a university prior to NIL deals had everything to do with some family allegiance, or he liked them as a kid, etc. If that wasn’t the case then why did so many kids from Texas stay in state and play for a Texas school? All their girlfriends didn’t go to whatever school. And going because they may have a great relationship with an assistant isn’t trivial. Do you know what trivial means? In the context of our conversation your response is bullshit.

Yep it’s the difference between Penn St (top 10) and Georgia (top 5)…which is the difference between 8-9 wins a year to 11 plus…
