Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Blue vs. Baxter... it's kind of a thing)

No idea what you’re talking about.

Why would I want a rift between players and where did I even allude to that?

You blaming ketch for the same thing?

of course you don't. probably never will either

Go listen to the 3rd & Longhorn podcast on YouTube with Jaydon Blue. He was asked about not CJ starting over him. He said" CJ is a dog and one of my best friends..we compliment each other in the backfield" he said the whole RB room are all really close. I don't think they're causing them to be enemies one bit. Blue knows it's his time and he will get a lot of touches and take advantage of every opportunity he gets.

which proves the op's post of "Baxter vs. Blue" is nonsense

I never thought Baxter was anything but serviceable. Blue is a special kind of player. Hell, he might be the fastest RB in the country. Sark needs to find a way to get him 15+ touches a game whether that’s running or passing.

He posted the fastest time of any RB in the nation last year.

Yeah I agree with you , What about baxters game is actually 5 star level?

I think he’s a great guy and an overall solid player. But I just don’t get quite get how he was quite rated as a true elite level player? Does he have any truly special traits as an RB?

I don’t quite understand the ranking. It’s not as bad as Jonathan Grey, but it seems similar in my mind. Hope he crushes it this year.

Good stuff. Probably gonna be an expensive lesson for Sweat. But it could have been much worse.

What is the latest with Marsh?

Ketch, how would you compare Ffrench to Moore and Lockett? Also, is Moore far and away better than both? Like Jeremiah Smith hype?

@Ketchum Between moore , ffrench, Lockett, marsh, Harris, Johnson, the wr crew

Who would you put money on Texas landing ?

That’s a crazy amount of talent

Just enough to know he isn’t a HOFer. Just enough to know the Terrell Davis comparison is a bit silly.
He’s not a HOFer for sure. Didn’t stay on the field enough. But he was certainly elite when healthy during the period ketch mentioned

Is it fair to compare Jayden Blue and Caden Durham as similar players?

Thanks for your comment about the B/S I contributed as it gave background as to why you believe CDC makes decisions beyond the on-field performance analytics, which of course drive the ultimate decision, but I never considered how poor performance of a team might creat embarrassment for him that could impact his decision. I would not like having to explain last weekend’s performance to fans or BMDS.

He's the good-time AD. When times aren't fun, it gets his attention.

Man it sucks for blue that he has to outperform Baxter to such a strong degree to be considered the number one guy. It doesn’t make sense considering he’s also more of a veteran player on the roster and has less of a fumbling issue ? What is one thing that Baxter definitively does better than blue?

All bc Baxter was a sark 5 star recruit? Man I guess he really does play crazy favorite to Baxter considering brooks was wayyy better and he still started Baxter

“Wayyy better”?!? So revisionist. He started Baxter over Brooks because Brooks had done NOTHING to prove he was better when the season started. Hell, going into last season most OBs thought JB would be only decent at best. Everyone was worried shitless that the RB position would be a liability with Bijan and RoJo gone. It wasn’t until Baxter got hurt and JB started in a real game that Brooks truly shined like he hadn’t in practice or the previous season.

2. Sarkisian and the staff really thought that CJ Baxter warranted starting over Jonathon Brooks last season and Brooks became the starter only when Baxter got hurt, missed a game and then Brooks just took ownership of the position by being the best player on the field against Wyoming. What happens if Baxter had never been hurt? How much of Brooks' workload would have cut into without the opening that Baxter's injury created?
To me the elephant in the Baxter / Brooks room is not that Baxter had an injury that allowed Brooks to see more playing time. It's that we apparently have a bunch of Ronnie Millsaps and Stevie Wonders on the offensive staff who were somehow unable to reach the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, J Brooks was by far the better player.

That whole deal still makes me wonder.

Blue vs Baxter; Brooks vs Baxter vs Blue...really people...you act like Sark and his staff never won a game and is clueless, not like he came seconds away in season #3 to playing for a Natty. Give it a break, trust Sark, not your well-honed HS benchwarmer eyes and mind.
